Fri Mar 15 201320:35Seth Smith continues his sizzling spring
Seth Smith continued his sizzling spring on Friday, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI as the A's played the D'Backs to a 2-2 tie.
The veteran outfielder is now hitting .435 (10-for-23) with a homer and six RBI this spring. He's getting an extended look at first base this spring in an effort to increase his versatility. While he hammers right-handed pitching, it's difficult to see him garnering more than 400 at-bats in the A's crowded outfield, making him a difficult play in fantasy leagues.

Sat Feb 16 201310:15Oakland considering Seth Smith at first base
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Athletics could give Seth Smith an extended look at first base.
Smith only plays against right-handed pitching, so he wouldn't be a platoon option with Brandon Moss, but the versatility might increase his playing time. The Athletics are also giving Michael Taylor an extended look at first base in spring training.

Sun Apr 29 201216:22Seth Smith hits second home run in loss
Seth Smith went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
He took Tommy Hunter deep in the seventh inning. Smith's second home run of the season came in his first multi-hit effort. Smith and the pitcher-friendly American League West have proven to be a disastrous couple, as the former Boston outfielder is hitting just .211/.361/.316. A platoon player, he won't be worth owning in a large majority of mixed leagues even if he starts to hit.
