Jaso was 0-for-3 on Wednesday which extended his hitless streak to 17 at-bats.
Jaso has seen his batting average fall from .285 down to .269 during his current slide. Of more concern for Jaso is his .347 OBP so far in 2014, coming on the heels of OBP's of .394 and .387 in 2012 and 2013. He does not hit for a lot of power, but his value was in how often he got on base in the past two seasons, something he is not doing nearly as well in 2014. He should continue to get almost all of the at-bats agaisnt right-handed pitchers in his platoon with Derek Norris.

He has been one of the better offensive catchers in the American League this season, slashing .286/.361/.471 with eight homers and 38 RBI.

Fri May 23 201416:06John Jaso sitting out due to tightness
John Jaso is not in the Athletics' lineup Friday because he's dealing with a little tightness after playing on turf the last few days.
It's not clear what body part(s) is tight, but it's not viewed as a big deal. Jaso had been slated for DH duty, but that will now fall to Kyle Blanks.

Sun May 11 201400:15John Jaso homers, wins game for A's
John Jaso homered in the third and delivered a game-winning double in the 10th as the A's beat the Nationals 4-3 on Saturday.
Jaso thought he might have a second homer in the 10th, but it bounced off the wall in left instead. Fortunately, there were two outs, so Nick Punto was able to run right away and score from first to win the game. It was Jaso's second ever walkoff hit. He has three homers in 80 at-bats this year, matching his total from 207 at-bats last year. He's combined with Derek Norris to give the A's terrific production from the catcher spot so far this year.

Fri May 2 201423:32Jaso reaches bases three times in loss
John Jaso went 2-for-2 with a walk against the Red Sox on Friday.
Jaso tripled and singled in the loss. The 30-year-old now has a .267/.375/.383 batting line through 24 games this season. While it's not an ideal set-up for fantasy owners, the Jaso-Derek Norris platoon is a productive one.

Sat Mar 29 201401:51John Jaso goes 2-for-3, homers
John Jaso went 2-for-3 and hit his second homer versus the Giants on Friday.
It's great news for the A's that Jaso has shaken last year's concussion symptoms and is back catching. However, he probably would have been a bit more valuable for fantasy purposes while being used primarily as a DH, as appeared to be the original plan. Right now, it looks like he'll share time with Derek Norris behind the plate and see very sporadic duty at DH.

Mon Mar 24 201423:42John Jaso to start at catcher vs. righties
John Jaso caught a second straight game on Monday.
It's the first time he's done so this spring. Jaso missed the final two and a half months of the 2013 season due to post-concussion issues, but he hasn't had any recurrences this spring. The plan for now is for him to be the club's regular catcher when the opponent has a right-hander on the mound. Derek Norris will be behind the dish against lefties.

Tue Mar 4 201417:22Jaso homers against the Brewers
John Jaso went 1-for-3 with a solo home run on Tuesday against the Brewers.
Jaso's first blast of the spring came off of Tyler Thornburg in the sixth inning. While Jaso isn't likely to get the lion's share of playing time behind the dish, he will get some extra cuts as the DH and could surpass his current career high of 404 plate appearances.

Sun Mar 2 201418:55John Jaso still dealing with elbow soreness
John Jaso (elbow) is expected to resume catching on Tuesday.
The veteran backstop has yet to resume catching due to a sore elbow after being hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game. With the A's likely to carry three catchers on their Opening Day roster, there's a good chance that a large portion of Jaso's at-bats could come as the designated hitter.

Sat Mar 1 201413:32John Jaso (elbow) to work at DH on Saturday
John Jaso (elbow) is expected to see action at designated hitter during the second half of Saturday's game against the Angels.
Jaso was hit by a pitch above his right elbow on Wednesday, and has experienced significant bruising in the area. He's still having difficulty throwing, which means it'll be a few days still before he gets back behind the dish.
