Thu Dec 23 201017:40Rangers, Rhodes agree to one-year contract
Steve Phillips of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Rangers have reached a one-year deal with reliever Arthur Rhodes.
The contract, according to Phillips, will also contain a vesting option for the 2012 season. The left-handed Rhodes posted a fantastic 2.29 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 69 relief appearances for the Reds this past year and should do just as well as a left-handed specialist and setup man in Texas. The guy turned 41 on October 24, but he still has the goods.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Rangers "are in talks" to acquire free agent reliever Arthur Rhodes.
Rhodes expressed interest in returning to Cincinnati for another year and the Reds have said publicly that they want him back, but the two sides have not been able to agree on a contract. Now it appears as though Texas may swoop in and grab the 41-year-old reliever, who posted a stellar 2.29 ERA and 50/18 K/BB ratio over 55 innings this past season in Cincy.

Mon Oct 11 201017:33Rhodes would like to return to Reds in '11
Arthur Rhodes said Monday that he would like to return to the Reds next season.
"I already told them that I want to come back, that I'd love to come back," said Rhodes. "I've had a wonderful time here. I've enjoyed myself. We'll see what happens in the offseason." Rhodes, who turns 41 later this month, posted a 2.29 ERA and 50/18 K/BB ratio over 69 appearances this season and earned his first All-Star nod in July. He was bothered by plantar fasciitis in his right foot for most of the season, but has no plans to undergo surgery. It's worth noting that the veteran left-hander projects to be a Type A free agent this winter. If the Reds offer him arbitration only to see him sign elsewhere, they would receive draft pick compensation.

Thu Sep 30 201011:23Rhodes still dealing with sore foot
Reds manager Dusty Baker said he hopes to get Arthur Rhodes (foot) some more work before the regular season is over.
"We need to get Arthur on the mound," said Baker. "We need to get him on the mound a couple of more times before we start here, to make sure he's sharp, but we have to protect that foot." Rhodes has been dealing with a sore right foot for most of the season -- and has been limited to just seven appearances this month -- but Baker said the veteran left-hander is getting some new orthotics and having some shoes specially made in order to deal with the pain. Rhodes and Aroldis Chapman are set to be the club's top two lefty arms out of the bullpen during the postseason.
