Wed May 14 201401:33Turner unravels in 6th inning in loss to LAD
Jacob Turner was beat up by the Dodgers Tuesday to the tune of five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.
This start embodies why Turner will remain a fantasy tease for the time being. He shut out the Dodgers for five innings, then couldn't retire a batter in the sixth inning outside of Josh Beckett. The 22-year-old, who missed most of April with a shoulder strain, is not a good fantasy bet in any format right now. Turner packs his bags for a Sunday matinee in San Francisco.

Sat May 3 201423:22Jacob Turner allows six runs in loss to LAD
Jacob Turner surrendered six earned runs in four innings Saturday as the Marlins fell to the Dodgers.
Turner missed most of April with a shoulder strain and got a rude welcome back from the Dodgers on Saturday evening in Miami. He let up nine hits and made it to just 69 pitches. The 22-year-old now has a 9.90 ERA this season.

Sat May 3 201408:24Fish activate Jacob Turner to start Saturday
Marlins activated RHP Jacob Turner from the 15-day disabled list.
He'll rejoin the Marlins rotation immediately to take on the Dodgers on Saturday. Turner had been sidelined since early April with a strained shoulder, and allowed five runs on eight hits over six innings of work in his only start of the season. Kevin Slowey will head back to a long relief role in the bullpen.

Tue Apr 29 201416:14Jacob Turner to rejoin Marlins on Saturday
Jacob Turner (shoulder) is scheduled to return to the Marlins' rotation on Saturday against the Dodgers.
Turner has been sidelined since the first week of April with a shoulder strain. The 22-year-old is not a good fantasy bet in his first start back against Los Angeles and probably only has NL-only value going forward.

Sun Apr 20 201414:14Jacob Turner to begin rehab assignment
Jacob Turner (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Wednesday.
He's slated for 50-55 pitches in the outing. The plan is for Turner to make an additional rehab start after that before rejoining the Marlins' rotation. "If all goes according to plan, it'll probably be the beginning of May," said Turner, who is coming back from a right shoulder strain.

Wed Apr 16 201410:28Turner could throw off mound this weekend
Jacob Turner (shoulder) could throw off a mound as soon as this weekend.
Turner will throw off flat ground for the second straight day Wednesday. The right-hander is expected to make at least one rehab start before being activated from the disabled list. Early May seems like a realistic target date.

Jacob Turner (shoulder) is expected to play catch Tuesday.

Wed Apr 9 201412:54Jacob Turner (shoulder) put on disabled list
Marlins placed RHP Jacob Turner on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 4, with a right shoulder strain.
It's not clear when Turner suffered the injury or how long he'll be sidelined. The Marlins will move Brad Hand in from the bullpen to take Turner's spot in the rotation. Arquimedes Caminero has been recalled to take his spot on the roster.

Tue Apr 8 201422:37Jacob Turner scratched with strained shoulder
Jacob Turner has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Nationals due to a strained right shoulder.
It's not clear at this point whether the injury will force Turner to the disabled list, but it seems likely. The right-hander dealt with shoulder tendinitis back in 2012, but he didn't have any known issues with the shoulder last season. Brad Hand will come out of the bullpen to start in Turner's place Wednesday.

Thu Apr 3 201416:08Turner gives up five runs vs. Rockies
Jacob Turner gave up five runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.
Turner allowed eight hits (including a two-run homer to Michael Cuddyer) and three walks while striking out just one batter. The 22-year-old is coming off a 3.74 ERA in 20 starts last season, but it's hard to believe a breakout is coming if he doesn't miss more bats. He'll face the Nationals next week.

Sun Mar 23 201417:05Jacob Turner strong versus old club
Facing the team that drafted him, Jacob Turner pitched six innings of one-run ball in the Marlins' win over the Tigers on Sunday.
Turner struck out five and walked one. He's helped his trade stock with progressively better showings his last three outings. Still, it's far from assured that the Marlins will move him. They're content to use him as their fourth starter unless a strong offer comes along.

Thu Mar 20 201414:03Miami shopping starting pitcher Jacob Turner
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Marlins are shopping starting pitcher Jacob Turner.
The Marlins have starting pitching depth and long-term needs at second base and first base, so they're trying to do some roster shifting. Turner, a first-round pick (ninth overall) in 2009, posted a 3.74 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 118 innings last season for Miami. A trade of Turner would clear the way for an early-season promotion of Marlins top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney.

Tue Mar 18 201416:12Jacob Turner goes five in win over Astros
Jacob Turner pitched five innings and held the Astros to one run and two hits in a victory Tuesday.
Turner was very shaky in his first couple of starts, but he's showed definite progress his last two times out. His three strikeouts today were one more than he had totaled in his 8 1/3 previous innings this spring.

Thu Mar 13 201416:28Jacob Turner goes four innings in win
Facing his former team, Jacob Turner allowed two runs -- one earned -- in four innings Thursday in the Marlins' 4-2 win over the Tigers.
Turner was better today than last time out against the Braves, though he wasn't exactly stellar; he went without a strikeout and he had a hit batter and a wild pitch to go along with his one walk. Still, Turner doesn't need to win a rotation spot this spring, he only needs not lose it.

Sat Mar 8 201417:03Jacob Turner gives up two runs
Jacob Turner allowed two runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings Saturday against the Braves.
It's hard to believe he got out of it allowing just two runs. He also walked a batter, and he failed to record a strikeout. Turner had a rotation spot last spring and threw it away with a poor March before bouncing back later. It'd be a shame if the same thing happened this year.

Thu Oct 31 201315:49Marlins exercise $1M option on Jacob Turner
Marlins exercised RHP Jacob Turner's $1 million club option for the 2014 season.
It was an easy call for the Miami front office. Turner, 22, has a 3.64 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 106/63 K/BB ratio in 160 2/3 innings since joining the Marlins via trade from the Tigers. He should have a bright future ahead.

Fri Sep 20 201321:40Turner charged iwth five runs in loss to Nats
Jacob Turner was touched up for five runs over 5 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Nationals.
Turner held the Nationals in check until he unraveled in the sixth. He gave up seven hits and two walks in the loss and has now failed to complete six innings in eight straight starts. The 22-year-old has likely hit a wall late in the season. He'll complete his year with a start against the Phillies next week at home.

Sun Aug 25 201316:57Turner allows four runs in no-decision
Jacob Turner allowed four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.
He struck out one and walked one. Turner hasn't exceeded six innings pitched in an August outing and he's scuffled to an 0-2 record and 4.29 ERA over 26 2/3 frames this month. The earned run average could have been worse, but he's danced around 31 hits and 17 walks. The young right-hander may be wearing down and he doesn't make for a good start on Saturday in Atlanta.

Tue Aug 20 201323:37Turner dances around 10 hits in no-decision
Jacob Turner allowed four runs -- three earned -- on 10 hits in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
It's the second straight start in which Turner has performed a magic act to escape without extensive damage. After walking six in his last outing, Turner gave up five walks to go with the 10 hits on Tuesday while failing to strike out a batter. He was aided by three double plays turned by his defense to limit the damage to just three earned runs. He's got the Rockies in his next start on Sunday.
