Cosart (oblique) has been confirmed as Tuesday's starter against the Cardinals.
The Marlins were forced to scratch Cosart from his last scheduled start due to an oblique injury, but he made it through a bullpen session unscathed and has been cleared to toe the rubber Tuesday opposite Adam Wainwright. Cosart sustained the injury following his first career hit back on Aug. 1, and he may be restricted to bunting Tuesday.

Cosart (oblique) remains on-track to return to the mound Tuesday against the Cardinals, but will likely be limited at the plate, the Miami Herald reports.
Cosart's oblique tightened up following his first career major league hit during his Marlins debut on August 1, forcing him to the disabled list. Manager Mike Redmond indicated that that the DL stint was an attempt to play it safe with the recent acquisition so Cosart will be ready to take on a full workload on the mound Tuesday -- just don't expect him to take too many hard hacks at the plate.

Wed Aug 6 201417:02Jarred Cosart: (Oblique) Scratched From Thursday's Start
Cosart has been scratched from his scheduled start Thursday due to an oblique injury, Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The extent of the injury is uncertain, but Cosart will miss at least one start as a result, opening the door for Brian Flynn to toe the rubber in Thursday's series finale against Pittsburgh. Cosart gave up four runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out three over 5.1 innings against the Reds on Friday in his Marlins debut.

Cosart worked 5.1 innings, allowing four earned runs, four hits and two walks while striking out three in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Reds.
Making his Marlins' debut, Cosart tossed five strong frames before the Reds got to him and the Miami bullpen for three runs in the sixth. The 24-year-old righty struggled mightily through July with the Astros, posting a dreadful 8.02 ERA and 2.16 WHIP across 21.1 innings, so this effort actually is at least a bit encouraging. Cosart will likely be back atop the mound Thursday versus the Pirates.

Cosart will make his Marlins debut Friday against the Reds, confirms Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Acquired from the Astros ahead of Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline, Cosart will immediately slot into the Marlins rotation taking Jacob Turner's slot. Cosart holds a 4.41 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 75:51 K:BB over 116.1 innings this season and will be vying for his first quality start since June 26 when he takes the hill Friday. He will benefit from a move to the National League and into a more spacious home ballpark.
Thu Jul 31 201420:31Jarred Cosart: Could Start Friday
Cosart, who was traded from the Astros to the Marlins on Thursday, may start Friday's game against the Reds, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Jacob Turner is scheduled to start Friday, and the expectation is that Cosart will replace either Turner or Brad Hand in the rotation. While both Turner and Hand own shaky numbers (traditional and peripheral), Hand at least has four quality starts in his last five tries.
Thu Jul 31 201416:30Jarred Cosart: Moved To Miami
The Astros traded Cosart to the Marlins on Thursday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Marlins traded Jake Marisnick, Colin Moran, Francis Martes and a 2015 competitive balance pick to the Astros in exchange for Cosart, Enrique Hernandez, and Austin Wates. Cosart's numbers this season are certainly nothing to write home about (4.41 ERA, 5.8 K/9), but he represents an upgrade at the back end of the rotation for Miami. Either Jacob Turner or Brad Hand will likely be moved to the bullpen.
Thu Jul 31 201411:18Rosenthal: Astros very busy with Cosart calls
Houston is "very, very busy" taking calls on Jarred Cosart, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The 24-year-old is 9-7 with a 4.41 ERA and will exit this season with just 1.070 years service time, leaving him under club control for years. The Astros will need to be presented with an offer they can't refuse, but GM Jeff Luhnow is apparently fishing hard.

Sat Jul 26 201422:52Cosart gives up five runs in loss to Marlins
Jarred Cosart gave up five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday in the Astros' loss to the Marlins.
Cosart struggled right out of the gate, yielding a first-inning RBI single to Casey McGehee and then four runs in the second inning. He's really fallen off the rails lately, now with a 4.41 ERA and 1.46 WHIP on the year. A home start against the Blue Jays is next.

Sun Jul 20 201418:08Cosart ekes out of start with a no-decision
Jarred Cosart got a no-decision on Sunday, yielding four runs (three earned) over five innings against the White Sox on Sunday.
Sunday's outing was certainly an improvement over his last two, when he allowed six runs each. Against the White Sox, he allowed seven hits, four walks, and struck out four. Cosart has been inconsistent and now sports a 4.23 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP and a 71/47 K/BB ratio. He'll try to get back on the right path when he takes on the Marlins at home over the weekend.

Tue Jul 1 201423:55Cosart rocked by Mariners for sixth loss
Jarred Cosart was knocked around by the Mariners on Tuesday, allowing six runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings in the loss.
Cosart also walked more batters than he struck out, fanning three while issuing four free passes. The loss came after Cosart had rattled off four straight wins, as Tuesday's outing was the first time he'd allowed more than three runs in a start since April 18. Even with the poor start, the 24-year-old is 8-6 with a 3.93 ERA through 17 starts on the year. He'll try to get back in the win column Sunday at the Angels.

Thu Jun 26 201417:26Jarred Cosart earns fourth straight win
Jarred Cosart won a fourth straight start by limiting the Braves to one run in seven innings on Thursday.
Those last three wins have come with a total of six strikeouts in 22 innings. Cosart has a strong groundball rate and his command is improving every month, it seems, but it's still going to be a tough thing for him to maintain a sub-4.00 ERA when he relies so much on his defense. Regardless, the current streak is worth enjoying. He and Dallas Keuchel are both now 8-5 this season, giving the Astros two pitchers with more wins than their 2013 team leader (Jordan Lyles went 7-9).

Fri Jun 20 201422:23Cosart tosses eight scoreless innings in win
Jareed Cosart fired eight scoreless innings in Friday's 3-1 win over the Rays.
Cosart took advantage of a struggling Tampa Bay offense to make his longest start of the year. He scattered six hits (all of them singles) while walking one and striking out a pair. The young right-hander has now allowed three earned runs or fewer in 11 consecutive starts and owns a solid 3.78 ERA on the year. While he struggled with his control early on in the season, he has walked two batters or fewer in each of his last five starts. He'll try to keep the momentum going next week against the Braves at home.

He evens his overall record to 5-5 to go with a 4.19 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Cosart has a matinee in Houston on Saturday against Chris Archer and the Rays.
