Miguel Gonzalez was diagnosed with a Grade 1 groin sprain, an injury that forced from Sunday's start against the Blue Jays after just 5 1/3 innings.
Gonzalez noted after the game that it's the first time he's ever dealt with a groin injury of any type, and remained optimistic that he'd be able to make his next turn in the rotation. O's manager Buck Showalter didn't could as confident though, noting that Gonzalez could be skipped when they battle the Rays in Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Thu Sep 5 201321:50Miguel Gonzalez fans six White Sox in win
Miguel Gonzalez beat the White Sox by allowing one run in seven innings and striking out six on Thursday.
It was just the White Sox, but it was still good to see Gonzalez show some improvement. His ERA had jumped from 3.34 on July 20 to 4.11 coming into tonight. He gave up seven runs in four innings and struck out none in a loss to the Yankees next time out. He'll get the Yankees again in his next start, and given the Orioles' tough schedule the rest of the way, he seems like a long shot to contribute in mixed leagues this month.

Tue Aug 20 201323:53Miguel Gonzalez struggles versus Rays
Miguel Gonzalez managed to allow three runs -- two earned -- despite giving up eight hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.
Gonzalez got some extra rest before the outing, but it didn't show. The right-hander failed to make it through the sixth inning for just the third time in his last 13 starts. While he still has a solid 3.81 ERA and 1.28 WHIP this season, we'd be nervous about using him in Boston next week.

Miguel Gonzalez gave up just one run in six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Yankees.
Gonzalez wasn't at his best, as he tied a season-high with five walks, but he managed to keep the damage to a minimum. However, Jim Johnson blew a save in the bottom of the ninth to cost him the win. This was Gonzalez's sixth straight quality start, so he continues to have value as a backend starter in mixed fantasy leagues. He'll carry a 3.63 ERA into a start against the Rangers next week.
