Casilla notched his 16th save with a perfect ninth inning in the Giants' 5-4 win over Philadelphia on Friday night. He struck out one.
He was coming off a pair of shaky outings where he had allowed four runs in 1.2 innings so this was a much needed bounce back. With 16 of 19 save chances successfully converted, his job is safe, but a 1.41 WHIP does suggest he could vulnerable.

Casilla blew the save on Sunday against the Braves as he allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and a walk in less than an inning of work.
Freddie Freeman homered off Casilla to start the comeback in the ninth inning before three more runs came around to score after en error, a walk and two more hits. The 34-year-old still owns a sharp 2.88 ERA on the season and is 15-for-18 in save opportunities even after the meltdown, so his role as the Giants' closer should be secure for now.

Casilla was shaky Friday, surrendering a run on a hit and two walks, but still managed to pick up his 15th save of the season.
Casilla was spotted a three-run lead to begin the ninth, so his uncharacteristically wild inning did not cost the Giants' the game. The earned run ended a streak of thirteen consecutive scoreless appearances. Casilla still owns a sparkling 1.66 ERA on the year, and while his 3.80 FIP suggests regression, he has always kept his ERA around two runs lower than his FIP in his tenure with the Giants. So he may simply be an exception to the rule. Continue to roll Casilla out there with confidence.

Casilla tossed a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts against the Brewers on Wednesday to earn his 14th save of the season.
Make it 13 straight scoreless appearances for Casilla, who is now tied for second in the National League with 14 saves. He's issued just three free passes in his last 12.2 innings, and his strikeout rate is up more than three percent from a year ago (from 20.6% to 24.1%).

Casilla earned his 13th save of the season on Tuesday in a win over Milwaukee.

Casilla gave up two hits but recorded the final out of Saturday's Game 1 to earn his 12th save of the season.
The 34-year-old is 12-for-14 in save chances this season after nailing down the win in the first game of Saturday's twin bill. Manager Bruce Bochy figures to turn elsewhere if a save situation arises Sunday, as Casilla has now pitched each of the last three days and four of the last five.

Casilla tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his 11th save of the season in Friday's 11-8 win over the Rockies.
Though Casilla had a three-run cushion upon entering the game, the save chance was far from a low-pressure one. The Giants actually held an 11-4 advantage to start the ninth, but Casilla was summoned after Jeremy Affeldt failed to record an out while giving up thee runs. Casilla inherited two runners and allowed one to come around and score on a Ben Paulsen double, but struck out Nick Hundley to end the threat. With a 1.47 ERA and 17 strikeouts over his 18.1 innings, Casilla appears to have plenty of stability in his role as the Giants' closer.

Casilla pitched an immaculate inning to convert his ninth save in Sunday's win over the Reds.
This was about as dominating of a save as you can earn, as Casilla fanned all three batters he faced on just nine total pitches. He is well on his way to surpass his mark of 19 saves from a year ago.

Casilla earned his fourth win of the season on Sunday, retiring the final two batters in the top of the ninth before the Giants won the game in the bottom of the inning.
The 34-year-old is giving fantasy owners production across the board so far, with eight saves and three wins along with his solid ratios. Casilla won't keep racking up wins at this pace, but is secure in his role as the Giants' closer and should continue to provide plenty of fantasy value.

Casilla picked up his seventh save of the season in the flukiest manner possible, recording his only out on a Matt Joyce would-be game-tying line drive that made contact with pinch-runner Taylor Featherston as he rounded the bases.
Joe Panik may have snagged Joyce's shot to get the out anyway, but fantasy players with shares in Casilla don't really care how narrow the escape was, just so long as he got the save. He's not an elite closer by any means, but so far this season Casilla has been worth the investment.

Casilla earned the win Friday night after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings against the Angels.

Casilla pitched a clean inning to pick up his sixth save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Casilla has now converted 6-of-7 save opportunities this season. The early-season reports that Sergio Romo could share some save chances have been put to rest; Casilla is the clear-cut closer for the Giants.

Casilla picked up his second win of the season Thursday, tossing a scoreless inning in the walk-off win over the Dodgers.
While he didn't allow a run, Casilla tiptoed around a bases-loaded situation in the top of the ninth inning (one hit, one walk, one HBP). The Giants scored on Justin Maxwell's walk-off hit in the bottom of the inning, giving Casilla his second win of the season. While it wasn't a save, his owners are likely content with the outcome Thursday.

Casilla converted the rare one-out save in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Dodgers.
The Giants had a five-run lead heading into the ninth inning Tuesday, but Jean Machi allowed a run and left a couple runners on base before manager Bruce Bochy had seen enough. He brought in Casilla, who needed just two pitchers to convert his fifth save of the season.

Casilla surrendered the go-ahead run in the tenth inning of Thursday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
It wasn't a save situation, but the Giants needed Casilla to shut down the opposition in extra innings and he failed to deliver. He has now given up two runs on four hits and two walks over his last two appearances. He is still 3-for-3 in save opportunities this season, so as long as he continues to get the job done in the ninth inning, then his job is relatively safe.

Casilla pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout to earn his third save of the season against the Padres on Thursday.
Casilla got the call again as the game went into extra innings. Sergio Romo pitched a perfect eighth inning, but it looks as though manager Bruce Bochy will go with Casilla in save situations until further notice.

Casilla picked up his second save of the season, allowing no runs and one hit while striking out one in Wednesday's win over Arizona.
Casilla is now 2-for-2 for the season in save opportunities and is the Giants' closer for the foreseeable future. Sergio Romo pitched the eighth, but manager Bruce Bochy has said that he could go with Romo occasionally this season.

Casilla earned the first save opportunity of the season for the Giants on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, hurling a perfect ninth inning.
Casilla was the expected closer coming into this season, but Sergio Romo is still an option out of the bullpen. Romo did come in in relief of starter Madison Bumgarner, but Casilla struck out one batter in the ninth and was out with a save in just 12 pitches.
Sat Apr 4 201517:05Manager Bruce Bochy said that Casilla closer
Manager Bruce Bochy said that Casilla is his closer, but he could go to Romo occasionally this season, CSN Bay Area reports.
While this doesn't sound good for Casilla owners, having the set-up man vulture a few saves isn't an unusual situation. Bochy mentioned that he would turn to Romo (who is historically strong against righties) when the opposing team has a righty-heavy lineup. Casilla will still see the majority of save chances when healthy this season.

Casilla is struggling this spring, but it is not due to the minor shin injury that he suffered at the start of spring training.
Casilla has given up seven runs on ten hits over six innings this spring. He suffered a minor shin contusion at the start of spring training after taking a line drive off of his leg during a live BP session. Despite his early struggles, Casilla is not listed on the injury report and his slow start is not injury-related. He is still in line to be the closer for the reigning World series champions come Opening Day.
