Eric Young Jr. went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases in Sunday's win over the Reds.
It was a good statement for more playing time, as this was Young's first start of the month. He's now managed 21 steals for the season despite garnering just 142 at-bats, making him a viable option for those in deeper leagues in need of speed.

Rockies recalled INF-OF Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
He'll replace the injured Carlos Gonzalez on the active roster. It's not clear where he'll fit in, but it's possible he could get a look in left field. The speedy 26-year-old batted .229/.255/.229 batting line over 55 plate appearances with the Rockies earlier this season.

Rockies optioned INF-OF Eric Young Jr. to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
An expected move after the acquisition of Mark Ellis. Young provided a spark upon his initial call-up, but he heads back to the minors with a lowly .229/.255/.229 batting line over 55 plate appearances. The 26-year-old is expected to play the outfield at Triple-A.

Sat May 28 201111:16Eric Young Jr. will play as long as he hits
Eric Young Jr. started in center field and led off Friday and is expected to continue to get playing time as long as he hits.
Young went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the loss to the Cardinals. Though he started in center field Friday, he's also expected to play some right field and also could be mixed in at second base. "He's here to try to create some type of spark for our offense," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "I'm really hopeful that E.Y. Jr. picks up where he's been in different stints here, where he's provided that spark for the club and creates some intriguing decision-making for us from day to day." Young hasn't hit much at the big league level yet, but his speed potential makes him worthy of a pick-up in deeper mixed leagues.

Fri May 27 201117:50Eric Young Jr. playing CF Friday for Rockies
Eric Young Jr. is leading off and playing center field Friday against the Cardinals.
Very interesting. Young was primarily playing center field with Triple-A Colorado Springs this season, so he could be a legitimate threat to Dexter Fowler's playing time. Of course, Young has a .245/.308/.293 batting line over his first 250 major league plate appearance, so the jury's still out as to whether he can be an everyday player. Still, his blazing speed makes him worthy of a pickup in NL-only and deeper mixed formats.

Fri May 27 201113:33Eric Young Jr. called up
Rockies recalled INF/OF Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
He's taking the roster spot of Jose Lopez, who has been designated for assignment. Young was batting a blistering .363 with 17 steals while being caught just once at Colorado Springs before the recall. He should see some playing time both at second base and in the outfield and is worthy of a pickup in deeper leagues for those in need of speed.

Sat Mar 12 201114:32Scouts eying Eric Young Jr.?
The Denver Post's Troy Renck reports that there were a few scouts paying close attention to Eric Young Jr. (leg) Saturday.
Young's name was linked with the Rangers in the Michael Young trade rumors, but it's not clear if they were one of the teams eying him Saturday. Renck points out that the Rockies have the depth at second base to where they could afford to move him, but they've also given no indication they intend to do so. Young is making his Cactus League debut Saturday after dealing with soreness in his previously fractured right tibia.

Fri Feb 25 201120:19Young still dealing with stress fracture
Eric Young Jr. will not be available for Saturday's Cactus League opener, as he's still dealing with issues related to a stress fracture in his right tibia.
The injury forced the Rockies to shut Young down late last season and may or may not have kept them from dealing him for Michael Young last month. It's not clear how long Young might be sidelined or what drills he's been able to perform to this point. He's slated to open the year as a backup to Jose Lopez at second base.

Wed Feb 2 201111:56Eric Young denies taking physical for Rangers
Eric Young Jr. said via his Twitter account Tuesday night that he took a regular team physical for the Rockies along with the rest of his teammates during FanFest, not as part of trade talks with the Rangers.
This was in response to a report by Tracy Ringolsby of FOXSports.com which indicated that Young underwent a physical as part of a potential trade for Michael Young. Ringolsby reported that talks were shelved when the Rangers brought up the stress fracture in Young's right shin. Judging by Young's comments, it sounds like the two sides weren't all that close to a deal in the first place.

Tue Sep 28 201018:29Rox shut down Young due to shin injury
Eric Young Jr. has been shut down for the rest of the season due to pain in his right shin.
Bad news for fantasy owners who are chasing after steals, but the Rockies are essentially out of things at this point. He will soon undergo an MRI in order to determine the severity of the injury. Young batted .244/.312/.285 with eight RBI, 26 runs scored and 17 stolen bases over 172 at-bats with the Rockies this season and should compete for the second base job next spring.
