Fri Sep 9 201122:20Bay continues hot streak, doubles twice
Jason Bay doubled twice in four at bats and added an RBI in Friday's victory over the Cubs.
Bay has been on a mini rampage lately, hitting safely in his last eight games, mashing three home runs and driving in 10. It's been an ugly season for the mega-bust, but at least he's giving fantasy owners some playoff-push value.

Thu Sep 8 201119:28Jason Bay hits fourth career grand slam
Jason Bay hit his fourth career grand slam Thursday off the Braves' Mike Minor.
He also singled in the game. Bay has three homers in his last six games, giving him as many homers already in September that he's had in any month this season. It's too late for him to salvage his year, but at least an encouraging finish would give him something to build on.

Mon Sep 5 201122:16Bay homers, but Mets lose
Jason Bay went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in New York's loss to the Marlins on Monday evening.
Bay's second home run in three games came with the Mets trailing 9-1 in the ninth inning. Now the owner of a .233/.315/.351 triple slash on the season, Bay is just 9-for-68 (.132) over his past 18 games.

Wed Aug 31 201122:09Bay closes out horrid August with three hits
Jason Bay went 3-for-4 with a double and his 44th RBI in New York's win over the Marlins on Wednesday.
The multi-hit effort was Bay's first in 13 games. Now batting .234 on the season, he'll finish August with a .221 mark. It would appear $16 million doesn't go as far as it used to.

Wed Aug 31 201110:06Mets could move Bay to center field
Andy Martino of the New York Daily News was told by a "well-place front office source" that Jason Bay could be moved to center field next season.
It's one of many ideas being kicked around by the Mets, but we don't expect it to come to fruition. It's bad enough that they would have Bay in center field under this scenario, but with Daniel Murphy in left and Lucas Duda in right, they could have the worst defensive outfield in baseball. Angel Pagan hasn't exactly impressed the new front office, but he remains their best option in center field for 2012. Look for him to stay.

Fri Aug 19 201115:27Slumping Bay gets the night off
Jason Bay is not in the Mets' Friday evening lineup.
Mired in a 0-for-20 slump, Bay will be spelled by Jason Pridie. Bay will most likely be back in the lineup on Saturday, but it wouldn't be stunning if manager Terry Collins opted to give him two days of rest.

Mon Aug 15 201112:58Jason Bay clears waivers
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that Mets outfielder Jason Bay has cleared waivers.
Chris Capuano, D.J. Carrasco, Willie Harris and Angel Pagan have also passed through the waiver process unclaimed. All five Mets can now be shopped as trade bait around the league. It remains doubtful, however, that a swap will ultimately take place.

Mon Aug 1 201122:39Bay hits rare home run in loss
Jason Bay hit a solo home run in New York's loss to the Marlins on Monday evening.
The bomb was Bay's first since he went deep twice on July 5 (20 games). Still the owner of more stolen bases (nine) than home runs (seven) on the season, you could say it doesn't appear Bay's power is ever coming back.

Sat Jul 30 201100:55Bay has two hits, RBI in win over Nats
Jason Bay went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in an 8-5 win over the Nationals on Friday night.
After going 186 at-bats without a double, Bay has collective four of them in the last five games. It's a good sign, but he'll need to show more consistency before being recommended in mixed leagues again.

Thu Jul 28 201116:52Jason Bay drives in three runs in victory
Jason Bay went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI as the Mets edged the Reds 10-9 on Thursday.
You read that right: two doubles. Bay went 51 games without one before finally collecting his fifth double Monday. Now he's all of the way up to seven for the season. Maybe it's a start, though it's worth noting that after he had a two-homer game on July 5, he went 1-for-22 in his next six games.

Sat Jul 23 201114:38Jason Bay returns to lineup
Jason Bay is back in the Mets' lineup Saturday.
He missed the previous two contests with a sore right hamstring. Bay said he could have played Friday, but he wanted to give the hammy one more day just to be sure. The disappointing outfielder is hitting just .196/.292/.304 in July.

Sat Jul 23 201109:12Jason Bay to return Saturday
Jason Bay (hamstring) plans to return to the lineup Saturday.
Bay has missed the last two games with a sore right hammy. "He said he thought he could play [yesterday], but probably not bust it all out," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "He thought [tonight] would be better and he said for sure [tomorrow] would be 100 percent." Collins also said Bay isn't a candidate to fall into a platoon situation. "Jason Bay is going to break out of it," the manager proclaimed.

Jason Bay (hamstring) is out of the Mets' lineup for the second straight day Friday.
Bay won't require a stint on the disabled list, but he did request another day to rest his right hamstring. Lucas Duda will make the start in left field Friday and bat seventh against right-hander Chris Volstad.

Wed Jul 20 201120:21Jason Bay exits game with tight hamstring
Jason Bay had to be pulled from Wednesday's game in the fourth inning due to a tight right hamstring.
Bay grounded out in his lone plate appearance, though it's not clear if he suffered the injury while batting or in the field, nor is it clear how severe it might be. We'll update his status when more is known. Willie Harris replaced Bay in left field.
