The 23-year-old Difo only recently made it to the Double-A level for the first time, but he's managed a .308/.339/.500 triple-slash line over 56 plate appearances for Harrisburg. He spent all of last season with Low-A Hagerstown, producing a .315/.360/.470 triple-slash line in 136 games, with 14 home runs and 49 stolen bases. While Difo has an intriguing combo of power and speed for a middle infielder, it's surprising to see him called up at this stage in his career, and he doesn't figure to see regular at-bats with the Nationals. | ||||||

Although he fared well in Grapefruit League play (7-for-22 with a double, a triple and four RBI), the 22-year-old Difo never had a realistic chance to earn a roster spot out of camp. That said, thee experience with the big club should serve him well, as he looks to take the next step in his progression after batting .315/.260/.470 with 49 stolen bases in 58 attempts at Low-A last season. | ||||||

If the young infielder was intimidated standing in against a bona fide big league ace, he certainly didn't show it. Difo is still a year or two away from competing for a regular spot in the Nationals' lineup, but he's giving the club a nice taste of his upside this spring. | ||||||
