Jaso (wrist) took part in on-field activities Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Jaso has been slowly progressing since a wrist contusion on Opening Day landed him on the disabled list. He was transferred to the 60-day DL in late April, which should put him on track for a return this month. Although he took both ground balls and fly balls Tuesday, Jaso is still yet to move past hitting from a tee and has no definitive timetable to return. |

Jaso (wrist) has resumed swinging a bat, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Call it another step in Jaso's return, but it's difficult to say what return date the Rays are targeting, or if they even have a date in mind yet. Even if his return goes smoothly, wrist injuries should always be concerns when it comes to power. |

Jaso (wrist) hopes to resume swinging a bat in the coming days as he revealed earlier this week that the swelling in his wrist is nearly gone, the Tampa Tribune reports. |

Jaso will continue to heal from his injured wrist he suffered from early in the season. With Jaso currently on the 60-day DL and sometime in early June currently designated as the return date, he will not be seeing any action for at least another month. |
Mon Apr 27 2015 | 13:38 | Jaso (wrist) transferred to 60-day disabled list Monday |
Jaso (wrist) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Jaso's placement on the 60-day DL pushes his return date back to early June. It's an unfortunate start to the season for him, as he's currently just on a one-year deal with the Rays. Unless he performs really well in the second half of the season, his prospects for next season won't be as large as he had as a potential everyday DH coming into 2015. For now, his focus will remain on getting healthy and back in June, at which point he could take over the role as the designated hitter once again should he prove healthy and productive. |
Sat Apr 18 2015 | 16:05 | Jaso (wrist) without timetable to resume swinging |
Jaso (wrist) is without a timetable to resume swinging, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Manager Kevin Cash had previously indicated Jaso likely wouldn't be ready to return when first eligible, but it's now sounding like he will be out well beyond his earliest possible activation date. Jaso said he "can't really even lift a bat with [his] left hand." He underwent a follow-up X-ray, which showed no break, but he may be dealing with some bone bruising. |

Jaso (wrist) is not expected to ready to return from the DL when first eligible, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
As of Wednesday, Jaso still had not been cleared to swing a bat, and manager Kevin Cash said the 31-year-old will likely need more time beyond his earliest possible activation date. The injury, a sprained wrist, was suffered on Opening Day. |

Jaso (wrist) has yet to swing a back since landing on the disabled list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Jaso suffered a wrist contusion on Opening Day, and the swelling has apparently gone down, but the lefty catcher has yet to take some cuts with a bat. Once he does get to this step, a clearer timetable for his return will likely be established. Look for Rene Rivera to continue to serve as the Rays' primary backstop in the meantime. |
Thu Apr 9 2015 | 22:25 | John Jaso: (Wrist) Placed On 15-Day DL |
Jaso (wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. |

Jaso (wrist) may be placed on the disabled list this weekend when the Rays are on the road in Miami and need to play under National League rules, the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
The Rays may be holding off on making the move sooner in order to have Jaso available as a pinch-runner if needed. If he doesn't play in a game before the move, Jaso's placement would become retroactive to April 7. |
Tue Apr 7 2015 | 16:06 | Jaso (wrist) not taking part in any baseball activities Tuesday |
Jaso (wrist) is not taking part in any baseball activities Tuesday, and he will be re-evaluated Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Jaso said his wrist is pretty sore, and he's expected to miss games against the Orioles on Tuesday and Wednesday. He may have a shot to return for a weekend series against the Blue Jays, but a longer absence would leave more at-bats for David DeJesus, Kevin Kiermaier and Brandon Guyer. |
Mon Apr 6 2015 | 18:45 | John Jaso: (Wrist) Out At Least A Couple Days |
Jaso (wrist) will miss at least a couple days, but he does not believe a DL stint will be required, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports. |
He has a sprained wrist and says it's really sore, but fortunately the MRI came back negative, so this should not sideline him for too long. However, owners should expect to be without Jaso for at least the next couple days. |

Mon Mar 9 2015 | 11:54 | John Jaso: (Shin) Will Return To Action Tuesday |
Jaso (shin) is feeling better and will get the start in left field Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports. |
This is excellent news after Jaso left Saturday's Grapefruit League game with a bruise on his right shin. He is a solid investment at the end of mixed league drafts as he qualifies at catcher in many formats but will be playing the outfield and DH this season, which should allow him to be in the lineup whenever a righty is on the mound. |

Jaso left Saturday's Grapefruit League game with a bruise on his lower right leg, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. |
Jaso was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat, and while he was able to stay in the game initially, he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the third inning. The team does not believe the injury is anything serious, but consider Jaso day-to-day until he returns to action. |
Thu Mar 5 2015 | 07:56 | Jaso has looked good in outfield drills to this point |
Jaso has looked good in outfield drills to this point, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. |
Upon his acquisition from the A's back in January, the plan was for Jaso to mostly fill the role of DH against right-handed pitching. However, after spending the last week practicing in the outfield, the 31-year-old veteran, who has spent most of his career as a catcher, could certainly see time in left and right this season. |
