CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mariners are in talks with free agent left-hander Chris Capuano.

Sat Feb 15 201413:09Several teams still interested in Capuano
Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the White Sox, Marlins, Dodgers and Mariners are among the teams interested in free agent left-hander Chris Capuano.
One of the reasons that the veteran southpaw hasn't reached a deal yet is that his asking price is reportedly still very high. If he can land a rotation spot someplace, he has enough ability to be mixed-league worthy.

Sat Feb 8 201422:20Orioles in talks with LHPs Saunders, Capuano
The Orioles are talking with Joe Saunders and Chris Capuano, a source tells Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.
The O's have been in talks with numerous free agent pitchers this offseason, and it appears they've turned their attention to southpaws in Capuano and Saunders. Capuano, 35, had a 4.26 ERA in 105 2/3 innings with the Dodgers last season, and he recently lowered his asking price from two years to looking for a one-year deal. The Orioles are likely to add at least one more starter before Opening Day.

Fri Jan 31 201411:22Chris Capuano only asking for one year
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Chris Capuano has lowered his asking price from two years to one year.
Capuano has managed to stay relatively healthy over the last three seasons (though he did make a couple trips to the DL last year), but it's not a surprise that he wasn't able to find someone willing to give him a multi-year deal. The left-hander posted a 4.26 ERA and 81/24 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 innings last season with the Dodgers.

Thu Oct 31 201317:38Dodgers decline LHP Capuano's option for '14
Dodgers declined LHP Chris Capuano's $6 million mutual option for 2014.
Capuano will receive a $1 million buyout and test the open market. The 35-year-old left-hander posted a 4.26 ERA and 81/24 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 innings this season. He should draw interest as a backend starter or a swingman in the bullpen.

Fri Oct 18 201318:07Capuano hopes to make World Series roster
Chris Capuano will throw a bullpen session on Friday to remain sharp, in the hope that he'll be added to the World Series roster should the Dodgers advance past the Cardinals in the NLCS.
Capuano was on the roster for the first round of the playoffs, but was replaced by Edinson Volquez before the start of the NLCS. Capuano tossed three scoreless and hitless innings in a victory over the Braves during his only appearance in the NLDS.

Sat Oct 12 201310:06Dodgers cut Capuano from playoff roster
Dodgers reassigned LHP Chris Capuano to the minor leagues.
Los Angeles made the call prior to Friday's Game 1 NLCS loss to the Cardinals. Capuano must have felt a bit jilted, as he earned a victory last Sunday in his only playoff appearance. In that game, the left-hander held the Braves scoreless and hitless for three innings, allowing just three walks. The Dodgers chose to keep only one left-hander -- J.P. Howell -- in the bullpen for the NLCS, a surprising decision.

Mon Oct 7 201300:13Capuano earns victory with solid relief work
Chris Capuano earned the victory for his masterful performance out of the Dodgers bullpen on Sunday, holding the Braves scoreless and hitless for three innings, allowing just three walks.
Capuano was called upon to take over in the fourth inning after starter Hyun-Jin Ryu proved to be ineffective, and he was certainly up to the task. He walked the leadoff hitter in each of his three innings, but kept the Braves at bay and saved the Dodgers bullpen in the process. It's possible that the Dodgers could opt to start Capuano over Ryu should they advance to the NLCS.

Sat Sep 28 201321:57Capuano might be used in relief in postseason
Chris Capuano may be used as a reliever by the Dodgers in the postseason.
Capuano pitched out of the bullpen on Friday, and Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he hopes to find a spot to use Capuano in Sunday's finale as well. The team's rotation is stocked, so relief seems to be the only avenue for the lefty if he hopes to be on the postseason roster.

Chris Capuano (groin) will be used out of the Dodgers bullpen for the time being.
The veteran southpaw threw a successful bullpen session on Friday to test his strained left groin, and came away feeling good. He could very well remain in the bullpen for the rest of the season, as it's a role he should fill during the postseason. Tue Aug 20 201323:44Capuano allows three runs in no-decision
Chris Capuano allowed three runs in five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
It was a standard Capuano start -- right around five innings, a few runs and non-existent strikeouts. Capuano gave up six hits and a walk, striking out one. The left-hander remains at 4-6 with a 4.70 ERA for the season. He's got a much tougher task Sunday when the Dodgers take on the Red Sox.
