Sat Mar 3 201210:05Willie Green (back) won't play Saturday
Willie Green (back) is not expected to play on Saturday.
Prior to Friday's game both Green and Joe Johnson (knee) were expected to miss "at least" two games, which makes them questionable to return for Atlanta on Tuesday. In the meantime, Kirk Hinrich and Tracy McGrady are filling the void at SG.

Fri Mar 2 201211:55Willie Green ruled out for Friday vs. Bucks
Willie Green (back) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Bucks.
Green's back spasms are still bothersome and he won't be able to play on Friday as a result. Kirk Hinrich and Tracy McGrady will both see more minutes off the bench with Green out of the lineup.

Thu Mar 1 201213:20Willie Green treated for back spasms Thursday
Willie Green (back) is questionable to play against the Bucks on Friday.
Green was treated for back spasms leaving his status up in the air. If Green can't go, both Kirk Hinrich and Tracy McGrady should see an uptick in minutes off the bench.

Thu Feb 23 201223:06Green scores 14 points despite not starting
Willie Green scored 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes off the bench on Thursday.
Green was a potential starter for injured Joe Johnson (knee), but Kirk Hinrich got the nod due to matchup considerations according to Larry Drew. Still, if you took the gamble on Green tonight you probably did okay, and after the last two weeks he is a name to file away in the Rolodex in case the Hawks get banged up.

Thu Feb 23 201200:14Willie Green starts, scores 16 in loss
Willie Green started in place of Joe Johnson and had 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 7-of-16 shooting in Wednesday's ugly loss to the Knicks.
Green might be good for another fantasy start on Thursday with Joe Johnson out again, and has scored between 16 and 20 points in three of his last four games.

Mon Feb 20 201219:20Willie Green has six points in start
Willie Green started in place of Marvin Williams (personal) Monday but had just six points in 18 minutes.
Green didn't do anything wrong, but Kirk Hinrich and Tracy McGrady led a valiant comeback attempt. That left the veteran scorer on the pine. Green could push for another start and a bump in minutes Wednesday with Joe Johnson (knee) expected to sit.

Mon Feb 20 201213:39Willie Green will start on Monday
Willie Green will start in place of Marvin Williams (personal) in Monday's game against the Bulls.
Green gets the nod ahead of Vladimir Radmanovic and a disgruntled Tracy McGrady. The ex-Sixer is a professional and accomplished scorer, but his playing time will depend on game flow. Over the last five games, he's averaging 12.4 points and 1.8 3-pointers per game while playing 21.2 minutes. Kirk Hinrich will also be pushing for backcourt minutes.

Sun Feb 19 201200:37Willie Green scores 17 in loss to Blazers
Willie Green hit 7-of-9 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points in Saturday's loss.
Green has been somehow running hot lately, scoring 17, 20 and 17 points in three of his last four games. However, he had just six and two points in the other two of his last five, and is just too inconsistent to be used in fantasy leagues right now.

Thu Feb 16 201204:06Willie Green scores 20 points with four treys
Willie Green scored a season-high 20 points off the bench with Tracy McGrady (rest) out on Wednesday, hitting 5-of-8 shots from the field (including four treys) with four rebounds and three steals in 34 minutes.
One look at his game log will show you why he's not worth an add, but if you're looking for spot-help and McGrady misses another game it could be time to take a flier in a deeper league.

Sun Feb 12 201221:58Willie Green scores season-high 17 points
Taking advantage of extra minutes in a blowout loss, Willie Green scored a season-high 17 points off the Hawks' bench on Sunday.
Green made 7-of-12 FGs, including 3-of-3 from downtown, with three rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes. He has sporadic games when he shoots well and earns more playing time, but (especially with Kirk Hinrich healthy) there's no reason to expect reliable value from Green.

Sun Jan 29 201222:56Willie Green torches former team for 16
Willie Green hit 6-of-11 shots and four 3-pointers for a season-high 16 points against the Hornets on Sunday.
It's not a coincidence that Green was playing against his former team, so don't read too much into this. He belongs on waivers, especially now that Kirk Hinrich is back.

Sat Jan 21 201200:25Green out of nowhere to score 14 points
Willie Green hit 6-of-7 shots (including two threes) on Friday, finishing with 14 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench.
This is his first blip on the fantasy radar and the experience will be short-lived. Green is waiver wire fodder.

Thu Dec 22 201112:35Willie Green signed by Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have signed Willie Green.
Green drew surprisingly little interest on the open market, and the move makes sense with Kirk Hinrich sidelined and Jeff Teague currently day-to-day. Regardless, he's unlikely to hold fantasy value.

Thu May 5 201111:20Green wants to be back with Hornets
Free agent Willie Green said he wants to return to the Hornets.
Green's first season in New Orleans yielded just 21.6 minutes per game, but the classy veteran knows his role. The Hornets could likely have him back as a locker room leader and scorer off the bench for the veteran minimum.

Mon Apr 11 201123:47Willie Green comes back to reality in loss
Willie Green came back to reality in Monday's loss and had 12 points (two three's) with two rebounds, two steals and a block on 4-of-10 shooting.
He's not going to hit the first 12 shots he takes for the rest of his career, and owners should be able to find a more reliable source for production than the hot and cold shooting guard.

Sat Apr 9 201101:27Willie Green scores career-high 31 in win
Willie Green caught fire off the bench on Friday, starting off 12-of-12 from the floor, 5-of-5 from downtown and 2-of-2 from the free throw line before missing a few shots to finish with a career-high 31 points as the Hornets beat the Suns.
Green missed his last five shots, but still had an amazing line. We doubt he was in any fantasy lineups, but is at lesat worth a look after tonight's explosiong. The Hornets are still battling the Blazers for the No. 6 seed in the West, but fell behind as Portland beat the Lakers tonight.

Sun Mar 20 201102:00Green held scoreless in Saturday's loss
Willie Green was held scoreless in Saturday's game, missing all four shot attempts with no statistics to his credit in 11 minutes off the bench.
This is the key reason that he and Marco Belinelli (23 points tonight) are to be avoided in fantasy leagues -- they can do this on any given night.

Tue Mar 15 201100:27Green scores 18 points against Nuggets
Willie Green scored 18 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 7-of-16 shots from the field (including three treys) with two rebounds and a steal in 29 minutes.
He is better suited for deep league recognition after a night like this, as he has been much too inconsistent for standard league owners to jump at this line. Starter Marco Belinelli scored nine points on 3-of-10 shooting with three treys and not much else, and the two will likely split production going forward.

Thu Mar 10 201101:38Green starts, but Belinelli produces
Willie Green returned to the starting lineup after a three-game stint off the bench Wednesday, but had just six points, three boards and one assist in 22 minutes.
Marco Belinelli had started the last three, but was mysteriously on the bench tonight. However, it must have motivated him as he went off for 21 points, five boards and four 3-pointers in 40 minutes. Starting or not, Belinelli looks like the guy you want to own here. He also hit a pretty half-court shot tonight, accounting for one of his treys.

Tue Mar 8 201101:43Green gets minutes, but does little with them
Willie Green played 31 minutes with Chris Paul (concussion) out on Monday, but hit just 3-of-13 shots from the field (no threes) for six points with four rebounds, two assists, and one block.
If CP3 stays out and you're in need of a spot-starter in a deeper format, give him a look, but beyond that there's not much to like with him coming off the bench.
