Baseball fans will get a good glimpse into both front office's ideologies going forward whether a deal is consummated or not.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal heard from a source Monday that the Cubs are "trying to bend over backwards" to trade right-hander Ryan Dempster to the Dodgers.

Dempster has 10-and-5 rights and has already used them once this summer to block a trade to the Braves. Rosenthal calls Los Angeles the veteran starter's "desired" destination. Now it's all about finding a match.
