Sun May 18 2014 | 00:42 | Grant Green hits first homer of season |
Grant Green hit his first homer of the year Saturday in the win over the Rays. |
It was a two-run shot off Cesar Ramos. Green was mostly playing against lefties a week ago, but it seems his performance is earning him some time versus righties now. As it should: the Angels need to find out whether he's someone who can contribute after Josh Hamilton and Kole Calhoun return. Green has picked up at least one hit in eight of his nine starts and is batting .324 in 34 at-bats. |

Mon May 12 2014 | 22:17 | Grant Green goes 2-for-3 in loss |
Grant Green went 2-for-3 with a walk on Monday before being removed in favor of pinch-hitter Raul Ibanez. |
Mike Scioscia obviously isn't impressed with Green, .350 average or no. The 26-year-old isn't playing against righties, and even against a lefty tonight, he was down in the ninth spot. And then, despite going 2-for-3, he was removed in favor of a guy hitting .139. Green would seem to be the Angels' best everyday option at third with David Freese and Ian Stewart out, but since he's in the platoon role right now, his fantasy value is very limited. |

Green had to be scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a jammed finger on his left hand. It was never a major issue. The versatile 26-year-old is 4-for-13 (.308) since his promotion to the major leagues on May 2 and should continue to get semi-regular playing time. |

Grant Green is making his second start in the last three games in left field on Monday. |
He's started two of four games since being called up and appeared in all four. Green should also see some playing time at third base against left-handers. The 26-year-old has a potent bat and is worth carrying in deeper fantasy leagues. |

Green, starting at second base, went deep against Jeff Urlaub in the seventh inning. Green lost the competition to be the Angels' utility infielder to John McDonald, which means he will likely start the season with Triple-A Salt Lake. He has had a great spring, however, as he is now hitting .360 in 50 at-bats. |

Acquired from the A's last week in the Alberto Callaspo deal, Green will provide some insurance for the infield after Howie Kendrick left Monday's game with a hyperextended knee. The 25-year-old went 0-for-15 in his first taste of the majors earlier this season, but has produced big numbers in Triple-A. He's worth picking up in AL-only formats. |

Green is a career .306/.354/.469 hitter in the minors but has struggled to find a defensive home. Still, it's a nice get in return for a pretty mediocre player in Callaspo. Green will report to Triple-A Salt Lake. |
