Ethier is out of Wednesday's lineup against the Reds.

Ethier is generally regarded to as an "overrated" or "overpaid" player, but his production this season would say otherwise. In fact, his .873 OPS against right-handers is one of the best in the NL for qualifying hitters. Look for him to continue to bat cleanup against righties, while featuring against lefties only occasionally.

Ethier went 2-for-5, hitting two home runs and driving in three RBI in a 5-3 victory over the Angels on Sunday.

After returning from a brief two game hiatus, Ethier came back with a vengeance on Sunday, hitting a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning before rocketing a two-run game-winning home run in the tenth inning off Drew Rucinski to secure the victory for the Dodgers. Prior to Sunday's game, Ethier had been slashing a very respectable .278/.362./.459 in 304 plate appearances and was on pace to exceed his home run total for the last two years combined (16).

Ethier sat out each of the previous two games with left-handers on the mound for the Angels. With their outfield at full health now, look for the Dodgers to utilize a platoon setup in left field, with Ethier receiving the larger portion of the timeshare with Scott Van Slyke.

As expected, Ethier will remain on the bench in favor of Scott Van Slyke with the Angels trotting out a lefty (Andrew Heaney) for the second day in a row. Look for Ethier to be back in left field for Sunday's series finale, assuming the Angels do indeed go with Nick Tropeano for that start.

Scott Van Slyke will take over in left field as Ethier rides the pine against a lefty (Hector Santiago), as he almost always does. Ethier has gone more than a month without a homer but he is getting on base at a .410 clip in July, his third month of the season with an OBP over .390.

The 33-year-old Ethier is just likely receiving some rest for Saturday, with Alex Guerrero taking over left field.

Ethier returned from a quad injury in Saturday's game, but he will be held out in the team's final game before the All-Star break. It is likely just precautionary, and it is expected that Ethier will return to the lineup following the break. Enrique Hernandez will start in left field in Ethier's place and will bat eighth.

Ethier (quadriceps) is back in the lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

Tightness in Ethier's left quadriceps forced him from Thursday's game and kept him out of the lineup Friday, but he'll return to the order Saturday and bat seventh as the Dodgers' left fielder. He'll be facing righty Taylor Jungmann, who allowed one run on four hits across eight innings in his most recent outing.

Ethier (quad) is sitting Friday with general soreness, but he's expected to rejoin the lineup Saturday, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

Ethier was removed from Thursday's game early due to quad tightness, and the combination of that and soreness will hold him out Friday as well. Alex Guerrero will start in left field in his place, batting seventh for the Dodgers.
