Phillies placed RHP Kyle Kendrick on the paternity leave list.

He can be on the paternity leave list for 24 to 72 hours. Michael Schwimer, who was sent down to the minors earlier this week, will replace him on the active roster.

Kyle Kendrick will start Saturday against the Nationals.

Of course, fantasy owners can do better even if Kendrick sticks in the back of the rotation in 2011. He'll fill a long relief role in this year's postseason.
