Davis caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards in Thursday's 19-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Davis doesn't appear to be bothered by the injuries he dealt with earlier this season, making it rather odd that he's such a minimal part of the passing game. He hasn't scored or reached 40 receiving yards since Week 1, and he hasn't drawn more than six targets in any game this season. While perhaps worth holding on to, Davis is only a viable starter in the very deepest of leagues, if that.

Davis gained 21 yards on three catches (five targets) in Sunday's win over the Redskins.
While this was an improvement over his one-catch performance last week, it was still sub-par for the once elite tight end. Davis also had an ugly drop on a catchable ball that would have netted a large gain. He may still be bothered by the various injuries he sustained this season, and he would have to show signs of improvement before he can be trusted in standard leagues.

Davis only caught one of the five balls thrown his way Sunday, gaining seven yards and adding four yards on his first carry of the season.
Davis still doesn't seem like himself on the field, being unable to create space like he did prior to missing time with injuries. The thought that Davis may not be giving a full effort this season was thrown around last week, but the more logical conclusion to come to is that he is still dealing with some combination of the ankle, knee, or back injuries that have plagued him this year. When healthy, he is one of the most talented tight ends in football, but until he shows something on the field, it is hard to recommend Davis in any format right now.

Davis has one catch on four targets for eight yards Sunday against the Saints.
Davis' dreadful year continues, as he has now failed to reach even 45 yards in a game this season, with no touchdowns since his four-catch, 44-yard, two-touchdown effort in Week 1. He has dealt with knee, ankle and back injuries, though some are now questioning whether he is giving a full effort. While the Week 11 matchup against the Giants is a good one on paper, Davis just hasn't shown anything this season to warrant much fantasy consideration.

Davis had just two catches on three targets for 19 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
Davis was once again a non-factor, as Colin Kaepernick spread things around, completing at least one pass to 10 different players. Davis scored a pair of touchdowns in a Week 1 win at Dallas, but has done almost nothing since, while dealing with nagging injuries. He'll look to score for the first time in over two months next week at New Orleans.

Davis (back) caught 2-of-5 targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 42-17 loss to the Broncos.
Davis once again couldn't get anything going, even though the 49ers were forced into a pass-heavy approach. Colin Kaepernick mostly honed in on his deep group of wide receivers, as Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson and Brandon Lloyd combined for 30 targets. Davis may still be a bit hobbled by the back and ankle injuries he's dealt with this season, as he has just 10 receptions for 98 yards and no touchdowns over the last four games, after posting a 4-44-2 receiving line in the season opener. He's averaging just 4.6 targets per game in an offense that throws nearly half of its passes to either Crabtree or Boldin. While Davis should eventually get more involved, volume has often been an issue with him.
Sun Oct 19 201419:06Davis (back) listed as active for Sunday's game against Broncos
Davis (back) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Davis was able to practice fully all week, a sign that he should healthy enough to see a full complement of snaps Sunday, barring any in-game setbacks.
Fri Oct 17 201419:11Davis (back) probable for Sunday's game against Denver
Davis (back) is probable for Sunday's game against Denver.
Davis practiced fully all week, so he's turned a corner in his recovery. The 49ers will probably need to throw more aggressively than they're accustomed to if they're to keep pace with Peyton Manning, so this week seems to be one of Davis' more favorable matchups on paper so long as the 49ers don't need him to help pass block against Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.
Thu Oct 16 201419:48Davis (back) practiced in full Thursday
Davis (back) practiced in full Thursday, the 49ers' official site reports.
Davis is as healthy as he has been since the start of the season and seems to be headed for a "probable" designation when the official injury designations are released Friday.
Wed Oct 15 201420:30Davis (back) practiced in full Wednesday
Davis (back) practiced in full Wednesday, the Sacramento Bee reports.
Davis was unhindered in practice for the first time since sustaining a bruised left ankle in Week 2. Along the way, back spasms started to afflict him, and he appeared in just two of four games during that stretch. As long as a setback is avoided, he should be active for a second consecutive outing Sunday in Denver, who have surrendered 10.5 YPC and two touchdowns to opposing tight ends through five contests.

Davis (back) caught 3-of-6 targets for 30 yards in Monday's 31-17 win over the Rams.
Davis made it through the game healthy, but he also missed some excellent opportunities. He dropped a pair of easy catches, including one in the flats that would have left him with just one defender to beat for a long gain. He also collided with Vance McDonald in the end zone on a play that saw both tight ends converge on the ball without any defender to break up the pass. After turning in just his second full game of the season, Davis will likely be ready for a tough road matchup with the Broncos next week.
Mon Oct 13 201419:05Davis (back) active and will start Monday's game against Rams
Davis (back) is active and will start Monday's game against the Rams.
After missing Week 5's contest against the Chiefs, Davis is back in action, though it remains to be seen how close to 100 percent he'll be in his return and how well he'll hold up in the process. To date, Davis, who turned a two-TD effort in Week 1, has only finished one of the three games in which he's played in thus far this season.
Sat Oct 11 201416:27Vernon Davis: (Back) Officially Questionable
Davis (back) is officially questionable for Monday's game against the Rams.
Davis appears on track to return against St. Louis, despite being limited throughout the week by the back ailment. However, he was still sporting a non-contact jersey in Saturday's practice, and Davis left some wiggle room when asked about his status, telling Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times that he will decide Sunday if he can play. "I don't feel like I'm where I need to be at the moment but I'm getting there," Davis said.
Sat Oct 11 201414:52Davis (back) practiced in non-contact jersey again Saturday
Davis (back) practiced in a non-contact jersey again Saturday, Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports.
Although Davis was restricted from contact throughout the week, the report notes that he is likely to start Monday against the Rams, a sentiment echoed by CSN Bay Area. However, it's possible he could be on a snap count, and the Rams haven't given up more than 49 yards to a tight end all season.
Fri Oct 10 201422:17Davis (back) "on pace" to play in Monday's game against St
Davis (back) is "on pace" to play in Monday's game against St. Louis after logging a limited practice for the second straight day Friday, CSN Bay Area reports.
Getting Davis back would be a nice reassurance for the fantasy value of Colin Kaepernick, and it might even help loosen up the coverage Michael Crabtree has seen lately. We'll want to see one more practice Saturday before advising Davis' owners to take the Monday plunge with him, but the signs through this point are definitely encouraging.
Thu Oct 9 201420:01Vernon Davis: (Back) Limited Thursday
Davis (back) logged a limited showing in Thursday's practice, Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports.
Davis' appearance in a no-contact jersey equated to a capped practice, as expected, but as the week unfolds, owners will have a better understanding of his Week 6 availability at St. Louis.
Thu Oct 9 201418:54Vernon Davis: (Back) Returns To Practice Thursday
Davis (back) returned to practice in a no-contact jersey Thursday, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports.
While the appearance likely implies a limited showing in drills, the development is nonetheless encouraging for Davis earning active status Monday in St. Louis. No matter, the week must proceed, with Saturday's injury report ultimately revealing his potential to take the field.
Sun Oct 5 201415:00Vernon Davis: (Back) Will Not Play
Davis (back) is inactive for Sunday's game against against the Chiefs.
Despite being listed as questionable, there was only a small chance Davis would play in this game, so this deactivation was expected. Vance McDonald, who is active despite a knee injury, and Derek Carrier will assume the tight end duties in Davis' absence.
Fri Oct 3 201418:41Vernon Davis: (Back) No Practice Friday
Davis (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against Kansas City but did not practice this week.
With no practices all week, Davis seems unlikely to play for the 49ers. Indeed, he said Friday that there's a "small chance" he plays, ESPN.com reports. With Vance McDonald (knee) also questionable, the 49ers might need to turn to Derek Carrier once again. McDonald logged limited practices all week, though, so he likely has a better chance to play than Davis.
Thu Oct 2 201418:50Davis (back) didn't participate in practice Thursday
Davis (back) didn't participate in practice Thursday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
With back-to-back absences to his name, Davis is likely still enduring lingering back spasms, as he relayed to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area on Wednesday. An appearance in drills this week would ease the hearts and minds of owners, but there's no guarantee that will come to pass. With fellow tight end Vance McDonald (knee) also ailing, the 49ers' TE situation remains unsettled entering the final practice of the week Friday.
