Wed Jul 6 201101:08Bay hits pair of home runs in Tuesday's win
Jason Bay hit a pair of home runs in Tuesday's victory over the Dodgers.
He collected four RBI in the game and continues to show signs of life. Bay is now working on an eight-game hitting streak. He's hitting .366 during that stretch and only didn't pick up at least one RBI in two of those games. Bay was hitting .207 on June 14 but has raised his average to .252 since then. Ride him while he's hot.

Wed Jun 29 201123:31Jason Bay has nice night as Mets rock Tigers
Jason Bay continued to show signs of life on Wednesday, drawing four walks while going 1-for-3 with an RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases in New York's 16-9 pasting of the Tigers in Detroit.
Bay is having quite the series in Detroit. Of course, he is still just two for his past 13 at the plate, but it's hard to argue with this kind of performance on the heels of his Tuesday grand slam. If you've been looking for a reason, any reason, to take a flier on Bay in your mixed league, there's never been a better time than now.

Sun Jun 26 201111:46Bay, Turner return to lineup
Both Jason Bay (neck) and Justin Turner (thumb) will return to the lineup Sunday.
Bay sat out Saturday with a stiff neck, while Turner missed the game after aggravating a thumb injury. They'll square off against the Rangers' Derek Holland.

Sat Jun 25 201113:11Jason Bay out with stiff neck
Jason Bay is not in Saturday's lineup due to a stiff neck.
Bay has actually swung the bat better of late, as he had three singles Friday and is batting .378 over his last nine games, so it's a shame he has to miss any time. But, it seems likely that he'll be ready to play Sunday.

Fri Jun 24 201119:11Bay to bat cleanup against southpaws
Mets manager Terry Collins said Friday that he intends to use Jason Bay out of the cleanup spot against left-handed starters.
Bay batted cleanup Wednesday against Gio Gonzalez and is in there again Friday night against Matt Harrison. Assuming Collins sticks to his current plan, this means we should also expect him to bat cleanup Sunday against Derek Holland and next Wednesday against Tigers' left-hander Phil Coke.

Fri Jun 24 201116:07Bay batting cleanup Friday vs. Rangers
Jason Bay is batting cleanup again Friday night against the Rangers.
Bay has batted cleanup twice in the past three games, both against left-handed starters. He's shown some hints at busting out of his slump recently, so perhaps a weekend at the hitter-friendly Ballpark at Arlington can get his confidence going.

Thu Jun 23 201109:41Bay dropped to sixth spot Thursday
Jason Bay is back in the sixth spot for Thursday's matinee against the Athletics.
Bay was moved up to the cleanup spot after going 3-for-3 with a home run on Tuesday night, but he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Wednesday's extra-inning win. There's still upside here, but he remains a frustrating enigma for fantasy owners.

Wed Jun 22 201115:28Jason Bay moves up to cleanup spot
Jason Bay is batting cleanup for the Mets Wednesday.
Manager Terry Collins indicated he would likely make the move following Bay's 3-for-3 performance against left-hander Josh Outman Tuesday. The A's are going with another lefty, Gio Gonzalez, Wednesday, so it's possible Bay will be moved back down against right-handers. But, regardless, it's good to see him finally trending in the right direction.

Wed Jun 22 201109:51Jason Bay could be moved up in order
Mets manager Terry Collins said he might move Jason Bay up in the batting order Wednesday after the outfielder picked up three hits, including a homer, Tuesday.
Bay has been primarily batting sixth this month while occasionally hitting fifth. "If he's going to swing, I'm going to move him up. That's why he's here," Collins said. "I don't want to jam him in the spot as he's starting to get comfortable. But [tonight] we're facing a guy [lefty Gio Gonzalez] who's really tough, and having Jason Bay in the middle of the lineup might help." Bay has tallied multiple hits in four of his last six games.

Tue Jun 21 201122:40Jason Bay goes 3-for-3, homers
Jason Bay had a rare big night Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with an RBI triple and a solo homer in a loss to the A's.
Don't look now, but Bay has secured multi-hit performances in four of his last six games. It's his first longball since May 13 and just his third on the year to go along with 15 RBI. He's still not mixed league material right now, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Wed Jun 15 201115:03Bay back in starting lineup Wednesday
Jason Bay is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Braves.
He'll bat sixth against right-hander Tim Hudson. Bay was held out of the lineup Tuesday night because Mets manager Terry Collins preferred using Willie Harris against Jair Jurrjens. We could see more mixing and matching if Bay's struggles continue.

Tue Jun 14 201115:20Bay not in Mets' lineup Tuesday
Jason Bay is not in the Mets' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Braves.
Bay has gone 2-for-10 at the plate since taking a couple of days off to rest his head. If the struggles continue, he'll be out of the lineup more and more often. Willie Harris is playing left field Tuesday.

Thu Jun 9 201117:16Bay to sit out at least two games
Jason Bay will sit out for at least two games.
Mets manager Terry Collins is doing all he can to help Bay get out of his career-worst offensive slump. The 32-year-old is batting just .207/.307/.279 this season and doesn't have a hit in his past 23 at-bats.

Thu Jun 9 201116:01Bay not in Thursday's lineup vs. Brewers
Jason Bay is not in Thursday's lineup against the Brewers.
Bay is currently in a career-worst 0-for-23 funk at the plate, so he'll take a seat against the tough right-hander Yovani Gallardo. Jason Pridie will make the start in left and bat sixth.

Thu Jun 9 201109:28Bay prepared to lose playing time
Jason Bay is prepared for the possibility that he may start losing playing time.
"That's the reality of the situation we're in," said Bay. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you that is not an option. I'm pretty aware of what's going on." Bay went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers, which extended his hitless streak to 23 at-bats. He is now batting just .207 with two homers and 10 RBI over 164 plate appearances this season. We're guessing the Mets will keep sending him out there most nights, but it's worth noting that Lucas Duda is tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A Buffalo right now.

Wed Jun 8 201112:20Bay hitless over last 20 at-bats
After going 0-for-3 with a walk on Tuesday night against the Brewers, Jason Bay is now hitless over his last 20 at-bats.
It's the worst hitless streak of his major league career. Bay is now batting just .212 with a pathetic .285 slugging percentage and .593 OPS over 160 plate appearances this season. He hasn't had an extra-base hit since May 19. The Mets will keep sending him out there in hopes that he figures things out, but those in mixed leagues are advised to look elsewhere.

Sun Jun 5 201115:56Jason Bay not in Sunday's lineup
Jason Bay is not in Sunday's lineup.
Bay was moved down to No. 6 in the batting order Saturday, and after another hitless game, is now out of the lineup altogether. He's managed just a .216/.310/.291 batting line in 134 at-bats this season.

Sat Jun 4 201114:51Jason Bay dropped to sixth in lineup
Jason Bay was dropped to sixth in the batting order for Saturday's game against the Braves.
$66 million just doesn't buy you what it used to, does it? It's actually the third time he's batted sixth this season, but the first two times came when David Wright and Ike Davis were healthy. In the midst of a 1-for-17 slide at the plate and sporting a .223/.318/.300 batting line for the season, Bay is certainly frustrating the Mets and mixed league owners.

Mon May 30 201117:01Bay not in Monday's lineup vs. Pirates
Jason Bay is not in Monday's lineup against the Pirates.
Bay isn't hurt, but Mets manager Terry Collins has decided to stack his depleted lineup with left-handed hitters. Jason Pridie will make the start in left field Monday and bat seventh against right-hander Charlie Morton.
