Peavy (3-12) picked up his third win of the season Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing two runs while scattering 10 hits and striking out eight in seven innings.
Peavy earned back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The 33-year-old has been pretty sold for the Giants, giving them quality starts in three out of five turns with a 3.63 ERA. Peavy faces the Rockies at home on Monday.

Peavy turned in one of his better outings of the season Wednesday, holding the White Sox to one run over seven innings to pick up his second win of the season.
Peavy's won-loss record still sits at 2-12 due both to his poor performance and a lack of run support, and for a while Wednesday, it looked like he could be headed for his 13th loss. The Giants trailed 1-0 after Peavy finished his final inning, but his mates rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the frame, due in large part to a controversial overturned call at the plate that went in the home team's favor. The win marked Peavy's first since Apr. 25, when he was still a member of the Red Sox.

Peavy dropped to 0-3 with the Giants -- and 1-11 on the year -- on Thursday, allowing three runs on nine hits and three walks against the Brewers.
Peavy wasn't having a very good year with the Red Sox, and moving to the National League hasn't made him any more consistent. He's a very risky roll in any fantasy league at this point. Peavy will try to avoid taking his 12th loss Tuesday at home against the White Sox.

Peavy had a perfect game until the seventh inning Saturday when the Mets jumped on him for four runs, ultimately giving him the loss.
Peavy and rookie Jacob DeGrom both held no-hitters through the first six innings of the game, but it was Peavy who surrendered the first four runs, who lost his 11th decision in a row.
Sun Jul 27 201423:23Peavy posts quality start in Giants debut
Jake Peavy turned in a quality start in his Giants debut on Sunday but wound up as the losing pitcher after allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits over his six innings of work.
Peavy punched out five on the evening while walking two. His defense, specifically Dan Uggla and Michael Morse, didn't do him any favors in this one. The Dodgers broke things open with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI triple by Carl Crawford. Peavy will look to get in the win column when he takes on the Mets in New York on Saturday.

Sat Jul 26 201412:57Giants acquire Jake Peavy from Red Sox
Giants acquired RHP Jake Peavy and cash considerations from the Red Sox for LHP Edwin Escobar and RHP Heath Hembree.
Peavy is scheduled to make his Giants debut on Sunday when he toes the slab against the Dodgers. While he struggled through his first 20 starts on the season (4.72 ERA, 1.43 WHIP), he should certainly benefit from a return to the National League West and is worth a look if available in mixed leagues.

Sat Jul 26 201411:55Giants to acquire Jake Peavy from Red Sox
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Giants have agreed to a deal to acquire Jake Peavy from the Red Sox.
The Red Sox are rumored to be receiving a pair of minor league pitchers back in the trade. The veteran right-hander is in the midst of a disappointing season, posting a 1-9 record, 4.72 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 100/46 K/BB ratio through his first 20 starts. A return to the National League should be a nice boost to his fantasy value.

Sat Jul 26 201411:11Giants in discussions with Red Sox for Peavy
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Giants are the team in discussions with the Red Sox about acquiring Jake Peavy.
Jen Royle of the Boston Herald reported earlier that a National League club was close to acquiring the Boston right-hander, and the destination now appears to be known. With the continued uncertainty on the health of Matt Cain, Peavy would be a nice addition for rotation depth. His fantasy value would also increase with a return to the National League.

Sat Jul 26 201410:52Report: NL team close to acquiring Jake Peavy
According to Jen Royle of the Boston Herald, an unnamed National League team is close to acquiring Jake Peavy from the Red Sox.
The only known NL squad rumored to have serious interest in Peavy, the Cardinals, are not believed to be the suitor in this potential deal. While nothing appears imminent, it's a situation worth monitoring. Brandon Workman would likely return to the Red Sox rotation in the event Peavy is dealt.

Tue Jul 22 201422:30Peavy hit hard by the Blue Jays, falls to 1-9
Jake Peavy was hit hard by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing five runs over six innings in a loss, which brought his record to a disappointing 1-9.
Peavy had been throwing the ball better over his last three starts, but the buck stopped with the Blue Jays, who belted two home runs and two doubles, accounting for half of the eight hits surrendered by the right-hander. Peavy also walked three and struck out seven. He now has a 4.72 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and a 100/46 K/BB ratio. He'll try to bounce back against the surging Rays on the road on Sunday.

Mon Jul 21 201422:54Jake Peavy on 'back burner' for Cardinals
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Jake Peavy "is still on the Cardinals' back burner."
Multiple outlets reported earlier this month the Cards' interest in Peavy and it even looked at one point like a deal might get done quickly. At this point, though, it appears he might be a backup plan for St. Louis. Peavy has just a 4.59 ERA this season but has made three straight quality starts.

Wed Jul 9 201414:10Angels could have interest in Jake Peavy
Jen Royle of the Boston Herald reports that the Angels are a "potential suitor" for Jake Peavy.
Royle says that the Halos could be searching for a starter due to Jered Weaver's back issue. It doesn't seem like Weaver will be out long, but the Angels nevertheless would make some sense as a landing spot for the veteran right-hander. Peavy is also reportedly drawing interest from the Cardinals and Braves.

Tue Jul 8 201419:50Cardinals 'looking for offense,' not Peavy
Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was told by a Cardinals source that the team is "looking for offense" rather than a pitcher like Jake Peavy.
Multiple reports have suggested that the Cardinals are in on Peavy and that a deal could be done quickly, but Goold is hearing otherwise. Goold notes that the Cards have "had an eye on the available pitchers," but "their offensive need is more acute." St. Louis is expecting Joe Kelly (hamstring) to return from the DL Friday and thinks their rotation will be fine, especially if they get Michael Wacha (shoulder) back next month.

Tue Jul 8 201413:57Cards' deal for Peavy could happen quickly
Jayson Stark of ESPN.com hears that a deal sending Jake Peavy to the Cardinals could happen "quick."
The scenario is picking up steam in a hurry, as Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reported late Monday that the Cardinals scouted Peavy's most recent start and Peter Gammons hears that St. Louis wants him for their rotation. The veteran right-hander hasn't pitched particularly well this season, but he could benefit with a return to the National League. The Cardinals could also use the depth given the injuries to Michael Wacha and Jaime Garcia.

Tue Jul 8 201413:05Report: Cardinals want RHP Jake Peavy
Peter Gammons hears that the Cardinals "want" Red Sox right-hander Jake Peavy.
This comes on the heels of a report from Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com, who wrote that the Cardinals were scouting Peavy on Sunday. It's not surprising to hear St. Louis come up as a potential destination, as they were interested in the veteran right-hander before the White Sox traded him to the Red Sox last season. Peavy owns a 4.64 ERA this season and is owed about $7 million the rest of the way, so the Cardinals might not have to give up a top prospect to get him.

Mon Jul 7 201420:06Cardinals scouting righty Jake Peavy
Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reports that the Cardinals were scouting Jake Peavy on Sunday.
They saw him throw a second straight quality start, as Peavy held the Orioles to two runs -- one earned -- over six innings. As Edes notes, the Cards had interest in Peavy at the trade deadline last year before he ended up in Boston. The veteran righty hasn't pitched well this season (4.64 ERA) and is making $14.5 million, so it's doubtful it would take a whole lot to pry him loose.

Sun Jul 6 201420:59Peavy allows two runs in no-decision vs. O's
Jake Peavy allowed two runs -- one earned -- over six innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Sunday.
Peavy allowed six hits and two walks, striking out three on the day. He remains 1-7 with the no-decision, but he lowered his ERA to 4.64 with the good outing. He'll go for his second win of the season at the Astros on Friday.

Mon Jun 30 201422:33Jake Peavy strikes out seven in loss
Jake Peavy dropped to 1-7 after allowing two runs in six innings Monday against the Cubs.
It was another loss for Peavy, but still his best result in a couple of weeks. He struck out seven, and one of the two extra-base hits he allowed probably would have been caught had Jackie Bradley Jr. started in center field rather than Mookie Betts. The solid outing should keep him in the rotation to face the Orioles this weekend.

Wed Jun 25 201401:39SP Peavy coughs up 7 ER in loss to Mariners
Jake Peavy was torched for seven runs in five innings to take a loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.
Peavy allowed eight hits, and we aren't talking soft contact; he was blitzed for four extra-base hits, including two homers, in spacious Safeco Field. Kyle Seager's three-run dinger in the fifth inning was the real back-breaker, putting the Mariners up 6-2, but Mike Zunino followed with a solo job just in case. Peavy has a nice matchup on deck with the Cubs coming to town next week, but, at 1-6 with a 4.93 ERA, you'd have more guts than us if you trotted him out in a mixed league lineup.

Fri Jun 20 201401:09SP Peavy coughs up 3 ER in loss to Athletics
Jake Peavy allowed four runs -- three earned -- on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss against the A'S on Thursday.
Peavy didn't surrender a geyser of runs, but he coughed up a drip of one run apiece in the second, third and fourth innings. By the time his offense chipped in with two runs in the sixth, the game had gotten away from Boston. The veteran struck out four and walked three. Now a disappointing 1-5 with a 4.52 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, Peavy travels to Seattle on Tuesday.
