Sun Jan 26 201421:45Anderson Varejao hyper-extends knee Sunday
Anderson Varejao injured his left knee during Sunday's game, when a Suns' player rolled into his leg, but he quickly returned to the lineup and finished with two points, 10 rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes.
Cavaliers fans held their breath as Varejao rolled around in pain after hyper-extending his knee, and after the game he was optimistic but not certain that he would be ready to play on Tuesday. "I'll be fine ... I'm trying to stay positive," he said. After playing in just 81 games combined over the past three seasons, Varejao has yet to miss a game in 2013-14.

Mon Jan 20 201415:43Anderson Varejao drops 18 points & 21 boards
Anderson Varejao grabbed 21 boards against the Mavericks on Monday with 18 points, four assists and two steals in 38 minutes.
He has been outstanding on the boards over his last four, averaging 17.3 per game over his four. Varejao added some nice averages of 2.0 steals, 5.3 assists and 12.3 points in that span and has been involved more in the offense. Fantasy owners still have to worry about his injury risk, but he's a must-start play in all leagues right now.

Sat Jan 18 201400:43Anderson Varejao grabs 16 boards vs. Denver
Anderson Varejao grabbed 16 boards against the Nuggets on Friday with seven points, seven assists, three steals and one block in 31 minutes.
His seven assists set a career high and he's coming off a six-dime game on Tuesday and a solid game on Wednesday. Varejao is dominating on the glass over his last five, averaging 13.8 boards per game to go with 9.0 points, 5.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks. His value can't get much higher than it is right now.

Wed Jan 15 201401:14Andy Varejao goes for 18 & 18 in win
Anderson Varejao hit 7-of-11 shots for 18 points, 18 rebounds and six assists as the Cavaliers beat the Lakers on Tuesday.
Some blocks or steals would have been nice, but no one is complaining after this one. The 18 points tied his season high, which he's done four times this season. He's been fantastic since Andrew Bynum was shut down and is averaging 11 points and 15 rebounds over his last seven games. He's also hit double figures in rebounds in nine of his last 11 games, and once again looks like a waiver-wire gem. Of course, an injury could quickly bring things to a halt, but for now, Varejao is a must-start fantasy center.

Sun Jan 12 201420:55Varejao thrives, but score sends him to bench
Anderson Varejao's all-around game was on display in the first half of Sunday's game, and he finished Cleveland's loss with 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and one steal in 26 minutes.
Injuries have defined the past few seasons for Varejao, but he's yet to miss a game this season and his fantasy value spiked when Andrew Bynum was waived last week. Varejao barely played in the second half as Sacramento built a commanding lead, so he should be rested and ready for the Cavs' upcoming three-game week.

Tue Jan 7 201423:05Anderson Varejao bounces back Tuesday
Anderson Varejao had 18 points, 14 rebounds and a block in Tuesday's win over the Sixers.
Varejao has racked up double digits in rebounds in six straight games and it was nice to see him break out tonight after scoring a total of 11 points in his previous two games. His scoring could be an issue going forward, but he's scored 18, 7, 4, 18 and 14 points over his last five games, leaving some hope that he can mix in some big scoring nights to offset the bad ones.

Sat Jan 4 201422:56Anderson Varejao back to earth in loss
Anderson Varejao had four points, 12 rebounds and two blocks on 2-of-6 shooting in Saturday's loss to the Nets.
He blew up for 18 points and 25 rebounds on Thursday against the Magic, but didn't fare as well against the Nets, despite Reggie Evans starting at center, Brook Lopez out for the season and Kevin Garnett sitting out to rest. Varejao has become a must-own/start player with Andrew Bynum no longer a factor for the Cavs and should be better than this on most nights.

Thu Jan 2 201422:08Anderson Varejao goes off for 18 & 25
Anderson Varejao hit 8-of-17 shots for 18 points (ties season high), a career-high 25 rebounds and a block in 39 minutes of Thursday's overtime win against the Magic.
This was a perfect storm for Varejao with Nikola Vucevic out for the Magic. Varejao dominated Jason Maxiell tonight and had his best game in a long time. He's been a rebounding machine for five games now and is averaging 10.8 points, 14.6 boards and 1.14 blocks over his last five games. And with Andrew Bynum's days in Cleveland apparently over, Varejao should control the paint until further notice.

Tue Dec 31 201317:39Anderson Varejao double-doubles vs. Indiana
Anderson Varejao double-doubled vs. the Pacers with 14 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 30 minutes.
AV turned the ball over just once and his activity on offense is the big story here. This was the first time in nine games that he's scored double-digit points, and his 5-of-13 shooting easily set a new season-high for attempts. Tyler Zeller (seven points, five boards) is settling in as the Cavs' backup center and Varejao could average around a double-double per game if he sticks in his current role. Just be aware that recent rumors involved the Cavs possibly trading Andrew Bynum to L.A. for Pau Gasol.

Tue Dec 31 201312:50Anderson Varejao to start for Cavs Tuesday
Anderson Varejao will start for the Cavs when they take on the Pacers on Tuesday afternoon.
Varejao saw 37 minutes in the Cavs' first game with Andrew Bynum suspended and will likely see a similar amount of minutes going forward unless Cleveland makes a move (they're rumored to be looking at Pau Gasol). Varejao's offensive game is a bit limited, but there is no reason that the 31-year-old shouldn't average double-digit rebounds as long as he's starting.

Fri Dec 27 201300:17Andeson Varejao grabs 17 boards w/ eight pts
Anderson Varejao grabbed 17 rebounds in Thursday's double-overtime loss to the Hawks, adding eight points, three assists, one steal and three blocks in 35 minutes.
He checked in for Andrew Bynum at the 8:42 mark in the third quarter and was a part of the action for most of the time following that point while Bynum did not return to the game. Varejao has been in a timeshare with Bynum, but his 28.5 minutes per game have yielded seventh-round value in standard leagues.

Tue Dec 24 201300:54Varejao struggles in blowout loss
Anderson Varejao struggled in Monday's blowout loss, scoring two points on 1-of-1 shooting with four rebounds and one steal in 19 minutes.
Varejao has really struggled over the past two weeks and owners will want to move him to their bench. He's still a mid-to-late round value in 9- and 8-cat formats, respectively, so owners will want to exercise patience when considering a drop.

Fri Dec 13 201322:37Anderson Varejao double-doubles in win
Anderson Varejao had 10 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Friday's win.
Andrew Bynum has disappeared over the last two games and anytime that happens, Varejao is likely to step up his game. Varejao has also been involved in trade rumors and a move could serve him well, just like an injury to Bynum would do. If you own him, just hang onto him until the smoke clears.

Sat Dec 7 201322:20Anderson Varejao grabs season-high 17 boards
Anderson Varejao scored six points, blocked one shot and grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds in Saturday's victory, five of which came on the offensive glass.
Varejao flashed the dominance he had when healthy last season, but he'll be a hot-and-cold source of value as long as Andrew Bynum (18 points, six rebounds) is healthy. Owners willing to ride the waves are being rewarded thus far, as Varejao is averaging 8.6 points, 7.9 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.7 blocks with solid FG percentages and a minuscule 0.9 turnovers per game.

Wed Dec 4 201322:19Andy Varejao gets loose for 18 & 13
Anderson Varejao had 18 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and three blocks in Wednesday's impressive win over the Nuggets.
The 18 points were a season high, while the 13 boards tied his high for this season. The Nuggets are absolutely rotten in defending opposing big and Varejao took advantage of it tonight. He had just six points and five boards in his previous game, but is still putting up decent numbers on the season (11 points, 8 boards, 1 block), despite the presence of Andrew Bynum.

Sat Nov 30 201322:50Anderson Varejao struggles as Bynum explodes
Anderson Varejao had six points, five rebounds and zero blocks in 24 minutes of Saturday's win over the Bulls.
Andrew Bynum went nuts for the Cavs tonight, racking up 20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. And anytime that happens, things are going to be tough on Varejao. He's averaging just 7.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 0.4 blocks over his last five games, meaning he should be on fantasy benches until Bynum gets hurt.

Sat Nov 30 201302:37Varejao double-doubles off the bench
Anderson Varejao double-doubled off the bench on Friday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting with 12 rebounds, two steals and one block in 26 minutes.
It seems logical that more of Anderson Varejao on the floor would help with the Cavs' effort and leadership issues, but he's averaging just 26 minutes per game over the past two weeks. He's still a must-own player in standard formats and might be ready to get it going.

Wed Nov 20 201323:00Anderson Varejao double-doubles in loss
Anderson Varejao came off the bench for 14 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting in Wednesday's loss.
With Andrew Bynum barely able to play, you have to think Varejao's time is coming. He's holding his own on most nights, and while he's not a must-start player, he could quickly become one if he's put into the starting five soon.

Thu Nov 14 201300:37Anderson Varejao scored 13 points in start
Anderson Varejao scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting against the Wolves on Wednesday with five boards, three assists and one steal in 29 minutes.
Andrew Bynum was out due to personal reasons, so Varejao will get one more start on Friday. He was out of position quite a bit tonight and allowed a lot of easy buckets for the Wolves. Varejao's value is trending down, but he might be worth a start on Friday against the Bobcats.

Mon Nov 11 201323:44Anderson Varejao doesn't do much off bench
Anderson Varejao came off the bench on Monday, playing 29 minutes with five points, six boards, three assists, two steals and two blocks against the Bulls.
The Cavs decided to move Andrew Bynum into the starting lineup and it cost Varejao some minutes and stats. He's never really been a guy that will knock your socks off outside of the rebounding numbers, so his value does take a hit. Although, Bynum is going to sit out here and there, so Varejao owners might be able to take advantage of using him in certain circumstances.
