Sun Oct 6 201323:30Vernon Davis finds the end zone in Week 5
Vernon Davis caught three passes for 88 yards and one touchdown in Sunday night's Week 5 win over the Texans.
Colin Kaepernick completed just six passes on the night, but the big one went to Davis. Davis saw six targets but turned his last one into a 64-yard touchdown in busted coverage. Davis didn't appear to be hampered by his balky hamstring one bit. He has a very nice matchup against the Cardinals next week.

Thu Oct 3 201319:42Vernon Davis still limited on Thursday
Vernon Davis (hamstring) remained limited in Thursday's practice.
By all accounts, Davis escaped last Thursday's win without setbacks, so the 49ers are just being cautious. Despite his injury and slow start, Davis is locked in as a TE1 for Week 5.

Fri Sep 27 201301:20Vernon Davis manages touchdown on TNF
Vernon Davis was held to two catches for 18 yards and one touchdown in Thursday night's Week 4 win over St. Louis.
Davis didn't make his first catch until late in the second quarter and clearly wasn't 100 percent. He was targeted four times by Colin Kaepernick and his touchdown came on a 12-yard pass against blown coverage in the red-zone. Davis will have 10 days to rest up for next week's matchup with the Texans.

Thu Sep 26 201319:02Vernon Davis officially active for Thursday
Vernon Davis (hamstring) is active for Week 4 against the Rams.
As Colin Kaepernick's top weapon, Davis can safely be started as your TE1 despite a week of limited practices. Davis has hinted he's close to 100 percent, so he should be ready to rock barring an in-game setback. Davis' return is a major boost for his under-fire quarterback.

Thu Sep 26 201318:32Report: Vernon Davis is 'going to go' for TNF
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Vernon Davis is "going to go" Thursday night.
Asked point blank if he was playing, Davis responded "oh yeah." Davis' status will be officially announced around 7ET, but owners can safely start him as their TE1. His return is extremely good news for Colin Kaepernick, who had no one to throw in Davis' absence in Week 3. The Rams have been soft over the middle of the field thus far this season, and present a nice matchup for Davis.

Tue Sep 24 201319:03Vernon Davis practicing again on Tuesday
Vernon Davis (hamstring) participated in Tuesday's practice.
Davis' participation level remains unclear, but it's the second straight day he's practiced. He was "limited" on Monday. Davis didn't practice at all last week before ultimately getting a "questionable" tag and sitting out against the Colts. The Niners desperately need Davis to suit up after presenting almost no offensive threat vs. Indy.

Mon Sep 23 201321:48Vernon Davis (hamstring) limited on Monday
Vernon Davis (hamstring) was limited in 49ers practice Monday.
The 49ers play on Thursday night in St. Louis. ESPN's Bill Williamson suggested the 49ers deactivated Davis in Week 3 against the Colts because they wanted him to be ready for the Rams on a short week. He looks likely to play.

Mon Sep 23 201310:10Niners were looking at Thursday with Davis?
ESPN's Bill Williamson suggests the 49ers' Week 4 Thursday night game played a role in Vernon Davis' (hamstring) absence against the Colts.
The Niners haven't revealed any details about the severity of Davis' pull, so this is all mere speculation. But he was considered a true game-time call in Week 3, suggesting he was at least reasonably close to suiting up. Perhaps the Niners had their eye on a divisional matchup with the Rams on Thursday night. For now, consider Davis a game-time call once again.

Sun Sep 22 201315:00Vernon Davis (hamstring) inactive for Week 3
Vernon Davis (hamstring) is inactive for Week 3 against the Colts.
Davis was barely spotted in pre-game warmups, suggesting he wasn't actually a game-time decision, and never had a legit shot to play. Davis has been deleted from this week's tight end ranks. Rookie Vance McDonald will get the start at tight end. Going on what little information we have, Davis should be considered week to week. Also inactive for the 49ers are QB B.J. Daniels, WR Chris Harper, RB LaMichael James, LB Nate Stupar, OG Joe Looney and WR Jon Baldwin.

Sun Sep 22 201311:25Vernon Davis a true game-time call vs. Colts
Vernon Davis (hamstring) remains a true game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Colts.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Davis "wants to play" but it "will not be easy." Davis did not practice at all this week and it's hard to see him having full burst even if he does suit up. Owners wishing to wait this out better have a late-game option like Coby Fleener or Charles Clay available to them. We won't know Davis' official status until roughly 3pm ET Sunday.

Fri Sep 20 201322:32Vernon Davis on Week 3 status: 'We shall see'
Vernon Davis (questionable, hamstring) replied "we shall see" when quizzed on his Week 3 availability.
Davis was the only 49ers player who didn't practice on Friday. He did run on a side field. "I'm feeling pretty good, sore, bruised up, but that comes with the business, comes with the game," Davis said. "Definitely my focus is on this game. ... We shall see when Sunday comes." Davis appears to be a full-blown game-time decision for Sunday's 4:25PM matchup with the Colts.

Fri Sep 20 201318:3049ers TEs Davis, McDonald game-time decisions
Coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday 49ers TEs Vernon Davis (hamstring) and Vance McDonald (ankle) will both be game-time decisions for Week 3.
The 49ers play the Colts in a 4:25PM ET game. Per Harbaugh, neither player's status will be determined until 90 minutes before kickoff, at which point teams must issue inactives lists. Davis didn't participate in any practices this week. On Friday, Davis worked with an athletic trainer on a side field.

Fri Sep 20 201318:05Vernon Davis listed as questionable for Wk 3
Vernon Davis (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 3 against the Colts.
Davis still hasn't received medical clearance, and beat writer Matt Barrows believes he's the "least likely" of San Francisco's four questionable players to be active versus Indy. Backup TE Vance McDonald (ankle) is one of those four. The 49ers and Colts don't play until 4:25PM ET Sunday, making this a hairy fantasy situation that may be best left avoided despite the juicy matchup.

Wed Sep 18 201317:31Vernon Davis not practicing Wednesday
Vernon Davis (hamstring) did not participate in 49ers practice Wednesday.
Davis strained his hamstring late in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's blowout loss to the Seahawks. "No need to worry y'all," Davis tweeted Tuesday night. "My leg is feeling great just need a little rest til kickoff according to the docs." We wouldn't expected him to practice much ahead of Sunday's tilt with the Colts at home. Keep an eye on him throughout the week and weekend.
