Wed Sep 14 202200:37Felix Bautista Earns 13th Save Of Season Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista picked up his 13th save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Nationals. Bautista entered to pitch the ninth inning up by one. He allowed a leadoff walk and got the first two outs on a strikeout and flyout. The tying run advanced to second on a stolen base, but Bautista ended things there with another strikeout. It was nice to see the big flamethrower back for the O's, as he had missed several games with arm fatigue. Bautista has emerged as a solid fantasy closer, converting all but one save opportunity with a 1.60 ERA and an 11.90 K/9 rate. He should continue to be a strong fantasy option down the stretch as the O's compete for a playoff spot.

Mon Sep 12 202213:48Felix Bautista Was Available Sunday
Baltimore Orioles rookie closer Felix Bautista (arm) was available out of the bullpen on Sunday in the series finale against the Boston Red Sox. He's now recovered from the arm fatigue he felt after his six-out save over the Toronto Blue Jays last Tuesday. Manager Brandon Hyde said the bout of arm fatigue likely won't change Bautista's usage down the stretch, other than wanting to avoid using him for multiple innings. Bautista already leads the team in appearances with 60, a mark just seven behind the franchise's rookie record. The 27-year-old has been electric for Baltimore in 2022, posting a 1.62 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 12 saves and 80 strikeouts in 61 innings. Dillon Tate picked up a save with Bautista unavailable on Friday, but Bautista should get the team's next save chance.

Sat Sep 10 202218:23Felix Bautista Plays Catch Saturday, Could Be Available
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista (arm) played catch on Saturday and could be available to pitch, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The Orioles dominant closer didn't come in to pitch in a save situation on Friday, and Hyde told reporters after that Bautista is dealing with arm fatigue. It sounds like if he isn't ready to go today he will be good for tomorrow at the latest, so things are looking positive for the big righty and his fantasy owners. He has an outstanding 1.62 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 80 K in 61 IP while converting 12 of 13 save opportunities. He needs to be rostered in any league where saves matter.

Sat Sep 10 202211:48Felix Bautista Dealing With Arm Fatigue
Baltimore Orioles rookie closer Felix Bautista (arm) is dealing with arm fatigue, according to skipper Brandon Hyde. It explains why Dillon Tate came in to earn his fourth save of the year on Friday in the 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles want to give Bautista a few more days to rest, so if another save opportunity comes up again for Baltimore on Saturday or Sunday, it could be Tate or Cionel Perez getting the save chance. Fantasy managers should consider Bautista to be day-to-day-for now. The 27-year-old Dominican right-hander has been excellent for the contending O's in 2022, posting a 1.62 ERA (2.87 FIP), a 0.82 WHIP, 12 saves and 80 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched this year.

Fri Sep 2 202200:04Felix Bautista Picks Up 11th Save
Baltimore Orioles reliever Felix Bautista pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday to close out his team's 3-0 win over the Guardians. Despite walking the leadoff man, he was able to strike out a pair before getting Andres Gimenez to groundout to end the game and collect his 11th save of the season. Bautista has eight saves since the trade deadline and has allowed just one run over his last 15 1/3 innings pitched to give him a superb 1.53 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 78 K through 59 IP. Managers who scooped up his arm off waivers appear to have a legitimate lockdown closer for the duration of the 2022 campaign.

Fri Aug 26 202214:31Felix Bautista Picks Up Win Over White Sox
Baltimore Orioles rookie relief pitcher Felix Bautista picked up his fourth win of the year in Thursday's 4-3 extra-inning victory over the Chicago White Sox. Bautista tossed two shutout and hitless innings, walking none and striking out two. He came on to keep the White Sox off the board in the 10th and 11th frames. The 27-year-old right-hander has emerged as the closer for an up-and-coming Orioles team in the hunt for a wild-card spot down the stretch. In 56 relief outings in 2022, Bautista has a 1.62 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 73 strikeouts and 16 walks in 55 2/3 innings to go along with nine saves. In 11 outings in the month of August, he's perfect in six save chances and has struck out 17 in 12 1/3 frames.

Wed Aug 24 202200:54Felix Bautista Earns Five-Out Save Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista continued to impress in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the White Sox, earning his ninth save of the season. Bautista entered the game in the eighth inning up by two with one out and runners on first and third. He got the second out on a strikeout, hit a batter to load the bases, and ended the inning with a strikeout. Bautista stayed on to pitch the ninth inning and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The O's have been surprisingly competitive this season and Bautista has done a great job taking over the closer role. The big flamethrower now has a stellar 1.68 ERA and 11.91 K/9 rate in 53 2/3 innings pitched. Bautista looks like a player who could help win fantasy leagues and is still out there in some leagues with 76 percent rosterhip.

Baltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista turned in another solid performance in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays, picking up his seventh save of the season. Bautista entered to pitch the ninth inning with a two-run lead and turned in a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. The big righty has pitched well all season long and has slotted into the team's closer role since they traded Jorge Lopez at the trade deadline. Bautista has a 1.62 ERA with an 11.88 K/9 rate over 50 innings pitched and now appears to be a legitimate fantasy option down the stretch.

Wed Aug 10 202200:57Felix Bautista Converts Second Consecutive Save Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista earned his sixth save of the season and his second in the last two games in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Blue Jays. Bautista entered to close things out with a one-run lead. He got the first out on a flyout, allowed a single, got the second out on a strikeout, and ended the game by getting Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to line out. Bautista has a nasty pitch arsenal and has done very well for the O's this season, compiling a 1.69 ERA with a 12.00 K/9 rate. He appears to be worth a roster spot in all leagues at this time with Jorge Lopez leaving the bullpen at the trade deadline.

Tue Aug 9 202200:09Felix Bautista Earns Four-Out Save Monday
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista picked up his fifth save of the season in Monday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jays. Bautista came into the game up by two with two outs in the eighth inning and runners on first and second. He got a groundout to end the inning and stayed on to pitch the ninth inning. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reached first on an error and Alejandro Kirk singled, but Bautista then struck out Teoscar Hernandez and got Bo Bichette to ground into a double play to end the game. The big flamethrower has pitched very well overall this season and seems to be the favorite to take up the closing duties for the O's with Jorge Lopez traded. He now has a 1.72 ERA with a 12.06 K/9 rate. Bautista is worth a look in most fantasy leagues at this time given his strong performance and how well the O's have played.

Thu Jul 28 202216:30Felix Bautista Records Four-Out Save On Thursday
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista closed the door on the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday to earn his third save of the year. He pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of the game and retired each of the four batters he faced, striking out three along the way. The team's primary closer, Jorge Lopez, had pitched two consecutive days prior to Thursday, so he was likely unavailable for Thursday's game. While Lopez has had a few stumbles this year, he still has a stellar 1.71 ERA and 0.99 WHIP on the year. Even though Bautista has been even more dominant (1.50 ERA, 0.86 WHIP), it's unlikely that there's a changing of the guard in the ninth for the Orioles at this point.

Sat Jul 16 202221:20Felix Bautista Dealing With Upper Body Soreness
Baltimore Orioles pitcher Felix Bautista was unavailable for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay due to upper-body soreness. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde didn't provide any more specifics about his injury. The 27-year-old is considered day-to-day. He has racked up 12 holds, a 1.72 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 44:14 K: BB across 36 2/3 innings in 2022. Bautista has fantasy value in leagues that reward saves and holds. The Orioles right-hander has pitched well and could earn more save opportunities if Jorge Lopez falters.

Thu May 12 202216:35Felix Bautista Records His Second Save On Thursday
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista closed out the team's 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. He pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of the game, allowing one hit, no walks and no runs. He has now earned two saves over the last three days - the first two saves of his major league career. The 26-year-old has allowed just three earned runs over 14 innings this year (1.93 ERA). Both of his save opportunities have come with the team's primary closer Jorge Lopez on the bereavement list. Lopez should be back any day now. He's done a fine job in the closer role, converting 4-of-5 save chances with a 1.13 ERA, so we'd expect him to regain his status as the team's primary closer once he's back. However, Bautista is certainly on our radar now.

Wed May 11 202209:12Felix Bautista Locks Down His First Save On Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Felix Bautista recorded the final out in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals to earn his first save of the year. Dillon Tate first entered the game in the ninth inning with a 5-2 lead. He allowed a solo home run to Brendan Donovan to start the inning. He then allowed two of the next four batters to reach base before he was replaced in the game by Bautista. Bautista struck out Tyler O'Neill to end the game. The team's primary closer Jorge Lopez was placed on the bereavement list before the game. Tate has had a great year with a 2.45 ERA and 0.82 WHIP. He converted his first save opportunity this past weekend. He should be considered the next man up behind Lopez at this point, but Bautista, who has a solid 2.13 ERA and 1.11 WHIP himself, could be next after Tate.
