Mon Feb 17 201418:53Anderson Varejao won't travel to Philly Tues.
Anderson Varejao (knee, back, wrist) will not travel to Philadelphia for Tuesday's game.
Not even traveling for Tuesday doesn't bode well for Wednesday's game against the Magic either. Varejao sitting out on Tuesday will be his third game out of the lineup due to multiple injuries. He also had missed three games a few weeks ago and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the injury-prone Varejao wound up on the sidelines. The team has leaned more on Anthony Bennett and Tyler Zeller more without AV, but they're no options in most formats.

Tue Feb 11 201422:08Anderson Varejao won't travel for Wednesday
Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) will not travel for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.
This will be his second consecutive game out of the lineup and will be his sixth in his last nine games. Varejao has been one of the more injury-prone players in the NBA and the All-Star break is coming at the right time for him. In hindsight, the Cavs probably should not have played Varejao 43 minutes on Sunday. Anthony Bennett and Henry Sims seem to be benefitting with AV out while Tyler Zeller has not.

Tue Feb 11 201418:52Varejao out Tuesday w/ variety of ailments
Anderson Varejao (back, wrist, knee) will not play on Tuesday and he's listed as day-to-day.
Coach Mike Brown said that Varejao's "whole body" hurts and it's not surprising to see Cleveland give him a day off. With the All-Star break looming this also casts doubt on Varejao's status for Wednesday's matchup with the Pistons, but owners should check back for updates following the Cavs' shootaround. Tyler Zeller will start at center in his absence.

Mon Feb 10 201414:39MRI negative for Anderson Varejao (back)
An MRI on Anderson Varejao's back came back negative but he's questionable to play Tuesday vs. the Kings.
Varejao was already dealing with a bruised knee and a hand injury, and it appears coach Mike Brown wasn't kidding when he said that Varejao's "whole body is hurting." The Cavs play back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday before getting almost a week off. The team may be tempted to rest AV rather than risk aggravtating his ailments, but we should have a clearer idea of his status after Tuesday's shootaround.

Sun Feb 9 201423:19Varejao fights through knee, hand ailments
Anderson Varejao may have injured his hand on Sunday and he received treatment for an hour after the game.
Varejao's bruised knee is also a lingering issue, yet he tied his season-high by playing 43 minutes in Sunday's much-needed victory. Head coach Mike Brown gave no indication that Varejao's status for Tuesday's game is in jeopardy, but he did deliver an amusing line about his starting center's injury woes. "His whole body's hurting," Brown said. "The only thing that may not be hurting are his curls." We'll include AV on the injury report as a precaution, and owners should check for updates on Monday.

Sun Feb 9 201421:37Varejao plays 43 minutes, tying season high
Anderson Varejao played 43 minutes vs. Memphis on Sunday, tying his season-high, and he finished with four points, 14 rebounds, five assists and one block.
Varejao clearly isn't a go-to option offensively, getting most of his points on mop-up duty or occasional pick-and-pops, but his rebounding and quiet contributions across the board have been enough for solid mid-round fantasy value this season. His high playing time was even more encouraging given his recent left knee injury, which obviously isn't a big concern heading into the All-Star break.

Wed Feb 5 201422:57Anderson Varejao played 35 minutes vs. LAL
Anderson Varejao played 35 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday with 15 points, 13 boards, five assists and two steals.
He was immune to the mess of the Cavs rotation with coach Mike Brown benching 80 percent of his starting lineup in a loss. Varejao has played very well while he's healthy and turned in an impressive 13.8 rebounds per game in January. He should be starting in all formats right now and his knee injury looks to be behind him.

Wed Feb 5 201417:33Anderson Varejao won't have a minutes cap
Anderson Varejao will not have a minutes restriction against the Lakers on Wednesday night.
He played juts 25 minutes i his return on Monday, scoring just 10 points with five boards and three steals. The Cavs were absolutely destroyed inside by the Mavs on Monday, so they'll need as much AV as they can get. Varejao should be in all fantasy lineups.

Tue Feb 4 201417:44Anderson Varejao (knee) may have minute-limit
Anderson Varejao (knee) isn't sure whether he'll remain on a minute-limit vs. the Lakers on Wednesday.
He was limited to 25 minutes in his return to action on Monday and said that he still has some residual pain, but he felt fine during the game and Tuesday's practice. He's also adjusting to playing with a brace on his left knee and we'll be keeping a close watch on his playing time over the next few games.

Tue Feb 4 201402:02Varejao (knee) returns on a slow night
Anderson Varejao (knee) returned to action after a three-game absence on Monday, scoring 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting with five rebounds and three steals in 25 minutes.
Varejao was on a 25-minute limit and he hasn't popped up on any postgame injury reports. Owners can get him back in lineups if he wasn't there already.

Mon Feb 3 201419:30Anderson Varejao (knee) good to go on Monday
Anderson Varejao (knee) said he will play against the Mavericks on Monday night.
The Cavs have missed him badly in the last three games, losing all of them and having their locker room fall apart in the process. Varejao should be going back to his days of playing 30 minutes per night and flirting with double-doubles. Fantasy owners can plug him back into their lineups and hopefully he won't aggravate it tonight.

Mon Feb 3 201411:55Anderson Varejao (knee) game-time vs. Mavs
Anderson Varejao (knee) remains a game-time decision vs. the Mavericks on Monday.
This isn't the update Varejao's fantasy owners were hoping for. He missed Saturday's game despite coach Mike Brown's expectation that he would play, and owners should prepare to be without him just in case he sits out again. The Cavs are shooting 40.2 percent in three games without Varejao.

Sat Feb 1 201418:49Anderson Varejao (knee) ruled out Saturday
Anderson Varejao (knee) will not play on Saturday, contrary to coach Mike Brown's expectations.
Brown previously said that Varejao was likely to suit up vs. the Rockets but his knee must have responded poorly to shootaround and pre-game warmups. Tyler Zeller will do his best to contain Dwight Howard on Saturday, and the only good news is that Varejao was a legitimate game-time decision. Hopefully he's ready to go in Dallas on Monday.

Sat Feb 1 201413:37Anderson Varejao (knee) probable Saturday
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown expects Anderson Varejao (knee) to return vs. the Rockets on Saturday.
This isn't a definitive update and owners should still double-check his status closer to tip-off. Varejao has been fitted with a brace which he'll almost certainly wear to protect his bruised left knee from further damage.

Thu Jan 30 201420:21Anderson Varejao will not play for Cleveland
Anderson Varejao (knee) will not play against the Knicks on Thursday.
Tyler Zeller will start in place of Varejao yet again with Anthony Bennett hopeful to have another positive game off the bench. Varejao should be considered questionable vs. Houston on Saturday.

Thu Jan 30 201412:24Anderson Varejao hoping to return Thursday
Anderson Varejao (knee) is hopeful that he'll return for Thursday's game against the Knicks.
Varejao said that he "feared the worst" when he originally injured his knee, but is now confident that he'll be able to return soon even if he misses Thursday's game against New York. We're going to consider him questionable for Thursday night until more information is available, and Tyler Zeller and Anthony Bennett stand to see a value bump if he is unable to suit up.

Wed Jan 29 201416:21Anderson Varejao at practice on Wednesday
Anderson Varejao (knee) participated in portions of practice and traveled with the team for Thursday's game against the Knicks.
He is still day-to-day and should be considered questionable for Thursday . Varejao's knee bruise kept him from playing on Tuesday and it allowed Tyler Zeller to register a double-double while Anthony Bennett had a career-high 15 points. AV's fantasy owners should check back for an update on his status after Thursday morning's shootaround.

Tue Jan 28 201418:12Anderson Varejao (knee) ruled out Tuesday
Anderson Varejao (bruised knee) will not play vs. the Magic on Tuesday.
Tyler Zeller will fill in at center in his absence but the second-year big man is an uninspiring fantasy option, having averaged 8.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in 55 starts last year. The Cavs finish their week with road games in New York on Thursday and Houston on Saturday, and owners will need to check back frequently for injury updates. The good news is that an MRI ruled out any serious damage for Varejao, who is listed as day-to-day.

Tue Jan 28 201412:09Varejao (knee) questionable to play Tuesday
An MRI confirmed that Anderson Varejao has a bruised left knee, and he's questionable to play vs. the Pelicans on Tuesday.
This is unequivocally good news considering Varejao's injury history. He has been fitted for a brace and the team's official update lists his odds of playing as "50/50." If he can't suit up Tyler Zeller will start at center.

Mon Jan 27 201415:30Anderson Varejao diagnosed w/ knee contusion
An MRI on Monday confirmed Anderson Varejao suffered a left knee contusion.
He missed practice on Monday with the injury and the Cavs haven't announced a timetable just yet. This is good news for Varejao and it would seem more like a day-to-day issue from what could have been a bad injury on Sunday. Tyler Zeller will step up in place of AV and is worth a look in deeper leagues as a low-upside big man.
