Wed Nov 3 202114:53Brandon Ingram Expected To Sit Versus Kings
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (hip) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He was unable to play during Tuesday's contest while dealing with a hip issue. The Pelicans are normally overly cautious with their players, so there's a good chance that Ingram sits out. That means, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Josh Hart should see more playing time and usage. Both should be fine streaming options until Ingram gets back on the court. Fantasy managers should check back later in the day for another update on Ingram.

Tue Nov 2 202118:53Brandon Ingram Won't Play Tuesday
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (hip), listed as questionable, has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Suns. It's not surprising to see Ingram ruled out for a second straight game, as he missed this morning's shootaround. The Pelicans will lean on Jonas Valanciunas, Devone' Graham (groin), and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, with Josh Hart likely in line to make another start in Ingram's absence.

Mon Nov 1 202119:59Brandon Ingram's Status Up In The Air For Tuesday
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (hip) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Suns. Ingram missed Saturday's contest against the Knicks with a right hip contusion, an ailment that could cost him another game, as head coach Willie Green noted that the injured area is still sore. If Ingram is indeed out, it could mean more usage for Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte' Graham (groin), who is also questionable, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. If Graham is also out, Alexander-Walker would be a prime DFS play, as he would handle the majority of the ball-handling opportunities Tuesday night.

Sat Oct 30 202115:38Brandon Ingram Unlikely To Play Against The Knicks
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (hip) is unlikely to suit up against the Knicks. A bruise on the right hip of the 24-year-old continues to plague him, which puts him in danger of also missing Tuesday's matchup in Phoenix. If he does indeed sit out against New York, Devonte' Graham and Nickeil Alexander-Walker would be the favorites to benefit, although Josh Hart has value in GPP formats based on his upside.

Tue Oct 26 202111:34Brandon Ingram Pours In Team-High 27 Points
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram scored 27 points with nine boards, four triples, and one assist in Monday's 107-98 win over the Timberwolves. Ingram led the Pelicans to their first win of the year, scoring 25-plus points on at least 46 percent shooting from the field for the fourth straight contest. The former number-two overall pick has the ball in his hands more than ever with Lonzo Ball out of town and Zion Williamson (foot) sidelined- and such usage could lead to a career year for the 24-year-old. He'll get a bit of a tricky matchup against an improved Hawks defense- though he should remain in lineups given his role in the offense.

Sat Oct 23 202114:19Brandon Ingram Scores 26 Points Against Bulls
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram finished with a team-high 26 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field in Friday's 128-112 loss against the Bulls. Ingram posted a great all-around line as he added eight rebounds, eight assists, two three-pointers made and two turnovers in the contest. Ingram will continue to carry the workload with Zion Williamson (foot) sidelined to begin the season, making the 24-year-old forward an elite option across all fantasy formats.

Thu Oct 21 202108:20Brandon Ingram Scores Game-High 25 Points
New Orleans Pelicans small forward Brandon Ingram led all scorers with 25 points on Wednesday against Philadelphia but couldn't save his side from a big 117-97 home loss. He shot 12-for-26 from the field with a 1-for-3 record from behind the arc. Ingram's line included seven rebounds, six assists and one block with four turnovers. The backcourt of Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Devonte' Graham combined for 41 points, but that was pretty much it offensively for the team. It was a big struggle throughout the night and the next game isn't going to be easier either. The Pelicans travel to Chicago to take on a new-look Bulls. Ingram was limited to below 40 percent shooting by Chicago last season and averaged only 21 points.

Sun Oct 10 202115:10Brandon Ingram Should Be Ready For Opening Night
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram (knee) is expected to be ready to play for the season opener, according to head coach Willie Green. He is dealing with a minor knee injury and will be held out of the preseason finale. The Pelicans are obviously going to be cautious with their superstar forward. Ingram should be a safe option in the first few rounds of fantasy drafts.

Tue Jul 27 202118:32New coach Green sees Pelicans primed to ascend as Suns have
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — New Pelicans coach Willie Green sees New Orleans as a team on the cusp of contending — a conclusion he explains by referencing his past two years with the Phoenix Suns. “This situation actually reminds me a lot of Phoenix,” Green said during his formal introduction on Tuesday, highlighting “really high-talented players” such as 2021 All-Star Zion Williamson and 2020 All-Star Brandon Ingram. The Pelicans are “really close to taking the next step,” Green said. “Going into next season, that’s our goal. That’s our mindset and that makes it a sleeping giant.” In Green’s first season with Phoenix as an assistant to Monty Williams, the Suns narrowly missed the 2020 playoffs. This season, they advanced to the NBA finals and won the first two games of that series before Milwaukee stormed back to take the title. A former NBA player who turns 40 on Wednesday, Green was hired last week to his first head coaching job. He emerged as a top candidate several weeks ago while helping... [More]
Wed Jun 16 202118:45Pelicans coach Stan Van Gundy out after 1 season at helm
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin paused several seconds to compose himself while explaining why Stan Van Gundy is out as coach less than nine months after he was hired to develop a young roster featuring budding superstar Zion Williamson. “This was something that was very, very difficult,” Griffin said, adding that the need for a new coach "revealed itself over some very open, candid conversations with a really, really good man” during the past three weeks. While the Pelicans missed the postseason after finishing 10 games below .500, Griffin insisted his team's new coaching vacancy did not result from too few victories. “This was wrought in our philosophical difference in the way we're going to reach the next step in our development," Griffin said. “We don’t have time to waste." Hired last October, about two months before the start of a pandemic-delayed and shortened season, Van Gundy coached the Pelicans to a 31-41 record. New Orleans finished... [More]
Wed Jun 16 202113:05Pelicans coach Stan Van Gundy out after 1 season at helm
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Stan Van Gundy is out as Pelicans coach following just one season at the helm. “This was a difficult decision as I have tremendous respect for Stan both personally and professionally," Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin said Wednesday. “But we agreed it is in the best interest of our team to move forward in a different direction.” The club described Van Gundy's departure as a mutual agreement “to part ways.” Hired last October, about two months before the start of a pandemic-delayed and shortened season, Van Gundy coached a Pelicans squad led by All-Star Zion Williamson to a 31-41 record. New Orleans finished in 11th place, two games out of the final Western Conference play-in spot. Now Griffin will be hiring his second coach in as many season after firing Alvin Gentry last summer. The next coach will be Williamson's third since he entered the NBA as the league's first overall draft choice in 2019. Griffin had articulated higher hopes for Van Gundy when... [More]

Wed Jun 16 202111:45AP source: Pelicans coach Stan Van Gundy out after 1 season
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Stan Van Gundy is out as Pelicans coach following just one season at the helm, a person familiar with the situation said. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the move has not been publicly announced. Hired last October, about two months before the start of a pandemic-delayed and shortened season, Van Gundy coached a Pelicans squad led by All-Star Zion Williamson to a 31-41 record. New Orleans finished in 11th place, a few game out of the final Western Conference play-in spot. The move means Pelicans basketball operations chief David Griffin will be hiring his second coach in as many season after firing Alvin Gentry last summer. The next coach will be Williamson's third since he entered the NBA as the league's first overall draft choice in 2019. Griffin had articulated higher hopes for Van Gundy when he hired him, at age 61 to oversee a roster in which most players were younger than 25. “This is a proven winner and this... [More]
Mon May 17 202119:36Williamson, Griffin, offer different views of Pelicans' play
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zion Williamson takes little comfort in how close the New Orleans Pelicans came to qualifying for the postseason. If anything, the 20-year-old All-Star put the club on notice about the urgency with which he'd like New Orleans to approach this offseason. “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is kind of insane, so I’m not going to going to sit here and say we’re close,” Williamson said. “The reality of it is it was very disappointing not to be a part of the play-in tournament and stuff. But we just got to come in and just be better. That’s just me being real.” Those comments ran somewhat counter to the narrative promulgated by Pelicans chief basketball executive David Griffin, who saw his team as one that looked far more competitive that its 31-41 record during coach Stan Van Gundy's first season with the club. The Pelicans blew 14 double-digit leads and had a rash of late-season injuries to key players, including Williamson, before winding... [More]
Fri May 7 202118:32Pelicans' Williamson out indefinitely with fractured finger
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — New Orleans star Zion Williamson is sidelined indefinitely with a fractured left finger, a major blow to the Pelicans' run at a Western Conference play-in spot. The 20-year-old forward averaged 27 points and 7.2 rebounds in 61 games and the injury comes before the Pelicans opened a five-game trip against certain or potential playoff teams. The Pelicans made the announcement Friday before they played the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers. The Pelicans said a timetable for Williamson’s return would be determined upon further evaluation. He appeared to hurt the finger trying to grab a rebound Tuesday against Golden State. Pelicans vice president of basketball David Griffin ripped the NBA and its officiating for not doing more to protect their franchise player. “I'm really frustrated because this was avoidable,” he said. “We told the NBA through every means available to us, through sending in film, through speaking to everybody in the officials department, everybody... Thu May 6 202119:12Zion, Pelicans primed for last-gasp bid to make postseason
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zion Williamson and the mercurial New Orleans Pelicans may yet have something to say about the NBA postseason. San Antonio’s recent five-game skid has helped the Pelicans pull within 1 1/2 games of the final Western Conference play-in spot with six games to go. Meanwhile, the Pelicans have shaken off seemingly back-breaking losses to win three out of four, with their past two victories each requiring fourth-quarter comebacks. “It says a lot about our character,” Williamson said after Tuesday night's victory over Golden State. “We’ve been resilient all year long and we’re not going to stop now.” The next challenge for the Pelicans requires taking their banged-up squad on the road for five games against certain or potential playoff teams. The trip starts Friday at Eastern Conference leader Philadelphia, where Pelicans second-leading scorer Brandon Ingram will be out of the lineup with a left ankle sprain. It's also unclear when Ingram will return after that. The Pelicans... [More]
Wed May 5 202118:52Pelicans rule out Ingram vs. 76ers with sprained left ankle
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram has been diagnosed with a left low ankle sprain and has been ruled out of Friday night's game in Philadelphia. The Pelicans announced Ingram's status after a scan Wednesday confirmed the preliminary diagnosis he received when the injury occurred during Tuesday night's 108-103 victory over Golden State. Ingram was hurt in the second quarter and tried to play through the pain until leaving the game for good in the latter portion of the third quarter, having scored 13 points. The club says Ingram, who has averaged 23.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season, will be day-to-day after Friday night's game against the 76ers. Ingram is New Orleans' second-leading scorer behind Zion Williamson, who averages 27 points per game. The Pelicans, who have six regular-season games remaining, entered Wednesday two games behind San Antonio for the final Western Conference play-in spot, and three games behind both Memphis and Golden State. New Orleans plays its next five games on the road before finishing the season at home against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/nba and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
