Tue Sep 13 201108:30Dumervil hurt his shoulder Monday night
Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil was in and out of the lineup Monday night due to a strained left shoulder and will have an MRI Tuesday.
Dumervil said he originally hurt the shoulder in practice and then appeared to aggravate it in the first quarter. Jason Hunter took over in the base defense, with Dumervil coming on in pass-rushing situations only. One of game's premier sack artists missed the entire 2010 season due to a pectoral tear.

Thu Mar 31 201121:08All charges against Dumervil dismissed
Assault and disturbing the peace charges against Broncos DE Elvis Dumervil have been dismissed for an October incident at Invesco Field.
As they should have been. An overzealous parking attendant wouldn't let Dumervil into the Broncos' stadium when he forgot his player credentials. Dumervil gained clearance after making a cell-phone call to a team official, but an argument ensued nonetheless. Consider it a non-story.

Fri Feb 25 201115:43Dumervil will be every-down end for Fox
Broncos coach John Fox says he "unquestionably" envisions Elvis Dumervil as an every-down defensive end.
Fox's plan is to start Dumervil at weak-side end with Robert Ayers on the strong side. The new coach sounds high on both outside rushers, making it somewhat difficult to imagine the Broncos using the No. 2 pick on another one. If we had to guess, we'd say Denver will draft Marcell Dareus or Nick Fairley.

Sat Feb 12 201110:59Broncos moving Dumervil back to defensive end
Elvis Dumervil is expected to move back to defensive end in the Broncos' new 4-3 defensive alignment.
The Broncos are putting scheme before personnel, which is a dangerous undertaking on defense. Of course, it isn't like their defense can get much worse. Dumervil did rack up 21 sacks at end in his first two NFL seasons, but fell to five in 2008 before a 17-sack explosion at outside 'backer in 2009. He missed all of 2010 with tears in his pectoral muscle and tendon.

Fri Jan 14 201109:24Broncos to go with hybrid look on defense?
Coach John Fox hinted earlier in the week that the Broncos may have to go with a hybrid look on defense in 2011.
Fox has traditionally coached a 4-3 scheme, but the Broncos have spent the past two years acquiring players to fit the 3-4. Either way, Elvis Dumervil should be the primary beneficiary of Fox's arrival. He's proven capable at end and edge rusher. Fox's success with pass rushers includes Michael Strahan's record-breaking season as well as Julius Peppers' six years of double-digit sacks.

Tue Jan 11 201113:09Dumervil case set for April 5
Elvis Dumervil's Denver County assault and disturbing the peace case is scheduled to be tried April 5.
Dumervil has pleaded not guilty to both charges. The incident occurred before a Raiders game in October when Dumervil was not allowed into the player's entrance because he forgot his identification. It sounds like an overzealous parking attendant was at the heart of the matter.

Wed Dec 22 201023:13Report: Injured LB Dumervil cited for assault
KDVR Denver reports that injured Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil was cited for assault following the team's Week 7 loss to Oakland.
Dumervil, who is on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle, allegedly tussled with a parking attendant outside Invesco Field. He was cited for both assault and disturbing the peace. Dumervil has no history of such transgressions, and the citation seems minor enough that he may avoid NFL discipline. Dumervil is the fourth Broncos player arrested this season. LB Kevin Alexander, CB Perrish Cox, and LB D.J. Williams are the others.

Sun Sep 5 201003:33Broncos place Dumervil on I.R.
Broncos placed OLB Elvis Dumervil on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle, ending his season.
We've known this move was coming for months, but it's now official. Dumervil has plenty of time to recover and will be 100 percent for 2011 camp.
Fri Sep 3 201022:02Dumervil confirms his season is over
Elvis Dumervil (torn pectoral) confirmed on Twitter Friday night that his season is over.
"To all my fans, thanks for all the support and kind words," he wrote. "But this season is over for me due to my injury that occurred during training camp. The Broncos have a great recovery plan for me to be back 100%" Dumervil will collect roughly $4 million this season to sit on injured reserve.

Fri Sep 3 201021:13Report: Broncos to end OLB Dumervil's season
NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Broncos will place Elvis Dumervil (torn pectoral) on injured reserve Saturday.
He's out for the year, an admission the Broncos couldn't bring themselves to make until now. Denver's defense is in store for a major drop-off, and it's not just because of Dumervil. DC Mike Nolan is gone, Dumervil's replacements are borderline NFL-roster worthy, and the secondary is all a year older with little pass rush to make it look good. Keep this in mind for matchup purposes.

Fri Aug 27 201010:10McDaniels will give Dumervil time
Coach Josh McDaniels confirmed that he's going to give Elvis Dumervil (pectoral tear) "as much time as we possibly can."
Most players miss the entire season with Dumervil's injury, but the Broncos are holding out hope that he can return sometime in December. It's a long time to tie up a roster spot, but Dumervil is worth it. "We're going to see the next few weeks here how this goes and then try to make the best decision we can for him and for the team," McDaniels said.

Fri Aug 13 201010:06Report: Dumervil expected back this season
Barring a setback in his rehab, beat writer Mike Klis is hearing that Elvis Dumervil (pectoral tear) will play this season.
Klis paints a very rosy picture on the Dumervil situation, saying that "nearly everything" he's been hearing points toward the star sack artist returning. Still, we remain very skeptical that Dumervil will make it back before the end of December and the Broncos will be hard-pressed to keep a roster spot tied up for that long. The early end of Dumervil's original prognosis was four months.

Tue Aug 10 201021:41Dumervil taken off Broncos depth chart
The Broncos have deemed OLB Elvis Dumervil's pectoral tear serious enough to remove him from their "unofficial" depth chart.
For perspective, LT Ryan Clady (torn patellar tendon) is still listed as a starter. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Tuesday that the team is "doing research" on Dumervil's injury, in an effort to see if there's any way he could return this year. The odds are heavily in favor of him landing on injured reserve.

Sun Aug 8 201019:16Dumervil to undergo surgery on Tuesday
Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair his torn pectoral muscle.
Multiple doctors confirmed Dumervil would need surgery, which figures to end his season. Both Dumervil's pectoral muscle and pectoral tendon were injured during a 1-on-1 practice drill last week. The club will decide whether Dumervil should be placed immediately on I.R. after he goes under the knife.

Thu Aug 5 201020:43Broncs look internally for Elvis' replacement
The Broncos will first look internally for Elvis Dumervil's replacement.
Jarvis Moss and Robert Ayers figure to get the first cracks, considering both are former first-rounders. Mario Haggan will also get a look according to Josh McDaniels. Chances are the Broncos aren't going to compete this year, so it makes sense to see what they have in Moss and Ayers. Should they choose to look elsewhere, FAs such as Aaron Schobel, Leonard Little, and Adalius Thomas all figure to be in play.

Thu Aug 5 201016:33Elvis Dumervil out until January?
A source tells the Associated Press that OLB Elvis Dumervil's torn pectoral could sideline him for as many as five months.
Per the five-month estimate, Dumervil would be out until early January. He's looking more and more likely to end up on injured reserve, while the Broncos are looking less and less likely to pose any kind of threat in the AFC West.

Thu Aug 5 201015:35Elvis Dumervil to seek second opinion
Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil will seek a second opinion shortly on his torn pectoral muscle.
Dumervil's initial recovery period has been set at four months, which would knock him out until "late this season" at the soonest. He's a candidate for I.R., but is hopeful the second opinion is more positive. We wouldn't bet on it.

Thu Aug 5 201011:52Elvis Dumervil suffers torn pectoral muscle
Elvis Dumervil has suffered a torn pectoral muscle and he is out indefinitely.
It's a devastating blow for the Broncos as Dumervil will miss at least four months and there's a good chance that last year's sacks leader is out for the season. As the focal point of Denver's 3-4 defense, Dumervil was rewarded with a five-year extension just two weeks ago that will pay him $43.156 million guaranteed over the next six years. Jarvis Moss is an in-house candidate to step up at outside linebacker, but he has been wildly disappointing since being a first-round pick in 2007.
