Sun Mar 17 201309:47Kyle Lohse likely still in play for Brewers
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt believes Kyle Lohse is still an option the Brewers are considering.
Haudricourt isn't necessarily predicting that they will sign him, but he writes that he "will believe the Brewers are not going to sign Lohse when I hear he has signed with another club." The Brewers and Rangers are looking like the two most probable landing spots for the right-hander, but at this point no one has a good idea where Lohse will wind up. His agent, Scott Boras, is reportedly still looking for a three-year deal with a "big" annual salary.

Thu Mar 14 201317:38Rangers remain in contact with Kyle Lohse
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was told by major-league sources that the Rangers remain in contact with free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse.
T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com was told by a Rangers' source last week that the club wasn't going to sign Lohse, but it appears they haven't ruled out the possibility entirely. For what it's worth, Lohse's agent, Scott Boras, tells Rosenthal that multiple teams have been in contact. "He's doing his workouts, and we've continued talking with a number of teams," said Boras. "...A lot of teams are evaluating their existing situations, but have called and have interest in Kyle." Lohse's market has failed to develop because he is tied to draft pick compensation, but one major league executive tells Rosenthal that he's still looking for a three-year deal with a "big" annual salary.

Wed Mar 6 201319:28Rangers 'are not going to sign Kyle Lohse'
A Rangers source told MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan that the club is "not going to sign Kyle Lohse."
"I can't be clearer than that," the source added. It's a stark contrast to what we had been hearing lately, as multiple reports had said the Rangers were staying in contact with Lohse and had upped their interest in signing the right-hander. It appears, though, that they might be content with their in-house options for the fifth starter spot until Colby Lewis is ready.

Mon Mar 4 201320:30Kyle Lohse on regular spring schedule
Kyle Lohse has been on a normal spring training schedule and has faced college hitters in simulated games.
In other words, the team that signs him won't have to worry about him being behind schedule. Lohse is reportedly looking for a three-year deal with a "big" average annual salary. The Rangers are one team known to have interest in the veteran right-hander.

Mon Mar 4 201315:56Rangers have increased interest in Kyle Lohse
According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, "signs are" the Rangers have increased their interest in Kyle Lohse.
Martin Perez suffered a fractured left forearm Sunday while pitching in a Cactus League game, so there is an opening in the Texas rotation that Lohse could fill perfectly. Now it's all about the Rangers' willingness to forfeit the No. 24 overall pick in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft -- which is what it will take to sign him. If Lohse doesn't require a massive contract, perhaps the Rangers will pull the trigger. He's said to be seeking a three-year deal with a "big" average annual salary.

Mon Mar 4 201313:03Kyle Lohse still seeking three-year contract
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports has confirmed that free agent Kyle Lohse is seeking a three-year contract.
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman suggested the same thing last week. Rosenthal adds that Lohse also wants a "big" average annual salary. The Rangers are said to be considering making an offer, but they could probably wait for the asking price to drop a little more. Lohse has struggled to attract a healthy market because signing him costs a high draft pick and because teams are worried that he will struggle away from St. Louis.

Sun Mar 3 201311:39Rangers not ruling out Kyle Lohse signing
Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers and Kyle Lohse's agent, Scott Boras, "have remained in contact."
Wilson also writes that "there are some within the Rangers' organization who want (Lohse) on the roster," but the "biggest divide" is in having to surrender their first-round pick. Lohse's asking price has "reached the point where teams are rethinking their stance," according to Wilson. If the righty's demands have indeed dropped significantly, it seems likely that a number of clubs would revisit the idea of signing him.

Thu Feb 28 201312:58Yanks, Indians still not interested in Lohse
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the agent (Scott Boras) for right-hander Kyle Lohse called the Yankees and they were not interested in making an offer.
Olney also says the Indians are not interested because their budget is stretched too thin. The Brewers might be the best bet for Lohse at this point, though they haven't made any kind of formal proposal. The Rangers have also been loosely linked. Lohse, 34, posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 33 starts last season for St. Louis.

Sat Feb 23 201319:36Attanasio 'has been involved' in Lohse talks
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio has been involved in talks with Kyle Lohse, suggesting the club could be a serious player for the free agent, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
"Things change. You never know. But at this point, we want to look at our [young] guys first," Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said. "I'm not opposed to giving up a first-round pick if it's a 30-year-old guy you give a three- or four-year deal to." Milwaukee has been a logical landing point for Lohse since he hit the open market, so it's no surprise that they're being linked to the righty once again. Even with Attanasio's involvement, it seems nothing is imminent at this point.

Thu Feb 21 201308:48Yankees have no interest in Kyle Lohse
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reiterated Wednesday that the club has no interest in free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse.
The topic was brought up because Phil Hughes is currently sidelined due to a bulging disc in his back. If Hughes is unable to start the season on time, the Yankees appear content with going with Ivan Nova and David Phelps with the final two spots in their starting rotation. As for Lohse, his market continues to be incredibly quiet because he is tied to draft pick compensation.

Wed Feb 20 201322:37Rangers still not interested in Kyle Lohse
T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com writes that the Rangers "have not changed their position on their lack of interest in Kyle Lohse."
Lohse's market has fallen to the point where he might have to end up settling on a one-year deal, but the Rangers apparently aren't going to bite. The Brewers have been connected to the right-hander, but their owner, Mark Attanasio, said over the weekend that they weren't in active conversations with Lohse's agent, Scott Boras. It's really anyone's guess as to where Lohse winds up at this point.

Wed Feb 20 201314:06Rockies not expected to go after Kyle Lohse
Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post doesn't expect the Rockies to "enter the bidding" for Kyle Lohse.
Lohse is looking for a one-year deal to reestablish his value, and isn't going to risk pitching for a non-contender at hitter-friendly Coors Field. ESPN's Jim Bowden believes that the Brewers and Rangers are the "most likely" landing spots for Lohse. The 34-year-old right-hander registered a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 211 innings (33 starts) last season for the Cardinals and is linked to draft pick compensation.

Sun Feb 17 201309:17Brews not talking Lohse with Boras right now
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said that he is not in any "active conversations" with the agent for Kyle Lohse or anyone else.
Attanasio said his "ears are always open," but it sounds like the Brews would prefer to retain some payroll flexibility than bring in Lohse. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday that Lohse is expected to sign somewhere soon, but it appears that Milwaukee isn't a likely destination.

Thu Feb 14 201310:23Kyle Lohse 'almost certain' to sign deal soon
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal was told by sources that Kyle Lohse is "almost certain to sign with a team soon."
Lohse hasn't been tied recently to any specific club, but spring training is now fully underway so it figures that some sort of resolution is coming. The 34-year-old right-hander registered a fantastic 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 211 innings (33 starts) last season for the Cardinals but has struggled to attract offers this winter because signing him will cost a high 2013 draft pick.

Tue Feb 12 201315:13Rizzo: Nats not interested in Kyle Lohse
Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that the team doesn't have interest in Kyle Lohse at this time.
Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post wrote Tuesday morning that the Nationals "may try to swoop in and sign" Lohse as an insurance policy for Gio Gonzalez, but the chances of the arrangement appear remote. Similarly, ESPN's Jayson Stark was told by a Nationals' source that he didn't see a deal happening. It's worth nothing that the Nationals have been connected to free agent right-hander Javier Vazquez, who would likely come significantly cheaper and wouldn't cost a draft pick.

Tue Feb 12 201313:27Report: Indians won't sign Kyle Lohse
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Indians will not sign free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse.
The Indians swooped in to sign Michael Bourn after his market was slowed because he was tied to draft pick compensation, so some have speculated that they could take the same approach Lohse, who is also a Scott Boras client. However, it appears the Indians aren't willing to go there. Lohse, who posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 211 innings in 2012, is the last free agent standing among those who rejected a qualifying offer.

Tue Feb 5 201316:00Cardinals interest in Kyle Lohse 'negligible'
Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch hears that the Cardinals' interest in bringing back free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse is "negligible at this time."
The possibility was given new life after the news broke that Chris Carpenter is unlikely to pitch in 2013, but the Cardinals appear prepared to rely on in-house options like Trevor Rosenthal, Shelby Miller and Joe Kelly. It's worth noting that the Cardinals will receive a draft pick if Lohse signs elsewhere.

Tue Feb 5 201314:58Cards' GM downplays potential return of Lohse
During Tuesday's press conference regarding Chris Carpenter, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak downplayed the possibility of the club bringing back free agent right-hander Kyle Lohse.
"Right now we're comfortable with what we have," said Mozeliak, hinting that in-house options like Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosenthal and Joe Kelly will get the first crack at filling the void left by Carpenter. However, Mozeliak also said that if "something makes sense for us and as a group we feel it makes sense to consider, we may." Lohse posted a 2.86 ERA over 211 innings with the Cardinals in 2012 and has failed to draw much interest this winter because he is tied to draft pick compensation.

Sat Feb 2 201309:35Bowden: Red Sox make most sense for Lohse
Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and SiriusXM believes the Red Sox "make the most sense" at this point for Kyle Lohse.
Bowden also considers the Rangers, Angels, Brewers, and Orioles as possible landing spots. The Red Sox were linked to Lohse early in the offseason, but have already signed Ryan Dempster, and expect John Lackey (Tommy John surgery) to return for the start of the regular season. Lohse, who posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 211 innings in 2012, has struggled to attract interest in free agency because he's tied to draft pick compensation.
