Luis Scola is expected to shift to the starting center spot in the wake of Marcin Gortat's foot injury.

"Scola is crafty and more capable of doing it (playing center) for extended periods of time than Keef would be," coach Lindsey Hunter said. They will miss Gortat for possibly the season and Jermaine O'Neal is out for a personal issue, but he could be back in a few games. Scola doesn't have much upside since he doesn't block shots, but he'll be worth a look in standard leagues for those seeking boards and points.

Luis Scola scored six points on 3-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes on Friday against the Hawks.

Scola and Jared Dudley (five points, 2-of-8 FGs, 20 minutes) were seen barking at each other on the way to a timeout huddle, and maybe each guy owns the other one in a fantasy league. With all the chaos in Phoenix, Lindsey Hunter is bombing in his coaching debut.

Scola came in averaging 13.6 points and 6.8 rebounds over his last five games, and still looks like a more reliable option than Morris, despite tonight's dud.

Scola has been underwhelming for most of the season and his slack of defensive stats keep his fantasy value in the 10th-round range for standard formats. Marcus Morris (seven points, five boards, two steals and one block 21 minutes) will eat into Scola's playing time and this could be a timeshare.

The Suns are a mess and none of them are really reliable right now, but Scola played very well tonight. Maybe he'll get it going, but as long as Lindsey Hunter is running the show, this could have just been a fluke. This was his first double-double since Jan. 8.

The Suns were run out of their own building by the Thunder on Sunday, and Luis Scola ended up with just six points and five rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

The lip service is nice, but Scola would surely prefer to have a bigger role -- he's averaging 19.3 minutes in the past three games, and hasn't double-doubled in over a month. Markieff Morris scored seven points with five rebounds in 24 minutes on Friday, compared to Scola's 17 minutes, and we're watching Hunter's rotations closely heading into the All-Star break.

Luis Scola and Marcin Gortat both struggled in Friday's blowout loss to the Thunder, with Scola scoring six points with one rebound, one steal and one block, and Gortat scoring two points with five rebounds and no other stats.

Scola logged 17 minutes to Gortat's 26, and aside from Goran Dragic (19 points, six assists) and Michael Beasley (25 points, seven boards) nobody on the Suns was worth a darn. Go ahead and throw this game in the circular file for the entire team.

Luis Scola matched his season highs with 14 boards and three steals against the Warriors on Saturday, adding eight points, four assists and one block.

Scola's January was just about what we expected with averages of 14.0 points, 6.4 boards, 0.6 blocks and 0.6 steals. He's not going to put up many monster lines, but he's fairly consistent and should be owned in standard leagues.

Scola averaged 32 minutes per game in his last 11 games with 16.8 points and 7.1 boards in that stretch. Thursday's line serves as a microcosm for his value with points, boards and not much else, so plan accordingly. Marcin Gortat was quiet on Thursday with seven points, five boards and two blocks in 29 minutes.

Luis Scola torched the Bulls for 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in just 28 minutes on Saturday, helping the Suns pull away with a 97-81 road victory.

Scola started with a few easy mid-range shots and wound up 9-of-15 from the field, and his scoring punch wasn't needed down the stretch. He's returning late-round value in 30 minutes per game over the past two weeks, a realistic reflection of his season-long value.

Luis Scola had seven points, six rebounds, six assists and one steal vs. the visiting Grizzlies on Sunday, but he shot just 3-of-12 from the field with four turnovers.

Scola was heating up with 20+ points in each of his past three games, but on Sunday he missed almost everything, including a meaningless, undefended flip-in at the buzzer. The entire Suns' offense was disjointed, scoring 80 points on sub-40 percent shooting, and we're not reading too much into tonight's numbers.

Scola's slump is officially over and he's on fire right now, scoring 21 or more in three straight games and contributing in most scoring categories. If you were able to grab him off waivers after a disgruntled owner jumped the gun and dumped him, congratulations are in order.

Luis Scola scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting with six rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes on Monday against the Thunder.

Scola has been up-and-down all year and that could easily continue, but he's been playing very well lately and had a season-high 33 points on Saturday. He's certainly worth owning in 12-team formats, and if he's available in your league you need to give him a very hard look.

Luis Scola caught fire vs. the Wolves on Saturday, making 16-of-26 FGs en route to a season-high 33 points.

The veteran also had 10 rebounds against Minnesota's physical frontcourt, while adding two assists, one steal, two blocks and zero turnovers in over 43 minutes. This emphatic reminder of his skill level should erase any notion of him returning to the bench behind Markieff Morris (19 minutes). He could easily flop in his next game, but his minutes have spiked this weekend and he's good enough to be owned in 12-team leagues.

Luis Scola played 36 minutes in Wednesday's 121-104 win over the Bobcats and had 12 points, five boards and four assists.

Markieff Morris has been kicked to the curb with just 15 minutes per game in his last three games. Scola is looking much better these days, but just remember that his upside isn't high since he doesn't provide much defense.

Luis Scola scored 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds, 10 assists, and one steal against the lowly Kings on Monday.

Scola logged 33 minutes and owners need to consider the opponent when making their evaluations. The Kings run an offense you might find at your local YMCA, which means Scola's defensive deficiencies were easily hidden. Add in the Kings' typical awful defense, and there's your backdrop with which to assess.
