Sat Mar 5 201100:06Green scores 15 points off the bench
Willie Green scored 15 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 6-of-11 shots from the field (no threes) with two rebounds and no other statistics in 27 minutes off the bench.
He had a few key plays, but being demoted to the bench he has very little to offer fantasy owners right now. Even in deeper formats, he belongs on waivers until he gets his act together.

Thu Mar 3 201100:37Willie Green's cold streak continues
Willie Green had just nine points in 21 minutes on Wednesday as his slump continued.
Jarrett Jack is outplaying him and could steal his job, although the Hornets are in complete disarray right now. We heard that the entire bench left the court at one point while the game was going on, and coach Monty Williams said later he went off on several players after the game for not playing with heart. While Green probably wasn't one of those, his flame be have burned out.

Wed Mar 2 201100:49Green scores four points in reduced role
Willie Green scored four points on 2-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, four assists, and a steal in 26 minutes on Tuesday.
He has lost his edge in the timeshare at shooting guard and can be safely dropped in most formats.

Sat Feb 26 201103:03Green plays 24 minutes, scores 12 points
Willie Green played just 24 minutes in Friday's win over the Wolves, scoring 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
While the fact he produced this much in limited minutes is nice, his outlook took a hit when Carl Landry arrived, despite the two playing different positions. Green has been producing enough to be worth a look, but his already tenuous grip on value can't really afford another rotation guy showing up with his hand out.
Thu Feb 24 201102:49Willie Green still playing well for Hornets
Willie Green made another start Wednesday and had 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two 3-pointers on 7-of-11 shooting.
Marco Belinelli came off the bench for 12 points in just 16 minutes, and you can add Green to the list of guys who look like a nice pickup right now.
Thu Feb 17 201110:24Green shooting the lights out
Willie Green is shooting 52.9 percent from the field since taking over the starting shooting guard gig.
Green has started five straight games for the Hornets, averaging 17.4 points and 1.4 treys a game. But his secondary stats are brutal: 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists over that span with just one steal and no blocks. He'll keep starting, but is a low-end play. Note that Green is a career 42.5 percent shooter.

Thu Feb 17 201103:08Willie Green drops 24 in loss to Blazers
Willie Green continued to start at shooting guard for the Hornets and had 24 points and six boards on 11-of-19 shooting in Wednesday's loss.
Green has hit double digits in scoring in five of his last six games and is worth a look if you need a shooting guard. Marco Belinelli has become useless, and failed to score off the bench, while Marcus Thornton had just five points in a bench role.
Wed Feb 16 201102:10Green starts and scores 12 points vs. GSW
Willie Green started at shooting guard again and scored 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting (no threes) with three rebounds and no other statistics in 29 minutes on Tuesday.
He may pick things up at some point, but Green is only worth considering in deeper formats. Marco Belinelli scored 15 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds and on other statistics in 22 minutes, as the two will continue to cancel each other out in fantasy.
Sat Feb 12 201123:30Willie Green quiet in another start
Willie Green started again on Saturday but had just eight points, three assists and two 3-pointers in 23 minutes.
Marcus Thornton, who didn't even play in his last game, scored a season-high 24 points, rendering Green useless. Monty Williams doesn't love Thornton and it sounds like Green should continue to start, but neither player is a must-own fantasy player at this point.
Sat Feb 12 201101:02Green scores 24 points in 2nd start at SG
Willie Green started at shooting guard for the Hornets on Friday, and scored 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 36 minutes.
He has now scored 22.5 points per game in his last two contests, and there's no reason to think he can't continue starting and performing -- so he's worth a look and will enter must-add territory with one more performance like this under his belt.
Thu Feb 10 201100:24Willie Green starts, scores 19 in loss
Willie Green started in place of strugglig Marco Belinelli on Wednesday and hit 8-of-14 shots and two 3-pointers for 19 points in 35 minutes.
Trevor Ariza is due back within a week and Green was hot tonight, so we're not big fans of making a move for Green. But if you're in a deep league, he's worth a flier as long as Ariza remains sidelined with his sprained ankle.
Fri Jan 14 201110:19Willie Green to start if Belinelli sits out
Willie Green -- not Marcus Thornton -- will start Friday night if Marco Belinelli (ankle) is out.
No surprise here. Thornton has maddeningly been behind Green all season and Belinelli's injury will not change that. "As much as I like Marcus' scoring, he doesn't have the size that you like at that position to start the game," coach Monty Williams said. Thornton still figures to see significant minutes off the bench and is worth a spot start in deeper leagues, but there's no reason to get overly excited.

Thu Dec 30 201009:42Green back Friday at Boston
Willie Green (personal) is expected to return to the Hornets for Friday's game against the Celtics.
Green will have missed nearly two weeks after the tragic death of his sister and cousin. He'll likely be eased back into a rotation role off the bench and should be behind Marcus Thornton now.

Sun Dec 26 201019:31Willie Green may return later this week
Willie Green, whose sister and cousin recently died in a car crash, is expected to rejoin the Hornets later this week.

Willie Green has been granted an extended leave by the Hornets to be with his family after Sunday's fatal car crash.

Mon Dec 20 201017:42Willie Green out Monday after family tragedy
The sister and cousin of New Orleans' Willie Green were killed early Monday in a one-car accident a few hours after they attended the Hornets' overtime loss to the Pistons in Detroit.
Green is out Monday and possibly longer, and we offer our condolences to the Green family. Marcus Thornton could see some extra minutes for as long as Green is out.
Mon Dec 20 201011:45Willie Green loses sister, cousin in crash
The sister and cousin of Hornets guard Willie Green were both killed in a car crash late Sunday night, after watching Green play the Pistons in Detroit.
Our thoughts are with Green and his family as they come to terms with this devastating accident. Willie Green Sr. said, "If God permits something like that to happen, you say 'Amen' and move on."

Sat Nov 27 201002:43Green scores 19, hits two 3-pointers in win
Willie Green came off the bench for 19 points and two 3-pointers on 7-of-11 shooting in 29 minutes Friday.
The 19 tied a season high and he's scored in double figures in five of his last night games. We see no reason to pick him up in most leagues, but if your waiver wire is bare, he might be worth a look.
Sun Nov 21 201020:40Willie Green shoots just 1-of-9 from field
Hornets guard Willie Green shot just 1-of-9 off the bench on Sunday, notching two points, four rebounds, two assists and three turnovers in 21 minutes.
Green is a career 42% shooter, and we'll file this under "Reasons the Hornets traded for Jarrett Jack."
