Sat Jul 30 201111:46Report: Red Sox still considering Erik Bedard
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are still considering Erik Bedard despite his poor start Friday.
Cafardo says the Sox are "juggling three or four possibilities." Bedard's first outing in his return from the DL certainly wasn't ideal, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker for him not being traded. His stuff looked fine, so as long as he's healthy, any team acquiring him should expect his command to eventually improve.

Fri Jul 29 201118:09Mariners activate Bedard (knee) from DL
Mariners activated LHP Erik Bedard from the 15-day disabled list.
As expected, he'll return from the disabled list to start Friday night against the Rays. The Red Sox and Yankees will reportedly have scouts in attendance, so there's still a chance he'll be dealt before Sunday's deadline. The 32-year-old left-hander had a 3.00 ERA and 85/26 K/BB ratio over 15 starts before going on the disabled list with a sprained left knee at the end of June.

Thu Jul 28 201114:07M's haven't ruled out re-signing Bedard
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Mariners haven't ruled out re-signing Erik Bedard.
The Mariners like Bedard and the veteran left-hander loves Seattle, but that doesn't meant he still can't be traded. Both the Red Sox and Yankees are sending scouts to his first start back from the disabled list on Friday night. It's always possible that he could finish the season with a contender and re-sign with the Mariners this winter.

Thu Jul 28 201111:25Report: Red Sox 'all over' Erik Bedard
A source tells Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com that the Red Sox are "all over" Mariners' left-hander Erik Bedard.
This may mean nothing, but one possible hint that the two clubs are talking is that the Mariners had two scouts watching Boston's Triple A affiliate on Wednesday night and one watching their Double-A squad. Bedard hasn't pitched since June 27 due to a sprained left knee, but both the Red Sox and Yankees plan to send scouts for his return Friday night against the Rays. The veteran left-hander had a 3.00 ERA and 85/26 K/BB ratio over 15 starts before the injury. He would be a nice gamble for the Red Sox, especially in light of their concerns about Clay Buchholz.

Tue Jul 26 201112:55BoSox, Tigers interested in M's lefty Bedard
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Red Sox and Tigers have expressed interest in Erik Bedard.
Heyman also claims that "many, many" other teams are intrigued. Bedard has been on the disabled list since June with a knee problem, but the veteran left-hander had a 3.00 ERA and 85/26 K/BB ratio in 15 starts before the injury. He'll get one final audition start Friday against the Rays before Sunday's non-waiver trade deadline.

Mon Jul 25 201118:15Bedard (knee) set for Friday return from DL
Erik Bedard (knee) is scheduled to return from the disabled list Friday night against the Rays.
Bedard was cleared to return after throwing 40 pitches in a simulated game Saturday. The oft-injured left-hander has been sidelined since the end of June with a sprained right knee. He'll be on a pitch-count Friday, so potential suitors won't get much of a chance to look at him before the trade deadline.

Sat Jul 23 201116:24Bedard throws 40-pitch simulated game
Erik Bedard (knee) threw 40 pitches Saturday in a simulated game and reported no issues.
Bedard is expected to return to the Mariners' starting rotation during next weekend's series against the Rays. He'll get just one start before being shopped at the July 31 trade deadline. The veteran left-hander had a 3.00 ERA and 85/26 K/BB ratio through 15 outings.

Fri Jul 22 201117:48Bedard (knee) to throw sim. game Saturday
Erik Bedard (knee) is slated to throw two innings in a simulated game Saturday.
He'll throw approximately 40-45 pitches. Assuming all goes well, he'll likely make a start during a series against the Rays from July 29-31. Bedard figured to be one of the M's best trade chips at the deadline, but he now has a limited time to impress potential suitors.

Wed Jul 20 201109:50Bedard's return could be pushed back
Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Tuesday that Erik Bedard (knee) might need to throw a simulated game following Wednesday's scheduled bullpen session.
This would take him out of the mix to start this weekend against the Red Sox, a series the Mariners have targeted for over a week now. "Realistically, yeah," said Wedge. "If he throws a bullpen and then has to throw a simulated game, we'll probably push him back a little bit, yeah." If Bedard's return is pushed back to next week, he will likely only get one start before the trade deadline.

Sun Jul 17 201115:00Erik Bedard throws bullpen session
Erik Bedard (knee) threw a successful bullpen session Sunday.
The left-hander will have one more bullpen session, and if it goes well, Bedard will be re-inserted into the Mariners rotation during their upcoming road trip. The M's had previously targeted Bedard's return for the July 22-24 series against the Red Sox, and it would have to be at the end of that series, at the earliest, since he'll throw one more bullpen.

Sun Jul 10 201114:07Erik Bedard to return July 22-24?
Erik Bedard (knee) is hoping to rejoin the Mariners rotation for the July 22-24 series against the Red Sox.
He's been sidelined since late June with a sprained knee. It's unclear if he'll need any rehab starts before returning. Bedard is a candidate to be traded at the deadline.

Wed Jun 29 201119:06Erik Bedard out only 15 days
Mariners manager Eric Wedge said he doesn't think Erik Bedard (knee) will need much more than the minimum amount of time on the disabled list.
That's good to hear. It sounds like a precautionary move in placing Bedard on the DL, but the Mariners are wise to play it safe with the left-hander, as the last thing he needs is to compensate for his bum knee and wind up with an arm injury. Bedard should be back around the All-Star break.

Wed Jun 29 201115:13Bedard placed on DL with sprained knee
Mariners placed LHP Erik Bedard on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 28, with a sprained left knee.
At least it's not his arm. Bedard has been a pleasant surprise this season, posting a 3.00 ERA and 85/26 K/BB ratio through 15 starts, so hopefully he'll be healthy and ready to go immediately following the All-Star break.

Tue Jun 28 201105:03Bedard solid in loss
Erik Bedard lost another tough one on Monday, yielding three runs on only four hits in seven full innings, while adding five strikeouts and only one walk.
Two of the runs came in his last inning of work as he approached 100 pitches. Despite this setback, Bedard has been close to brilliant for much of this season, giving up three or fewer runs in 12 consecutive starts. Yet he has garnered only four wins during this stretch. In his 15 starts on the season, only three times has Seattle's offense mustered more than four runs. His 3.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP prove that he is as good as ever. Unfortunately for him, the Mariners' hitters are not.

Wed Jun 22 201121:59Erik Bedard a hard-luck loser
Erik Bedard was a hard-luck loser on Wednesday night against the Nationals, allowing just two unearned runs in six innings of work.
Bedard was dominant, allowing just three hits and two walks while fanning 10. The double-digit strikeout effort was his first since May 17, 2008. Now the owner of a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 80/25 K/BB ratio, Bedard's comeback has been much more robust than could have reasonably been expected before the season.

Erik Bedard completely stymied the Angels on Wednesday evening, allowing just three hits in seven scoreless innings of work in a 3-1 Mariners victory.
He struck out five and walked none in improving to 4-4 on the season. The stellar effort lowers Bedard's ERA and WHIP to 3.16 and 1.17, respectively, through 77 innings of work. The owner of a 70/23 K/BB ratio, he'll get the Nationals his next time out.

Sun Jun 5 201120:22Bedard goes seven strong in no-decision
Erik Bedard yielded three earned runs over seven innings as part of a no-decision against the Rays Sunday.
Bedard was really sharp, striking out seven and walking none while giving up eight hits. It's another impressive outing for the resurgent Bedard, who is riding a streak of seven straight quality starts. Even with a road start in Detroit up next, we'd feel good about using Bedard in most formats.

Sat May 21 201111:48Erik Bedard is 'best he's been in years'
A scout told MLB Network's Peter Gammons that Erik Bedard looks the "best I've seen him in years."
"Very good," the scout told Gammons. "Very good curveball. Best I've seen him in years." In fairness, the scout hasn't seen Bedard much at all in years because the left has been injured, but the point remains. Bedard has been terrific after a rough start, posting a 1.33 ERA and 24/6 K/BB ratio over his last four outings. As Gammons points out, the M's could have a nice trade chip at the deadline if Bedard stays healthy and keeps this up.

Sat May 21 201100:57Erik Bedard strikes out nine in win
Erik Bedard dominated the Padres on Friday, pitching eight scoreless innings and striking out nine for his second victory.
Bedard allowed just three hits in the 92-pitch gem. Since opening the season 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, he's allowed a four runs over 27 innings in his last four starts. An injury could always be right around the corner, but expect him to keep providing value in mixed leagues for as long as he stays healthy.

Wed May 4 201101:31Erik Bedard strong for seven innings
Erik Bedard took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed two runs over seven innings Tuesday against the Rangers.
Bedard actually lost the shutout in the first, as Adrian Beltre scored on a Chone Figgins error. He allowed just two hits on the night, though, and he's now turned in back-to-back encouraging outings. Stash him away if he was dropped in your mixed league.
