Casilla (shin) pitched an inning of relief Wednesday and showed no signs of the shin contusion that he suffered a week ago.

Casilla had a bit of a scare during a live batting practice session on February 26 when Casey McGehee drilled a ball off of the closer's shin. The injury was never considered serious, and Casilla's appearance in Wednesday's game further proved that theory. He should be fine going forward and is currently penciled in to be the Giants' closer to start the year.

Casilla was hit on the left foot by a Casey McGehee line drive during live batting practice Thursday but merely suffered a contusion, Chris Haft of MLB.com reports.

The incident provided a bit of a scare, but Casilla walked off under his own power and manager Bruce Bochy later confirmed that the right-hander escaped with just a bruise. Casilla recorded 16 saves over the final three months of the 2014 season after taking over closer duties from Sergio Romo, and then turned in nine scoreless appearances in the postseason en route to a World Series win. He's expected to serve as the team's endgame option this upcoming season.

Casilla picked up his 18th save of the season Thursday, tossing a clean inning in the win over San Diego.

Casilla has been brilliant ever since taking over for Sergio Romo as the closer mid-season. He has converted 18-of-22 save opportunities to compliment his 1.73 ERA on the season.

This is the second game in a row that Casilla has given up a run and the third time in his last five appearances. All told, Casilla is 9-for-12 in save chances this year and boasts a stellar 1.48 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 42.2 innings pitched.
