Tue Aug 2 201123:19Kendrick hurls eight shutout innings vs. Rox
Kyle Kendrick hurled eight shutout innings, allowing four hits while striking out seven, in Tuesday's victory against the Rockies.
He walked two in the gem at Coors. Kendrick has done a very good job in a swing role this season, posting a 3.19 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 87 1/3 innings. His peripherals aren't great however, as he has a poor 39/25 K/BB ratio. He's just not a reliable fantasy option outside of deeper NL-only formats.

Thu Jul 28 201122:21Kendrick falls to 5-5
Kyle Kendrick yielded four runs - three earned - on six hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings in Thursday's loss to the Giants.
Not a bad outing from the right-hander, as he was undone partly on an error by Michael Martinez in the seventh inning that allowed a pair of runs to score. Kendrick boasts a 3.52 ERA and 1.31 WHIP on the season despite a 32/25 K/BB ratio over 79 1/3 innings. Despite the solid numbers, he figures to lose his spot in the rotation when Roy Oswalt returns next week.

Sat Jul 23 201120:07Kendrick handed no-decision vs. Padres
Kyle Kendrick yielded three runs in 5 2/3 innings as part of a no-decision in Saturday's win over the Padres.
Kendrick held the Padres scoreless over the first five innings, but coughed up the lead by giving up homers to Cameron Maybin and Chase Headley in the sixth. He allowed six hits and two walks while striking out just one. Kendrick has done the job when called upon this season, but he has an ugly 28/23 K/BB ratio over 73 innings. He's just not a reliable fantasy option, even against the light-hitting Giants next week.

Sun Jul 17 201117:03Kendrick throws seven innings of one-run ball
Kyle Kendrick held the Mets to just one run on six hits in seven innings of work on Sunday afternoon, improving to 5-4 in Philadelphia's 8-5 win in New York.
He walked three while striking out none. It's rarely pretty with Kendrick, but he's been getting the job done this season, posting a 3.34 ERA and 1.31 WHIP through his first 67 1/3 innings. His 27/21 K/BB ratio is not a good sign, however.

Fri Jul 15 201116:19Kendrick starting Sunday vs. Mets
Kyle Kendrick will start Sunday's series finale against the Mets.
The Mets are pretty fortunate, as they will miss both Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee this weekend. Halladay will start next Monday against the Cubs and Lee will follow him on Tuesday.

Fri Jun 24 201101:18Kendrick pitches decently in relief
Called into service when starter Roy Oswalt departed after two innings, Kyle Kendrick gave up two runs on five hits in four innings on Thursday.
He also walked one, but did not fan a batter. Kendrick has become a very flexible resource for the Phillies this season, compiling a 3.23 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over five starts and 14 relief appearances.

Wed Jun 15 201115:56Kyle Kendrick earns win over Marlins
Kyle Kendrick limited the Marlins to one run in seven innings to earn a win in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.
Kendrick won for the first time in a month. He has a nifty 3.12 ERA despite having struck out just 19 in 43 1/3 innings this season. He's slated to head back to the bullpen now.

Fri Jun 10 201100:38Kendrick pitches well before rain delay
Kyle Kendrick tossed three shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out a pair before being removed following a rain delay in Thursday's extra innings loss to the Cubs.
Kendrick did what he could over three frames, but the Phillies chose not to send him back out after the delay. The right-hander has been yo-yoed back-and-forth from the bullpen to the rotation this season but has for the most part pitched much better in relief. He'll carry a 3.47 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into next week's outing versus the Marlins.

Tue Jun 7 201115:08Kendrick to start Thursday against Cubs
Kyle Kendrick will make another spot start Thursday evening at home against the Cubs.
Kendrick surrendered four earned runs in a five-inning outing on Saturday against the Pirates and shouldn't be trusted for fantasy purposes on Thursday night.

Sat Jun 4 201122:18Kendrick allows four runs in loss to Bucs
Kyle Kendrick surrendered four runs in five innings Saturday as the Phillies fell to the Pirates.
Kendrick did not issue a walk, but he also failed to strike out a single batter and wound up allowing a whopping eight hits to the Pirates' mediocre lineup. He'll head back to his long relief role next week.

Thu May 19 201122:13Kendrick knocked around in emergency start
Kyle Kendrick was knocked around in an emergency start Thursday, giving up five runs on seven hits and a walk over just three innings in a loss to the Rockies.
He served up two of Jason Giambi's three dingers on the night. Kendrick made the surprise start after Joe Blanton was a late scratch due to his elbow woes. It's not clear at this point whether Blanton will go back on the disabled list, but if he does, Kendrick is the most likely candidate to replace him.

Tue Feb 1 201101:01Kyle Kendrick could wind up in the bullpen
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Monday that Joe Blanton "right now" is the fifth starter, which mean Kyle Kendrick could be headed for the bullpen.
Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt, and Cole Hamels would round out the rotation. Kendrick has started nearly every game he's pitched in four major league seasons. He would be the fourth or fifth starter on many other teams. On the 2011 Phillies, he is more likely to contribute in the bullpen and to be a spot starter when needed.

Tue Jan 18 201114:56Phillies, Kendrick reach pre-arb. contract
Phillies and RHP Kyle Kendrick avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.45 million contract.
Kendrick was pushed out of the mix for a rotation spot this winter when the Phillies nabbed top free agent Cliff Lee, but this nice chunk of change should ease his disappointment. The 26-year-old turned in a 4.73 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 4.2 K/9 rate over 180 2/3 innings last season.

Sun Nov 14 201009:50Kendrick "no lock" to remain as No. 5 starter
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Bob Brookover writes that Kyle Kendrick is "no lock" to remain the Phillies' No. 5 starter even if the team doesn't add someone from outside the organization.
Not only should he not be a lock to stick in the rotation, it wouldn't be a surprise if Kendrick, who is arbitration-eligible this winter for the first time, is non-tendered. The starter/long reliever posted a 4.73 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 4.2 K/9 rate over 180 2/3 innings in 2010.

Fri Oct 15 201015:30Kendrick added to Phillies' NLCS roster
Kyle Kendrick has been added to the Phillies' NLCS roster.
Kendrick was left out of the mix for the NLDS, but the Phillies decided to go in a different direction for their second-round matchup against the Giants. The right-hander will work primarily as a long reliever.

Tue Oct 5 201017:15Kendrick not expected to be on NLDS roster
Kyle Kendrick is not expected to be on the Phillies' NLDS roster.
We're still awaiting official word, but from all indications, he wont make the cut. The Phillies will need an insurance policy due to J.C. Romero's back issue, so Antonio Bastardo is expected to be the 10th and final pitcher on the roster.

Fri Oct 1 201023:29Kendrick earns 11th win
Kyle Kendrick yielded two earned runs over five innings against the Braves Friday night to earn his 11th win.
For all the hand-wringing in Philadelphia over Kendrick, the bottom line is that he's fine as a fifth starter. He started 31 games this year and gave the Phillies 180 2/3 innings. Of course, fantasy owners can do better even if Kendrick sticks in the back of the rotation in 2011. He'll fill a long relief role in this year's postseason.
