Sat Jan 12 201316:19Dempster will not pitch for Canada in WBC
Ryan Dempster was not listed on Team Canada's provisional WBC roster released on Saturday.
This doesn't come as a tremendous surprise, as Dempster indicated last month that he would likely pass on the WBC. It's encouraging to see that his main goal this offseason is to get himself ready to pitch for the Red Sox.

Wed Dec 19 201213:52Red Sox finalize contract with Ryan Dempster
Red Sox signed RHP Ryan Dempster to a two-year, $26.5 million contract.
Dempster turned down multiple two-year offers this offseason before ultimately signing with the Red Sox. While his level of play declined during the second half of 2012, he should add some stability to Boston's starting rotation. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio across 173 innings this past season between Chicago and Texas, but is likely due for a regression pitching in the AL East.

Thu Dec 13 201214:52Red Sox do 2-yr, $26.5M deal with Dempster
The Red Sox have signed Ryan Dempster to a two-year, $26.5 million deal, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
It's only pending a physical, which Dempster should easily pass. The 35-year-old right-hander also drew interest this offseason from the Brewers, Diamondbacks, Twins and others, but Boston seemed to take the lead pretty early on. Dempster posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this summer between the Cubs and Rangers. He's at the tail end of his career but should do fine over the course of this new two-year deal.

Thu Dec 13 201209:49Red Sox near agreement with Ryan Dempster
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Red Sox are close to an agreement with Ryan Dempster.
Dempster has turned down multiple two-year offers this winter in search of something a little longer and may have finally found it in his negotiations with Boston. The 35-year-old right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between Chicago and Texas. He'd bring some reliability to an iffy Red Sox rotation.

Wed Dec 12 201212:44Red Sox, Dempster in 'serious discussions'
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox are in "serious discussions" with free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster.
While the two sides are negotiating, Rosenthal hears that there's no deal yet and that it's possible Dempster could sign elsewhere. Last we heard, the veteran right-hander had declined a two-year, $25 million offer from the club and was holding out for three years. It's not clear whether either side has budged. Per Sean McAdam of CSNNewEngland.com, the Red Sox are also looking at Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, Francisco Liriano and Shaun Marcum.

Fri Dec 7 201223:00Dempster turns down 2-year offer from Red Sox
According to Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston, free agent Ryan Dempster turned down a two-year, $25 million offer from the Red Sox.
It's a similar offer to the rumored two-year, $26 million deal that he turned down from the Royals. Dempster is seeking a three-year deal with an average annual salary of at least $13 million. The Brewers, Royals and Cubs are all believed to be interested.

Wed Dec 5 201221:39Cubs not negotiating with Ryan Dempster
Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times says that reports of talks between the Cubs and Ryan Dempster "grossly misrepresents their nature" and negotiations are "not happening."
He goes on to say that a reunion is "implausible," while finishing out his tweet with a #courtesy hashtag. In other words, it appears that a report from Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago doesn't need to be taken too seriously. Dempster is on the lookout for a three-year deal, with the Brewers, Royals and Red Sox showing interest.

Wed Dec 5 201221:13Cubs have had talks with Dempster's agent
Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com reports that the Cubs have had discussions with Ryan Dempster's agent.
While a formal offer hasn't been made, Levine says the two sides have discussed money and length of a contract. He also notes that Dempster has offers on the table from other clubs for two and three years. While the Cubs almost surely won't give Dempster three years, it's possible he could wind up going back to where he's most comfortable if he doesn't find the deal he likes. Levine says a potential "sticking point" for a return would be Dempster's likely request of a no-trade clause, something the Cubs probably won't want to give him.

Wed Dec 5 201219:31Royals could offer Ryan Dempster three years
Jim Bowden of ESPN.com hears that the Royals could be willing to offer Ryan Dempster a three-year, $39 million deal.
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reported last week that they had offered Dempster a two-year, $26 million deal but dropped out when the bidding got too high. However, Bowden thinks they could relent and give the veteran righty a third year if it gets the deal done. The Brewers and Red Sox are also interested in Dempster.

Wed Dec 5 201211:33Brewers won't go over two years for Dempster
According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers aren't willing to go beyond two years with free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster.
Dempster is seeking three years and the Brewers will be out of the picture if someone is willing to go there. FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reported late Tuesday night that the veteran right-hander is seeking an annual salary close to the $13 million Dan Haren landed with the Nationals. The Red Sox are believed to be in the mix.

Wed Dec 5 201200:10Ryan Dempster asking for $13M per year
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Ryan Dempster is currently asking for "around Dan Haren money."
That would be $13 million per season, though Dempster doesn't have health concerns and, thus, is looking for a three-year deal. The Brewers would love to sign him, but he's probably going to have to drop his asking price a bit for that to happen. The Red Sox also remain interest in the veteran right-hander, while the Angels are no longer players.

Tue Dec 4 201221:19Brewers, Red Sox interested in Ryan Dempster
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Brewers and Red Sox remain interested in Ryan Dempster.
Heyman says the Angels have dropped out. He adds that the Brewers are a "logical fit," as Dempster lives nearby in Chicago and wants to go to spring training in Arizona. Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has met with Dempster's representatives at the Winter Meetings.

The Brewers are highly interested in working out an agreement with the veteran starter, but they don't want to go beyond two years. Dempster has also drawn interest from the Red Sox, Royals and Angels so far this offseason. Sun Dec 2 201223:24Diamondbacks, Twins 'check in' on Dempster
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports the Diamondbacks and Twins have "checked in" on Ryan Dempster.
The market for Dempster has been slow to develop, but that should pick up this week at the Winter Meetings. The Royals recently made a two-year, $26 million offer that was rejected, while the Red Sox and Angels have shown preliminary interest. According to Morosi, the Brewers also "remain in the mix."

Thu Nov 29 201217:18Royals made offer to Ryan Dempster
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports that the Royals recently made a two-year, $26 million offer to free agent right-hander Ryan Dempster, but dropped out when the bidding got too high.
The Royals are talking to multiple teams about a trade for a top starting pitcher, but they also continue to monitor possibilities in free agency. Dempster doesn't figure to come cheap after posting an excellent 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday that the Brewers, Red Sox and Angels are in the mix.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers, Red Sox and Angels are interested in Ryan Dempster.
The Red Sox and Brewers had already been linked to Dempster this offseason, but the Angels -- who reportedly just bowed out of the Zack Greinke bidding -- are a newcomer. Dempster, 35, posted an excellent 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers.

Thu Nov 8 201223:43Rosenthal: Brewers interested in Dempster
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Brewers are interested in Ryan Dempster.
With Shaun Marcum likely to leave as a free agent, the Brews would like to add at least one starter, and Dempster would seem to be a good fit. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this season for the Cubs and Rangers. The Red Sox, Twins and Cubs are also reportedly interested.

Thu Nov 8 201219:24Red Sox mildly interested in Ryan Dempster
Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald hears that the Red Sox have shown "only preliminary interest" in Ryan Dempster.
Lauber notes that they weren't terribly interested in Dempster at the trade deadline, either. The Red Sox will almost surely acquire at least one starter this offseason, but it sounds like Dempster isn't near the top of their wish list.

Thu Nov 8 201209:06Twins have 'inquired' about Ryan Dempster
Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500 in Minnesota reports that the Twins have "inquired" about Ryan Dempster.
The Twins badly need to upgrade their pitching staff this offseason if they want to compete in 2013, and Dempster would certainly be a start. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 153/52 K/BB ratio in 173 innings this past season between the Cubs and Rangers. He would probably enjoy Target Field.
