The Blazers are not expected to waive G Elliot Williams, who had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon recently, but have asked for a medical exception. |
This is great news for Williams, although it's unclear what the Blazers would do with the exception if they get it. They would only be responsible for 50% of his salary though, which is the motivating factor behind the move. |

Wed Sep 12 2012 | 15:35 | Elliot Williams to wait on Achilles surgery |
Elliot Williams (Achilles) has not had his surgery yet, as it is likely he is waiting for the swelling in his ankle to go down before he goes under the knife. |
Usually it takes about a week or so for the swelling to completely subside, after which Williams will undergo surgery to repair the Achilles he tore during voluntary workouts on Tuesday. He won't be able to step onto a court for six months post-surgery and will likely take a full year to get back to full strength. Even for those in very deep re-draft leagues, it's safe to cross him off your fantasy draft boards. |
