Jeff Baker left Thursday's game in the eighth inning with vision problems and will pay a visit to an eye specialist. |
Mike Fontenot replaced him and led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a triple. Baker was filling in for Aramis Ramirez. It's not clear if the vision problem will keep him out longer than a game or two. |

Sat Apr 10 2010 | 16:09 | Baker's blast pushes Cubs to win over Reds |
Jeff Baker hit a go-ahead solo home run in a 4-3 win over the Reds on Saturday afternoon. |
Reds manager Dusty Baker started the eighth with the lefty Arthur Rhodes, so Cubs manager Lou Piniella quickly countered by pinch-hitting Mike Fontenot with Baker. It paid off in a big way. Though Fontenot should draw the majority of starts at second base, Baker is Piniella's primary second baseman against left-handers. It sounds like an ideal platoon. |
