Wed Aug 1 2012 | 19:34 | Cardinals want to extend Stephens-Howling |
In addition to LB Daryl Washington, the Cardinals plan to approach RB/KR LaRod Stephens-Howling about a long-term extension. |
Stephens-Howling is working on a one-year contract after Arizona tendered him at the second-round level in restricted free agency. LSH has been one of the game's most explosive kickoff returners over the past three years, and his 11.0 average on 39 career receptions is evidence of playmaking ability out of the backfield. |

Mon Apr 16 2012 | 12:27 | Stephens-Howling signs RFA tender |
Cardinals re-signed restricted free agent RB/KR La'Rod Stephens-Howling to a one-year, $1.927 million contract. |
Stephens-Howling was all but assured of remaining in Arizona after being tendered at the second-round level. Provided 2011 second-round pick Ryan Williams (patellar tendon surgery) is ready to roll, Stephens-Howling will be in for another season of limited offensive snaps. |

Stephens-Howling received the second-round tender, which would net him $1.927 million if the current projections hold. Johnson, a former third-round pick, and Toler, a former fourth-rounder, were both assigned "original pick" tenders worth $1.26 million. Expect all three players to return to Arizona. |

Sat Feb 11 2012 | 18:05 | Cardinals to re-sign Stephens-Howlings? |
Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website expects restricted free agents LaRod Stephens-Howling and Greg Toler to receive second-round tenders this offseason. |
Urban is speculating here and not reporting. Under the new CBA, the Cardinals would have to commit $1.9 million in order to secure the right to match any offer given to Stephens-Howling (originally a seventh-rounder) and Toler (a fourth-rounder). Neither player is expected to have a major role in 2012. |

Sun Dec 4 2011 | 19:47 | LaRod Stephens-Howling wins game for ARZ |
LaRod Stephens-Howling took an overtime screen pass 52 yards to the end zone to beat the Cowboys Sunday. |
Stephens-Howling had just two touches in regulation, but won the game for Arizona. After catching the lob from Kevin Kolb, he weaved his way through the Cowboys' defense like the return man he is. LSH will remain a mere specialist for the Cards going forward. His season-high in touches from scrimmage is five. |

Stephens-Howling saw increased playing time with Beanie Wells nursing a knee sprain, but didn't get any carries. Alfonso Smith is the Cardinals' No. 2 running back. Stephens-Howling is a poor man's Darren Sproles, playing strictly on passing downs as well as returning all kickoffs. |

LaRod Stephens-Howling (hand, biceps) turned in a full practice Thursday. |
Stephens-Howling will be active against the Giants this weekend. Depending on the health of Beanie Wells, LSH could be worth at least considering at the flex spot in deeper PPR leagues. Your expectations for his performance should be low, however. |

Wed Sep 28 2011 | 08:25 | Stephens-Howling expected back this week |
LaRod Stephens-Howling (hand, biceps) is tentatively expected to return for Sunday's game against the Giants. |
With Chester Taylor predictably inept, Stephens-Howling could conceivably return to the backup role. We know that "Hyphen" is likely to used as the third-down back. However, Beanie Wells owners shouldn't see Stephens-Howling as a real handcuff. He's 5'7/185 and would not be asked to carry a real load if Beanie's hamstring acts up again. |

LaRod Stephens-Howling (hand, biceps) did not participate in Cardinals practice on Wednesday. |
Stephens-Howling suffered both injuries in Sunday's win over the Panthers. Chester Taylor should be ready to back up Beanie Wells this weekend, so the Cardinals have no reason to hurry back their under-sized third-down back. |

Cardinals RB/KR LaRod Stephens-Howling (hamstring) could have to sit out in Week 16. |
Stephens-Howling aggravated a hamstring injury Sunday that previously cost him a couple games. The injury wasn't suspected of being a being deal initially, but it's worse than originally thought. Steve Breaston or Andre Roberts would handle returns if "Hyphen" can't go. |
