Thu Mar 9 202314:12Masyn Winn Impressing In Camp
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect Masyn Winn has been turning heads in spring training so far. So far in Grapefruit League play, he's gone 7-for-18 (.389) with a homer, double, two RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases in seven games played. It's nice to see, but the 20-year-old has yet to play at the Triple-A level on the farm and is expected to begin the 2023 season in the minor leagues for more seasoning. According to MLB Pipeline, Winn is listed as St. Louis' No. 2 prospect behind third baseman Jordan Walker, who is also impressing this spring. Winn probably won't be worth drafting in redraft fantasy leagues this year, but he could have the full-time starting gig at the 6 in St. Louis by 2024.

Mon Mar 6 202315:31Masyn Winn Shows Patience On Monday
Hitting first for the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, shortstop prospect Masyn Winn went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and a pair of walks. Winn has been off to a nice start this spring with six hits over his first 15 at-bats. He has also scored four runs to go along with a homer, two RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Behind third baseman Jordan Walker, Winn is the best prospect in the Cardinals system. Winn has always had elite defense, but he improved his patience at the plate and started elevating the ball more in 2022. This was evident with a .283 batting average to go along with 12 homers, 63 RBI and 43 stolen bases between High-A and Double-A. The Cardinals currently have infielder Tommy Edman slated to be the Opening Day shortstop with veteran Paul DeJong also on the roster and their current situation presents a hard situation for Winn to make the big-league squad. Managers in dynasty leagues should consider stashing the speedy shortstop, while redraft managers shouldn't expect much out of Winn for now with no clear path to playing time.
