Wed Jul 31 201311:49Pirates, Red Sox interested in Luke Gregerson
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Pirates and Red Sox are among the teams interested in Padres' reliever Luke Gregerson.
ESPN's Jayson Stark reported earlier today that the Padres are more likely to move Joe Thatcher than Gregerson, but that hasn't stopped teams from trying. The 29-year-old has a 2.91 ERA and 39/9 K/BB ratio over 43 1/3 innings this season. He remains under team control through 2014.

Tue Jul 30 201318:39Padres unlikely to deal Gregerson, Thatcher
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Padres would "have to be inspired by an offer" to trade either Luke Gregerson or Joe Thatcher.
It could just be posturing, as both relievers have seemed very available up to this point. Both Gregerson (who's making $3.2 million this season) and Thatcher (who's making $1.35 million this season) will be arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter.

Tue Jul 30 201302:10Gregerson earns fifth win, strikes out two
Luke Gregerson struck out a pair in a scoreless ninth inning and earned the victory Monday against the Reds.
For owners speculating on saves, Gregerson isn't a bad two-day gamble if he's available on your league's waiver wire. If San Diego ships closer Huston Street out of town prior to Wednesday night, Gregerson would be in line to take over the ninth inning. Of course, Gregerson himself is on the trading block and San Diego has received plenty of interest. The 29-year-old right hander has a 2.91 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 47 appearances and is arbitration eligible for the final time this offseason.

Sun Jul 28 201318:07Teams expect Luke Gregerson to be traded
CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that teams involved in the market for relievers expect Luke Gregerson to be traded.
The Padres have been "getting a lot of hits" on Gregerson and he's considered a strong candidate to be dealt prior to Wednesday's non-waiver trade deadline. The 29-year-old right hander has a 2.98 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 46 appearances and is arbitration eligible for the final time this offseason. The Tigers are believed to have interest in Gregerson, while the Red Sox, Dodgers, Braves and Diamondbacks are expected to be looking for relief help.

Fri Jul 26 201312:51Luke Gregerson drawing plenty of interest
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Padres are "getting a lot of hits" on Luke Gregerson.
Heyman adds that the Pads are getting more calls on Gregerson than they are on Huston Street. That's no surprise given that Gregerson has performed better in recent seasons, is cheaper and isn't injury-prone. The Tigers are one team known to have interest in the San Diego setup man.

Wed Jul 24 201300:02Tigers interested in Luke Gregerson
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Tigers are "showing continued interest" in Luke Gregerson.
With the way Joaquin Benoit has pitched, it seems likely that the Tigers would be looking at Gregerson as a potential setup man. The Padres reliever is having another terrific year, posting a 2.85 ERA and 36/8 K/BB ratio over 41 innings this season.

Luke Gregerson gave up hits to all four Giants he faced and took a blown save and a loss on Wednesday.

Wed Jun 12 201318:48Luke Gregerson lifted from save chance
Luke Gregerson was pulled out of a save opportunity Wednesday after giving up two singles and a run against the Braves.
The Padres had a couple of potential double play balls that they couldn't turn behind Gregerson, settling for one out on each, and with the two outs and a man on, they decided to go get lefty Tom Layne to face Jason Heyward. Another singled followed, but Nick Vincent took over from there and struck out Justin Upton to end the game. It seems the Padres are looking at a closer-by-committee until Huston Street returns. Gregerson might still be the top option in the ninth, but Dale Thayer is also a possibility for saves.

Luke Gregerson got a one-out save Tuesday, striking out the only Brave he faced in the ninth.
Gregerson didn't get to start the ninth tonight after his ugly blown save Sunday, but he did improve to 3-for-4 in save chances since Huston Street went down. Even after allowing three runs on Sunday, his ERA stands at 1.76.

Sun Jun 2 201301:25Luke Gregerson records first save
Luke Gregerson picked up a save despite giving up a run and three hits in the ninth Saturday against the Jays.
Gregerson made the Padres nervous in his first save chance with Huston Street on the DL, but he was able to get Emilio Bonifacio to line out and Jose Bautista to ground out to strand the tying run on second and end the game. He's expected to keep getting save chances while Street is out.

Fri May 3 201313:00Luke Gregerson off to good start
Luke Gregerson holds a 1.35 ERA and 0.75 WHIP over his first 13 appearances this season.
Gregerson has struck out just nine over 13 1/3 innings, but his strikeout rate will climb. One of the better setup men in the game, Gregerson and his nasty slider will continue to set up for Huston Street and would slide into the closer role if Street is injured or traded.

Fri Jan 18 201318:41Gregerson files for $3.75M in arbitration
Luke Gregerson requested $3.75 million and was offered $2.875 million from the Padres when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday.
Gregerson is arbitration-eligible for the second time after he earned $1.55 million last season while posting a 2.39 ERA and 72/21 K/BB ratio over 71 2/3 innings. Look for the two sides to settle somewhere in the neighborhood of the $3.31 million midpoint.

Thu Oct 4 201200:18Luke Gregerson works perfect frame
Luke Gregerson picked up his ninth save in Wednesday's 7-6, season-ending win over the Brewers, notching two strikeouts in a perfect inning of work.
Arbitration eligible this offseason, Gregerson finishes 2012 the owner of a 2.39 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 72/21 K/BB ratio in 71 2/3 innings across 77 appearances. Those numbers would be good enough to close for a lot of teams, but with Huston Street under contract through 2014, Gregerson will return to a setup role if he's brought back this winter.

Wed Sep 12 201221:00Gregerson gets another save, Pads sweep STL
Luke Gregerson notched his second save in as many games Wednesday in the Padres' 3-2 defeat of the Cardinals.
Gregerson allowed a leadoff double to Allen Craig to open the ninth inning, but the threat basically stopped there. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny had Yadier Molina bunt, then David Freese and Skip Schumaker hit into groundouts. It was a complete botch job by the St. Louis skipper and gave the Padres an unlikely three-game sweep. Gregerson will continue to hold fantasy value until Huston Street (calf) returns.

Tue Sep 4 201200:09Luke Gregerson blows save
Luke Gregerson suffered a blown save Monday against the Dodgers when he served up a solo homer to Andre Ethier.
Gregerson came on in the eighth and got Matt Kemp to ground out. He then struck out Hanley Ramirez to start off the ninth before Ethier's blast. It's the second straight save chance where he's been taken deep, though this is his first blown save since taking over the ninth inning. We anticipate him keeping the job until Huston Street returns.

Sat Sep 1 201201:40Luke Gregerson notches third save
Luke Gregerson allowed a solo homer to Andrew Brown on Friday, but managed to preserve a Padres victory, notching his third save of the season.
He has clearly supplanted Dale Thayer as the go-to option for saves with Huston Street on the DL. Unfortunately for fantasy owners who have gambled on him, Street is expected to return to the active roster on Sunday.

Tue Aug 28 201200:47Luke Gregerson earns another save for Pads
Luke Gregerson notched his second save in two days with a scoreless ninth Monday against the Braves.
Gregerson should have been closing over Dale Thayer all along. He has a 2.28 ERA in 59 1/3 innings this season.

Luke Gregerson earned his first save of the season in Sunday's victory over the Diamondbacks.
Gregerson struck out two in an easy 1 1/3 innings. The right-hander has a 2.31 ERA and 61/16 K/BB ratio in 61 appearances (58 1/3 total frames) this season, and could vulture a few more saves before Huston Street makes his way back from a calf injury.
