Fri Aug 19 201110:03Alex White near Rockies debut
Alex White (finger) could join the Rockies rotation next week.
He allowed just three hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in his latest rehab outing for Double-A Tulsa on Thursday, and appears to be 100 percent healthy after straining the middle finger on his pitching hand in May. He'll be worth an immediate look in NL-only leagues upon his recall, though his first few starts in hitter's haven Coors Field can't be expected to be sterling.

Sun Jul 31 201115:59Rockies acquire RHP White in Jimenez deal
Rockies acquired RHPs Alex White and Joe Gardner, 1B-OF Matt McBride and a player to be named later from the Indians for RHP Ubaldo Jimenez.
2010 first-round pick Drew Pomeranz is expected to be announced as the player to be named later once he is eligible to be traded in mid-August. The Rockies were shooting for the moon in a potential deal for Jimenez and they may have gotten it here. White, 22, posted a 1.90 ERA and a 28/5 K/BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings for Triple-A Columbus and a 3.60 ERA over his first three major league starts before going down with a finger injury in May. Assuming he can stay healthy, the 2009 first-round pick has a chance to be a rotation staple.

Because the Indians plan to use him in relief, he shouldn't need much time to build up his pitch count. The 22-year-old right-hander had a 3.60 ERA and 13/9 K/BB ratio over 15 innings prior to the injury.

White left to a 2-2 tie after throwing 109 pitches and striking out four batters. The righty looked shaky at times but sharp at others and is likely to draw a couple more starts while Carlos Carrasco recovers from an elbow injury. White, 22, deserves monitoring in AL-only leagues.

Sat Apr 30 201112:44Alex White called up
Indians recalled RHP Alex White from Triple-A Columbus.
He's replacing the injured Carlos Carrasco (elbow) in the rotation. White, the team's top pitching prospect, has posted a 1.90 ERA and 28/5 K/BB ratio through four starts at Columbus this season. He's got a decent matchup Saturday against the Tigers in his major league debut, but he'd be a risk to start right away.
