RHP Chaz Roe saw his first action of the season Friday night, when he came into the game in the eighth inning and gave up a two-run homer to Seattle's Dae-Ho Lee. Roe was promoted from Triple-A Norfolk one day earlier, filling the void created when LHP T.J. McFarland was placed on the disabled list.

Roe (3-2) secured the 6-5 victory over the Red Sox on Tuesday by yielding a hit and no runs over one inning.

Outside of a Sept. 6 hiccup against the Blue Jays, Roe has been impressive in his other four appearances since his return from the disabled list at the beginning of the month. Roe has not surrendered a run in any of those outings and has done a solid job overall while pitching a career-high 39 innings, opening the 2015 campaign with six successive scoreless efforts and enjoying a particularly strong first half of the season.

Roe (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day DL on Tuesday.

Roe was initially scheduled to come off the DL last week, but the Orioles waited to activate him until Tuesday when the rosters expanded. As a right-handed reliever, Roe has appeared in 28 games this season, posting a 3.12 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work.

Roe was scheduled to throw a simulated game Friday, and it must have gone well with the news that he'll head out on a rehab assignment. It sounds as though the rehab will be extremely short, with a return to the big league club scheduled for Wednesday.

Roe, who has been sidelined since August 10, could head out on a rehab assignment after Friday. The Triple-A season goes through Labor Day weekend, but the Orioles only need to make it to September 1 for rosters to expand. Roe could make his way back any time after that.

It's positive news for Roe, who was placed on the DL with shoulder tendonitis August 10. If everything goes according to plan, the 28-year-old could make a quick rehab stop with Double-A Bowie before rejoining the Orioles around the beginning of September.

News of the prospective move came down earlier in the day, but now it's official, and Roe's injury has been clarified as bursitis in his right shoulder. We'll wait for an updated timeline for the team, but not many fantasy owners were counting on Roe outside of leagues that use holds as a category.

Roe was tagged with the loss, putting the first man on base that came around to score in 0.1 innings of Sunday's loss to the Angels.

Roe gave up a leadoff double and then a punch out before being lifted for Brian Matusz, who intentionally walked Mike Trout and Albert Pujols before giving up the game winning run. He's given up a run in three of his last four appearances and seen his ERA rocket up from 2.20 to 3.12.

Roe threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Nationals.

Roe had dominated his way through the end of June until a hiccup when he allowed two runs each in three of his last four appearances. Roe still has a 2.67 ERA despite the recent rough patch and he has become a valued member of Baltimore's bullpen.

Roe went 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a hit with four strikeouts in Sunday's loss to the Rays.

Roe entered in mop up mode for Chris Tillman and shut the Rays down, earning a strikeout in all four of his outs. Roe has not allowed a run in 7.1 innings over five appearances with the Orioles over the last week. He seems set to stick for now, though the Orioles will have to decide what to do in order to make room for Bud Norris and Kevin Gausman to rejoin the club.

Roe's contract was purchased from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Rich Dubroff of CSN Baltimore reports.

Roe will assume the 40-man roster spot of Wesley Wright (shoulder), who was transferred to the 60-day DL. The 28-year-old Roe posted a 2.19 ERA and struck out 22 batters over 24.2 innings at Norfolk, but he'll likely assume a low-leverage role out of the Orioles' bullpen.

Roe was reassigned to minor league camp Sunday.

Roe entered camp on the outside looking in as far as a roster spot goes, and his chances have now been eliminated. The reliever will now provide the Orioles with organizational depth for the bullpen.

Roe has been signed to a minor league deal with the Orioles, Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors reports.

Roe has been working as a reliever in the minors and the majors since the start of the 2013 season, and simply offers Baltimore some organizational bullpen depth.

The Pirates declined to tender Roe a contract, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel reports.

He was claimed off waivers by the Pirates in September, making Pittsburgh his third team of 2014. He had some success pitching out of the bullpen at Triple-A with the Marlins earlier in the year, but he is unlikely to play a major role with a big league club in 2015.

The Pirates claimed Roe off waivers from the Yankees on Wednesday.

The Yankees designated Roe for assignment earlier in the week, less than a month after acquiring him from Miami. Roe posted respectable numbers (3.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 10.1 K/9) in 47 appearances with the Marlins' Triple-A New Orleans affiliate to begin the year, but he'll likely just eat low-leverage innings over the final few days of the regular season.
