Sat Feb 22 201411:00Kaepernick, 49ers begin contract negotiations
The 49ers and Colin Kaepernick's representation met for dinner at the NFL combine.
Due just $973,766 in 2014, Kaep is wildly underpaid going into the final year of his rookie contract. With Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, and Robert Griffen III all set to be extended next season, an early extension would allow the 49ers to set the young quarterback market instead of being constrained by it. Along with Anquan Boldin, Kapernick is the 49ers' top priority this offseason.

Thu Feb 13 201418:24Report: Kaep extension priority for 49ers
Profootballtalk reports extending Colin Kaepernick's contract is among the 49ers' offseason priorities.
It's not a surprise. Due just $973,766 in 2014, Kaep is wildly underpaid going into the final year of his rookie contract, but the 49ers would do well to get out in front of the situation. Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III will all be eligible for extensions in 2015, sending quarterback prices further skyward. Coming off an uneven season, Kaep's value also isn't quite as sky high as it was after last year's Super Bowl. Kaepernick isn't going to be cheap, but he's not going to get any cheaper.

Thu Jan 30 201415:53Kaep: I purposely run more in the playoffs
Colin Kaepernick admits he consciously decides to run more in the postseason.
Kaep has averaged 5.8 rushing attempts per game for his regular-season career, compared to 9.9 in the playoffs. "When you get to the postseason, it's one-and-done, if you're not winning," Kaepernick said. "So we're going to do everything we can to try to win those games." Kaepernick was criticized at times during the regular season for not scrambling enough, but racked up 243 yards on 26 postseason carries (9.34 YPC). That was 46.4 percent of his regular-season total. Kaep is at his best when he mixes in more scrambles, but is wise to avoid gratuitous hits in September-December.

Thu Jan 30 201412:26Kaepernick has team in mind regarding money
Colin Kaepernick said he wants there to be a "balance" between his upcoming contract and the 49ers' ability to sign free agents.
It doesn't sound like Kaepernick is going to try to squeeze every dollar out of the 49ers in negotiations. "You want to be paid fairly for what you feel like you're doing in comparison to your peers," he said. "But at the same time, you have to realize, if we want to get Anquan Boldin back, if we want Donte Whitner to come back, we're going to have to make moves to get them back." In addition to those two unrestricted free agents, plenty of other core 49ers are eligible for extensions. Michael Crabtree, Aldon Smith and Mike Iupati will each be seeking monster paydays.

Sun Jan 19 201422:11Kaep commits 3 turnovers as SF gets sent home
Colin Kaepernick completed 14-of-24 passes for 153 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in San Francisco's NFC Championship Game loss to the Seahawks, also losing a fumble.

Sun Jan 12 201416:05Niners outlast Panthers, advance to NFCCG
Colin Kaepernick completed 15-of-28 throws for 196 yards and a touchdown, and rushed eight times for 15 yards and a second score as the 49ers dropped the Panthers 23-10 in the Divisional Round.
He now has a career playoff record of 4-1. Kaepernick was lucky to escape without a pick six on an early second-quarter throw into double coverage, as Panthers SS Quintin Mikell dropped a sure interception deep in Niners territory. Carolina's defensive front was relentless early, pressuring Kaepernick on eight of his first 17 pass drops. Kap's response was to play rattled, letting the pressure negatively affect his accuracy and mechanics. He did execute a four-yard touchdown scramble following a 45-yard bomb to Anquan Boldin in the third quarter, and generally settled in with a two-score second-half lead. Still, the 49ers will need better four-quarter QB play to upset Seattle in the NFC Championship. They're also going to need more from Michael Crabtree (3-26).

Sun Jan 5 201419:48Niners advance with 23-20 victory at Lambeau
Colin Kaepernick completed 16-of-30 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and rushed seven times for 98 yards in the 49ers' 23-20 Wild Card round win over the Packers.
Kaepernick made his lone mistake on a floated, telegraphed second-quarter pick to Tramon Williams intended for Vernon Davis down the right sideline. Williams jumped the route and returned it 18 yards. Kap atoned with a 42-yard rushing explosion on the 49ers' next possession, setting up Frank Gore's ten-yard score. Kaepernick's 98 rushing yards were a season high. Kap's most momentous throw came on a deep-seam touchdown to Vernon Davis from 28 yards away in the fourth quarter, giving San Francisco a 20-17 lead, before leading the game-winning drive a possession later. We wouldn't go as far as to say Kaepernick "outplayed" Aaron Rodgers on Sunday, but you could argue he did. Playing his best football of the season the past seven weeks, Kaepernick leads a piping-hot 49ers team into Carolina in Week 19.

Thu Jan 2 201415:03Kaepernick has had Packers number
In his last two meetings with Green Bay, Colin Kaepernick has completed 44-of-70 throws (62.9 percent) for 675 yards (9.64 YPA) and a 5:1 TD-to-INT ratio with 203 rushing yards and two more touchdown runs.
The Niners and Packers have played twice over the last 12 months. In last January's playoff tilt, Kaepernick shredded Dom Capers' defense with read-option runs. In the 2013 season opener, Kaepernick dropped 412 passing yards and three touchdowns on the Packers, beating them with his arm. Sun Dec 29 201319:46Kaepernick has first 300-yard game since Wk 1
Colin Kaepernick completed 21-of-32 passes for 306 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 23-20 Week 17 win at Arizona.
Kaepernick added four carries for 24 yards as the 49ers clinched the No. 5 seed and a date at Green Bay during Wild Card Weekend. It was his first 300-yard game since Week 1 and he did it by relentlessly targeting Anquan Boldin (9/145/1), who is getting hot late just like he did during the Ravens' Super Bowl run last year. Kaep's first full season as an NFL starter was disappointing by most accounts as he regressed in completion percentage (58.6) while averaging just 199.5 pass yards per day, but he led the Niners to an impressive 12-4 record.

Mon Dec 23 201323:59Kaepernick totals two TDs in MNF victory
Colin Kaepernick completed 13-of-21 passes for 197 yards and one touchdown in San Francisco's Week 16, 34-24 win over the Falcons.
Kaepernick and the San Francisco offense was way out of sync in the first half. Kaepernick was missing high, low, wide, and any which way he could miss his receivers with passes. The second half was a different story. Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin did damage post-catch, and Kaepernick delivered some strikes. Crabtree had 99 yards receiving in the third quarter, while Boldin scored from ten yards out on a screen pass. Kaepernick also used his legs, rushing for 51 yards and a second touchdown on six attempts. He and the 11-4 49ers clinched a playoff spot with the win and will take on the Cardinals next week.

Sun Dec 1 201319:23Keapernick and passing game clicks vs. Rams
Colin Kapernick completed 19-of-28 passes for 275 yards and one touchdown in the 49ers' Week 13, 23-13 win over the Rams.
It's no coincidence that the day Kaepernick had all three of his top three receivers on the field for the first time this season turned out to be one of his better passing efforts on the year. His 275 yards were his most since Week 1. The 49ers really opened it up with Michael Crabtree (Achilles') returning to the lineup, relying on Kaepernick to lead them to victory. His touchdown pass went to Vernon Davis from 17 yards away in the fourth quarter. After 12 games, Kaepernick is on pace to complete 57.7 percent of his passes for 3,082 yards, 20 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. We like him to eclipse that yardage total with a healthy receiving corps down the stretch. Kaepernick has serious QB1 upside for the fantasy playoffs. He gets the Seahawks at home next.

Fri Nov 22 201316:4649ers promise offensive explosion
49ers OC Greg Roman insists San Francisco's offense is on the verge of a breakout game.
The Redskins' sieve-ish defense on Monday Night Football would be a reasonable place to start. "We're certainly not a finished product," Roman said after Friday's practice. "I think those opportunities are out there and the roof is going to blow off. It's going to pop. It's coming." The 49ers have played top-five defenses in back-to-back games. Washington is ranked 28th.

Sun Nov 10 201319:09Kaepernick held to 91 yards, CAR pulls upset
Colin Kaepernick completed 11-of-22 passes for 91 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 10-9 Week 10 loss to the Panthers.
This was a hideous slugfest. Kaepernick was dominated by the Panthers' freakishly good front seven, getting held to 16 rushing yards on four scrambles and absorbing six sacks. It certainly didn't help that Vernon Davis (concussion) left early in the second quarter, but Kaep wasn't going to have a big day anyway. He's now been held under 200 yards passing in seven of nine games this year and has just 12 total touchdowns on the season. Kaepernick will just be a borderline QB1 at New Orleans in Week 11. He needs Davis to get cleared.

Sun Oct 27 201316:01Kap shreds Jags for 3 TDs & 218 total yards
Colin Kaepernick completed 10-of-16 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown, and rushed seven times for 54 yards and two more scores as the 49ers blew out the Jaguars in Week 8.
Colt McCoy became the fifth backup quarterback to see action against the lifeless Jaguars this season when he replaced a healthy Kaepernick late in San Francisco's blowout London win. Kaepernick was magnificent for the brief time period Sunday's game was in any doubt, ripping off productive runs on the perimeter and connecting with Vernon Davis for a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Through eight games, Kaepernick is on pace to account for 24 all-purpose touchdowns. Expect his production to rise in more competitive games going forward. The 49ers will host the Panthers in Week 10, following a Week 9 bye. Mario Manningham (knee) is expected to come off the PUP list during the open date.

Sun Oct 20 201319:47Kaepernick runs for 68 yards, TD in Week 7
Colin Kaepernick completed 13-of-21 passes for 199 yards in Week 7 against the Titans.
Kaepernick did work with his legs, rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown on 11 attempts. Two of those "attempts" were kneel-downs at the end of the game. Kaepernick had failed to eclipse 22 yards rushing in five-of-six games before Sunday, so it was nice to see him escape the pocket and create plays this week. His touchdown came from 20 yards out as we waltzed into the end zone untouched. Kaepernick also had another big 20-yard pickup on third-and-11. The 49ers have a dream fantasy matchup against the Jaguars in London next week. The London contests typically are of the high-scoring variety.

Sun Oct 13 201320:25Kaepernick throws for 252 yards, 2 TDs in win
Colin Kaepernick completed 16-of-29 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Week 6 against the Cardinals.
Kaepernick tallied 18 yards on the ground. He and Vernon Davis were firing on all cylinders, especially in the first half as they connected for two touchdowns. Kaepernick didn't complete a pass to one of his wide receivers until there were under two minutes to play in the opening half. Davis is clearly his favorite target and we have no issues locking Davis in as a top-six tight end for the season's remainder. Kaepernick and the Niners travel to Tennessee next week.

Thu Oct 10 201320:03Roman declines comment on Kaepernick's foot
Speaking Thursday, 49ers OC Greg Roman declined comment on Colin Kaepernick's (foot) presence on the Week 6 injury report.
Kaepernick is practicing in full - so there's no reason to worry about his Week 6 status - but it's a bit odd Roman would decline comment. Kaepernick also appeared on the Week 2 injury report with a foot issue. It's total speculation, but it could be a part of the reason Kaepernick has attempted just 27 rushes in five games. Kaep is Rotoworld's No. 14 quarterback for Week 6.
