Thu May 29 201413:32Vernon Davis skipping OTAs, wants new deal
CSN Bay Area reports Vernon Davis is skipping 49ers OTAs due to "dissatisfaction with his contract."
Davis, who is signed through 2015, is putting his money where his mouth is, as he's forfeiting a $200,000 workout bonus. Now 30, the pseudo-holdout will likely be in vain for Davis, who is owned a combined $9.05 million over the next two seasons. The 49ers have far more important contract issues to worry about with Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith, Michael Crabtree and coach Jim Harbaugh. It's unclear if Davis is planning to blow off next month's mandatory minicamp.

Vernon Davis is not attending 49ers OTAs.
Coach Jim Harbaugh provided no answers Wednesday when quizzed on why Davis wasn't there: "As you know, the workouts are voluntary. That would be the reason." Davis is owed $5.3 million in salary and bonuses entering year five of his six-year contract. He's forfeiting a $200,000 workout bonus by not reporting.

Sun Jan 12 201416:17Vernon Davis catches touchdown in Wk 19
Vernon Davis' lone Divisional Round catch went for a one-yard touchdown as the 49ers topped the Panthers in Week 19.
Davis' first target came on a deep-seam route in the back of the end zone, but he was well covered and Colin Kaepernick's pass was too high. Davis had another end-zone target toward the end of the second half, but Kaepernick missed low. Though he was initially ruled out of bounds, Davis finally converted his third-end zone target of the first half to give San Francisco a 13-10 halftime lead when officials checked the replay. That, of course, would go down as Davis' lone reception. Davis and Michael Crabtree will have to do more next week for the 49ers to upset the Seahawks.

Sun Jan 5 201420:17Vernon Davis goes for 37 yards, touchdown
Vernon Davis caught two balls for 37 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' Wild Card win at Lambeau.
The Packers kept Davis quiet early with double teams and brackets, forcing Colin Kaepernick to go elsewhere with the ball. Just a few plays after having a deep-seam pass broken up by CB Davon House, Davis caught a 28-yard touchdown on a similar route to give the Niners a 20-17 fourth-quarter lead. Davis now has six TD catches in six career playoff games. San Francisco heads to Carolina for the Divisional Round.

Tue Dec 24 201300:51Vernon Davis held without a catch in MNF win
Vernon Davis was held without a catch in Monday night's Week 16 win over the Falcons.
Davis was targeted three times on the night. His goose egg likely decided plenty of fantasy title games. Davis got something in his eye early on in the game and was noticeably not himself after. He dropped a low throw from Colin Kaepernick in the third quarter, and then didn't get his hands up in time for a pass that likely would have resulted in a lengthy touchdown. For those leagues that play into Week 17, Davis gets the leaky Cardinals in the finale.

Sun Nov 17 201320:18Vernon Davis goes 4/33/1 in loss to Saints
Vernon Davis caught four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown in San Francisco's Week 11 loss to the Saints.
Davis was targeted only five times, but made the most of his limited looks by nabbing his eighth touchdown of the season. Posing as a blocker on a Colin Kaepernick rollout, Davis hauled in a perfectly-lofted ball for a 17-yard score in the third quarter. Davis' season has been marred by injury and Kaepernick's inconsistency, but he's still a weekly top-five option at tight end.

Sun Nov 17 201311:54Vernon Davis passes tests, expected to play
Vernon Davis (concussion) is fully expected to play in Sunday's game at New Orleans.
Davis has passed his impact test. Barring a surprise occurrence of symptoms in warmups, he'll start and won't be limited at all. Davis also a nice matchup with Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro (concussion) out and slow-footed Roman Harper in. Vernon is a fine TE1 in a potential shootout.

Sat Nov 16 201317:51Vernon Davis expected to play against Saints
The Sacramento Bee considers Vernon Davis (concussion, questionable) "on track to play" Sunday at New Orleans.
The 49ers promoted TE Derek Carrier from their practice squad on Saturday, but it's believed that was more a reflection of Garrett Celek's (hamstring) status. Celek isn't going to play. Keep checking back for updates, but Davis underwent his final concussion protocol test on Friday, and is tentatively scheduled to start against the Saints. Beat writer Matt Barrows wrote again on his blog Saturday that Davis is "expected to play."

Fri Nov 15 201314:26Vernon Davis practices in no-contact jersey
Vernon Davis (head) practiced in a no-contact jersey on Friday.
Davis would be practicing in a normal jersey if he'd passed all of his concussion tests. He may before Sunday's game against the Saints, but fantasy owners need to be prepared on the off chance he doesn't. Vance McDonald is his backup at tight end. If Davis can't play at New Orleans, Colin Kaepernick's fantasy outlook would take a major blow. He's painfully short on weapons.

Vernon Davis referred to the concussion he sustained in Sunday's loss to the Panthers as "mild."

Davis caught a two-yard touchdown and got wide open against a pathetic Jaguars defense for his long gain of 31. Despite early-season hamstring woes, Davis is on pace to catch 14 touchdown passes and rack up 1,036 receiving yards. Expect the yardage number to come up over the season's final eight games. The Niners now have a Week 9 bye. They'll face the Panthers in Week 10.
