Mon Mar 7 201110:01Boggs (back) throws successful bullpener
Mitchell Boggs (back) threw a successful bullpen session Monday morning in Cardinals camp.
Boggs "let it loose," according to Brian Stull of St. Louis' 101 ESPN. The hard-throwing reliever should be back to appearing in games within the next couple of days. He told reporters after Monday's bullpen session that his once-strained lower back muscle felt "great."

Wed Mar 2 201113:05Boggs (back) expects to pitch soon
Mitchell Boggs (back) expects to pitch within the next week.
Boggs suffered a lower back strain during a relief appearance Tuesday, but thinks he'll be back soon. "It's a little more stiff this morning," said Boggs. "But it's not something to have to worry about. You just want to make sure you don't do something to it that takes you into the season." While Boggs is optimistic about returning soon, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa wouldn't provide any timetable.

Tue Mar 1 201116:13Boggs says back injury no big deal
Mitchell Boggs said the back injury he suffered Tuesday wasn't as bad as it looked and he thinks he'll only need a couple days off.
The Cardinals dodged a couple bullets Tuesday, as Boggs' and Chris Carpenter's injuries weren't as bad as they certainly could have been. Boggs had a nice first full season as a reliever in 2010 and will be used as a setup man once again in 2011.

Tue Mar 1 201114:36Mitchell Boggs has lower back strain
Mitchell Boggs has been diagnosed with a muscle strain in his lower back.
Boggs suffered the injury while making a relief appearance in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game. Back strains can be tricky and the Cardinals will likely have him rest for the next couple of weeks to be safe. The 27-year-old will serve as a setup man once he's healthy.

Thu Apr 15 201016:28Cards' Boggs gets hit in relief
Mitchell Boggs gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning out of the pen Thursday against the Astros.
That's like 14 runs to an average team. The Astros had scored fewer than three runs in six of their eight games this season. Boggs, though, allowed hits to four of the six batters he faced. The Cardinals like the way his velocity has increased since a move to relief, but he's no lock to stick in their pen all season long.
