Thu Apr 21 2011 | 10:29 | Nets looking to rid themselves of Outlaw |
The Nets are looking to trade Travis Outlaw, speculates beat writer Al Iannazzone. |
Outlaw was so bad as a starter this season that he ended up being replaced by guys like Damion James and Sasha Vujacic. The problem is that the ex-Blazer was signed to a five-year, $35 million deal last July. Moving him will be extremely difficult. Outlaw projects as a reserve for the Nets next season. |

Sun Apr 10 2011 | 22:07 | Outlaw throws up an airball in loss |
Travis Outlaw had zero points on 0-of-6 shooting in Sunday's loss to the Raptors. |
Outlaw got 21 minutes off the bench, but this has become an all too familiar story. The Nets should have real concern that the ex-Blazer simply isn't that good. |

Fri Apr 8 2011 | 22:06 | Travis Outlaw hits four treys in loss to NY |
Travis Outlaw had 16 points and four 3-pointers in Friday's ugly loss to the Knicks. |
With the Nets banged up and Avery Johnson pulling the strings, anything's possible for Outlaw down the stretch. Dan Gadzuric started and had four points and four boards, while Brandan Wright had two points and three boards in the loss. |

Fri Apr 8 2011 | 10:30 | Travis Outlaw contract a clear boondoggle |
The Nets are hoping to trade Travis Outlaw this summer, after signing him to a five-year, $35 million contract last offseason. |
Outlaw admits that he hasn't lived up to the deal. "It was not a good season for me," said Outlaw. "I was at a new position. But I know I can do way better." It's doubtful there will be much interest in him, but either way the Nets need to find a starting-caliber small forward. |

Tue Apr 5 2011 | 11:56 | Outlaw to start at power forward Tuesday |
Travis Outlaw will start at power forward in Tuesday's game against the Wolves. |
The Nets can get away with a small lineup as the Wolves are likely to start Michael Beasley at the "four." Outlaw, however, is a high-risk fantasy play. In 54 starts this season, he is averaging just 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. |

Thu Mar 31 2011 | 10:38 | Outlaw starts for size |
Coach Avery Johnson said he started Travis Outlaw over Sasha Vujacic to get more size in his lineup. |
Outlaw played 31 minutes last night but managed just four points and three rebounds. Vujacic came off the bench for three points in 17 minutes. We'd expect Vujacic to get back in the starting lineup soon -- and if he does he'll be a desperation play for those in search of treys. |

Wed Mar 23 2011 | 22:52 | Travis Outlaw scores 17 off Nets bench |
Travis Outlaw had 17 points and six rebounds on the Nets bench on Wednesday. |
He's always worth keeping an eye on, but rarely ever worth owning. Ignore him for now. |

Tue Mar 8 2011 | 14:06 | Outlaw won't start for Avery |
Updating a previous item, coach Avery Johnson said that Travis Outlaw will not start in place of Damion James (concussion). |
Interesting. Johnson wouldn't say who we will start, but he could be planning on going small with Sasha Vujacic. Another option is rugged defender Stephen Graham. Either way, there isn't much upside here. |

Tue Mar 8 2011 | 13:04 | Outlaw set to start one again |
Travis Outlaw will likely start at small forward in the next two games with Damion James (concussion) sidelined. |
There's nothing to get too excited about here. Outlaw had his chance to impress as a starter earlier this season and faceplanted. In 52 starts: 9.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.1 treys. We wouldn't expect much better this time around. |

Sat Mar 5 2011 | 18:36 | Travis Outlaw huge in Nets' triple-OT victory |
Travis Outlaw came up huge in OT for the Nets on Sunday, finishing New Jersey's victory with 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and zero turnovers. |
Outlaw hadn't scored more than 11 points in any game since the end of January, and he needed three overtime periods just to compile this line (he scored the Nets' final eight points in triple-OT). Throw in the absence of Anthony Morrow and Damion James, both out with concussions, and it's hard to be optimistic about Outlaw's fantasy value. |

Tue Feb 8 2011 | 13:46 | Outlaw going to lose his starting job? |
Nets coach Avery Johnson continues to drop hints that Travis Outlaw will lose his starting job. |
Johnson isn't happy with the way the Nets are starting games and it looks like Outlaw is going to pay. Quinton Ross could start as soon as tomorrow, while Damion James is eventually expected to get a shot. Averaging just 9.9 points and 4.7 boards as a starter, Outlaw is waiver wire fodder. |

Mon Jan 31 2011 | 22:20 | Travis Outlaw scores 21, hits three 3s |
Travis Outlaw blew up for 21 points, four rebounds and three 3-pointers on 8-of-14 shooting in Monday's win over the Nuggets. |
He's scored in single digits in five of his last seven games, so tonight looks more like a fluke than anything else. You can find a better player to pick up if you need one. |
Sat Jan 8 2011 | 21:57 | Travis Outlaw continues to suck for Nets |
Travis Outlaw was held to single-digit points on Saturday (three points, 1-of-7 shooting) for the third straight game. |
New Jersey's off-season acquisition hasn't exactly panned out, as he's shooting 37% from the field and has been consistently inconsistent. He's playing 32 minutes per game, so that's not the issue -- fantasy owners should feel free to cut him and move on. |
Sun Jan 2 2011 | 00:06 | Outlaw scores 17 points vs. Wolves |
Travis Outlaw scored 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, no assists, and one steal on Saturday. |
He has now scored in double-figures in 8-of-10 games, but is still far from trust-worthy while producing mostly mediocre fantasy numbers during that time. His last two games have produced similar lines, so he's worth watching. Just know we've been down this road before. |
Wed Dec 29 2010 | 09:52 | Avery not happy with Outlaw's work habits |
Coach Avery Johnson took a shot at Travis Outlaw's self motivation Tuesday. |
Outlaw apparently needs to be coaxed into putting extra time in. "With Outlaw we just have to stay on his conditioning, stay on his stretching. Continue to work with him on getting up 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 shots. Shooting, shooting, shooting. Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning," Johnson said. Despite getting huge minutes all year, Outlaw has extremely unproductive in the box score this season. He's a borderline fantasy player. |

Tue Dec 21 2010 | 11:01 | Outlaw to draw another start |
Coach Avery Johnson said he is leaning toward keeping Travis Outlaw and Stephen Graham in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies. |
Quinton Ross (back) is questionable, but he'll come off the bench if he is active. Meanwhile, Outlaw continues to get plenty of burn despite his ineffective play on the offensive end. The former Blazer is shooting 38.1 percent on the year, leaving him as a low-end fantasy option at best. |

Tue Dec 14 2010 | 22:54 | Outlaw scores 14 points with seven boards |
Travis Outlaw scored 14 points on 6-of-17 shooting (including two threes) with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks in 34 minutes off the bench on Tuesday. |
He gobbled up the minutes left by Anthony Morrow, who could be out for a while after hearing a "pop" in his hamstring and leaving tonight's game. With Terrence Williams out of the picture, too, Outlaw is positioned to excel as the first wing off the bench as he has done in the past. He's worth a look after tonight's performance, but is not a must-add given his struggles with consistency when the minutes were there. |
Thu Dec 9 2010 | 13:25 | Outlaw removed from starting five |
Travis Outlaw has been removed from the Nets' starting five in favor of rookie Damion James. |
Outlaw has no one to blame but himself. Despite plenty of minutes, he hasn't knocked down shots or rebounded the way many thought he would. And now that Terrence Williams is back, minutes are going to be extremely hard to come by. Most owners will be forced to give up on Outlaw. |
Wed Dec 8 2010 | 17:09 | Outlaw could lose starting spot |
Beat writer Al Iannazzone speculates that Travis Outlaw could lose his starting spot on Thursday. |
Nothing is official yet, but it appears that Damion James could be rejoining the starting five, with Terrence Williams rejoining the rotation and potentially getting solid run as well. Obviously this is bad news for Outlaw's value, but he was already frustrating and inconsistent before this news. |

Sun Nov 28 2010 | 22:15 | Travis Outlaw held to single-digits again |
Nets forward Travis Outlaw scored just seven points on 2-of-9 shooting in Sunday's victory, the fourth straight game he's been held to single-digits. |
Outlaw's minutes were up tonight (35) but he's just not getting it done. He has three steals and five blocks for the entire season, and fantasy owners should at least give a long look at potential FA replacements. |
