Dixon's teammate, Fred Jackson, is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Though it remains to be seen how much of a workload the Bills will hand Jackson in his return to action, his presence in the Buffalo backfield on Sunday makes both Dixon and Bryce Brown hit-or-miss Week 10 fantasy lineup options.
Fri Nov 7 201414:15Dixon's teammate
Dixon's teammate, Fred Jackson, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, ESPN.com reports.
Though we suppose that things could look up for Jackson as Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff approaches, coach Doug Marrone acknowledged Friday on that front that "we're still not where we need to be for him to go out there." In a scenario where Jackson is inactive Sunday, we'd expect Dixon to have a chance to head the Bills' Week 10 rushing attack, with Bryce Brown also in the mix for carries.

Dixon was on the field for 41-of-55 snaps on offense in Week 8's win over the Jets, wgr550.com reports.
Meanwhile, in the absence of both Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, fellow RB Bryce Brown was on the field for 14 snaps this past Sunday. Neither back churned out many yards per carry in the contest -- Dixon had 22 carries for 44 yards, while Brown ran seven times for 15 yards -- but for now, Dixon seems a decent bet to start again once the Bills return to action from their Week 9 bye. That assumes Fred Jackson's continued absence, though in such a scenario it's not difficult to imagine Brown close the gap some in terms of his snap count (in relation to Dixon's) in Week 10's contest against the Chiefs on Nov. 9.

Dixon had 22 carries for 44 yards Sunday against the Jets.
Dixon got the start with C.J. Spiller (collarbone) and Fred Jackson (groin) both out with injuries, and while he got a vast majority of the carries (backup Bryce Brown had only seven carries for 15 yards), there wasn't much production. The Bills absolutely dominated the Jets, which allowed them to throw the ball only 17 times versus 32 rushing attempts, and while Dixon saw most of the work, he had to watch fullback Frank Summers bang home a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Spiller could be out for the rest of the season and Jackson is expected to miss three more weeks, which means Dixon should be the starter in Week 10 against the Chiefs following the team's Week 9 bye.
Sun Oct 26 201411:35Anthony Dixon: Starting Sunday
Dixon will be the starting running back Sunday against the Jets.
Dixon gets the call after C.J. Spiller (collarbone) and Fred Jackson (groin) suffered injuries last Sunday against the Vikings that will keep them each out for a number of weeks. Dixon will get the first crack at carries, but it wouldn't be surprising if the team employed a bit of a time-share, similar to what they've been doing with Spiller and Jackson.

During the media access portion of practice Wednesday, which ESPN's Mike Rodak noted is "essentially just warm-up drills," Dixon lined up with the Bills' first-team, along with starting QB Kyle Orton.
Meanwhile, fellow RB Bryce Brown, who has yet to see a regular season snap to date, lined up with EJ Manuel and the Bills' second-team. In any case, with both Fred Jackson (groin) and C.J. Spiller (collarbone) out, both Dixon and Brown are in line for an expanded workload, beginning Sunday against the Jets. For his part, WGR's Joe Buscaglia indicated that he wouldn't be surprised if Dixon, who carried 13 times for 51 yards when pressed into added action in Week 7, leads the replacement committee initially, but we expect that Brown will see his share of Week 8 opportunities as well, with both players having quickly transitioned from fantasy afterthoughts into potentially valuable in-season pickups, as a result of Jackson and Spiller's injuries.

Dixon lined up with the first-team offense next to Kyle Orton during Wednesday's practice, while Bryce Brown was used mostly with the second team, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
Running backs are gold this time of season once injuries strike - and the last few weeks have certainly a bloodbath for the position - so people all over are trying to play hunches on the Buffalo situation following injuries to Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller in the same half. The truth is we won't know for sure until the Bills line up to play the Jets this week, and even that could change as soon as game flow kicks in. So we'll give you the knowns in as simple a fashion as possible: Dixon is the likely starter and the surer thing. He beat out Brown for the No. 3 spot for a reason and the team brass seems to love his attitude and all-around game. He's going to get his chance, and one of his skill sets lies around the the goal line. So there's some safety in picking Dixon if you're hurting at running back. Brown, on the other hand, is the upside play. We've seen what he can do while LeSean McCoy was hurt, and simply put he's a better athlete than Dixon. There's a chance Dixon has trouble behind an offensive line that's struggling and the quicker-bursting Brown takes the job and runs with it for four weeks. To sum it up, we like Dixon by a slight margin as a short-term play and he could end up being a nice plugger/chugger for your lineup for a month, but if you're filling bench spots and looking for a lottery ticket, Brown probably has more upside.
Mon Oct 20 201413:30Dixon in line for expanded role with Bills in coming weeks
Dixon is in line for an expanded role with the Bills in the coming weeks, with both Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller out indefinitely, the team's official site reports.
Following Jackson and Spiller's injuries Sunday, Dixon was pressed into the Bills' lead role, but moving forward, he figures to work in combo with Bryce Brown. While Brown has yet to suit up in a regular season contest for the Bills to date, it wouldn't surprise us to see him move into a big role in Week 8's game against the Jets, given the the flashes of potential he displayed when handed increased duties during his (2012-13) stint with the Eagles. While Dixon is no doubt in line to factor in as well, notably in short-yardage situations, and thus merits a speculative add to see how the situation plays out, Brown would appear to offer more fantasy upside to those looking to replace Jackson and/or Spiller.

Dixon had 13 carries for 51 rushing yards and three catches on four targets for 15 receiving yards Sunday against the Vikings.
Dixon's fantasy value exploded during the game, as Fred Jackson was forced out with a groin injury and C.J. Spiller suffered a broken collarbone. Jackson is slated to have an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury, though it's expected to be serious, and Spiller will have surgery Monday that will keep him out indefinitely. Dixon is likely to get plenty of carries now, though he could lose some to Bryce Brown, who was inactive Sunday.

Dixon, who didn't log a carry for three straight games before Sunday, ran the ball seven times for 23 yards in the Week 6 loss to the Patriots.
The Bills haven't been able to get much of a running game going lately, so they tried something different and used Dixon for more runs than a disappointing C.J. Spiller. Dixon is still third in the pecking order, but the Bills seem to be phasing Spiller more and more out of the game plan, so the situation at least merits watching.
Mon Oct 6 201403:49Dixon, playing as third running back behind Fred Jackson and C.J
Dixon, playing as the third running back behind Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, did not register a carry for the third straight game Sunday against the Lions.
Coach Doug Marrone said before the season he preferred to use a two-back rotation, and so far he's stuck to his word, as Dixon has just seven rushing attempts all season. Jackson did leave Sunday's game with what looked like a painful leg injury, so there's a chance Dixon could have a bigger role next week against the Patriots.

Dixon had five carries for 60 yards in Sunday's overtime win at Chicago.
Dixon ripped off a 47-yard run late in the second quarter, and had one carry inside the red zone. Bryce Brown was a healthy scratch Sunday, so it appears as though Buffalo is comfortable using Dixon behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. The veteran runner is a bruiser, so it's possible he sees some goal line work certain weeks.

Dixon (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bears, the Bills' official site reports.
C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson are ahead of him on the Bills' depth chart, which caps his fantasy utility, but it's still possible that Dixon could see some short-yardage work for the team.
Fri Sep 5 201418:35Dixon (hamstring) questionable for Sunday's game against Bears
Dixon (hamstring), who didn't practice Friday, is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, the Post-Standard reports.
Having missed practice both Thursday and Friday, Dixon looks to be truly questionable for Sunday's game. If he does suit up, he could perhaps vulture a touchdown, but any other production would come as a surprise.

Dixon (hamstring) did not participate in Friday's practice.
Dixon was added to the injury report Thursday with a hamstring ailment, and it appears the injury is significant enough to hold him out for an additional day. Both C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson are ahead of him on the Bills' depth chart anyway, so even if Dixon does turn things around and suit up Sunday, he likely won't see a heavy workload.

Dixon was added to the Bills' injury report Thursday with a hamstring injury, Chris Brown of Buffalobills.com reports.
The report relays that coach Doug Marrone calls Dixon's injury "a concern," which suggests that the running back's Week 1 availability could be in peril. He's listed behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson on the Bills' posted running back depth chart, ahead of Bryce Brown.

Dixon scored the Bills' only touchdown in Saturday's preseason loss at Pittsburgh on a one-yard plunge. He carried 10 times for 26 yards and caught one pass for five yards.
It's starting to look like Boobie might be the team's main goal line back at close range. While that would only give him modest value in touchdown-heavy leagues and he'd only have regular production if Fred Jackson or C.J. Spiller were to get hurt, this could work to curtail the overall value of guys like Jackson or Spiller, who for all his talents only has 12 rushing touchdowns in four NFL seasons. Buffalo's red-zone offense is certainly worth tracking once the real games get going.

Dixon rushed nine times for 28 yards with a score in Friday's preseason win at Carolina. He also caught one pass for six yards.
Dixon is having a great camp, though the star of the backfield Friday was Bryce Brown, who's competing with Dixon for the top backup role behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Unfortunately, Bills coach Doug Marrone says he'll typically use just two backs in regular season action. One way it could shake out, with everyone healthy, is that Brown serves as the insurance to the top two, but Dixon ends up being the goal-line back, something he has a knack for given his aggressive style and strong, 233-pound build.
Sat Mar 15 201400:24Bills sign RB Anthony Dixon
Bills agreed to terms with RB Anthony Dixon, formerly of the 49ers.
It's not an ideal landing spot. He's not going to play much on offense but will be a valuable contributor chasing down kickoffs and punts. Dixon, 26, is a battering ram at 6-foot-1 and 233 pounds. He'll operate as the No. 3 back behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, who have combined to miss 13 games the past three years.

Fri Mar 14 201421:35Dixon tweets he has joined the BIlls
Free agent Anthony Dixon tweets he will officially join the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
If true, Dixon would slot in as the No. 3 tailback in Buffalo behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. It is a good signing for the Bills, but seriously damages Dixon's fantasy value. We've always been interested to see what Dixon would do with more playing time, but, barring injury or Jackson's release, Dixon will once again be relegated to a backup role.
