Sun Nov 28 201021:59Rudy (pelvis) scores six points in return
Rudy Fernandez (pelvic contusion) returned to action for the Blazers on Sunday, scoring six points in 11 minutes off the bench.
Rudy chipped in two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Those are decent per-minute numbers, but his playing time is too limited to expect more than a handful of points and 3s.
Sat Nov 27 201002:52Rudy Fernandez leaves after groin injury
Rudy Fernandez failed to score in six minutes before leaving Friday's game after being kicked in the groin.
He didn't return and should be considered day-to-day for now.
Sun Nov 21 201003:51Rudy gets 29 minutes of run with Roy out
Rudy Fernandez played 29 minutes on Saturday with Brandon Roy (knee) still out, and finished with 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting (all shots were threes) with one rebound, two assists, and one steal.
He hasn't done anything with his opportunity, but the playing time is going to be there if Roy gets shut down or misses any length of time. Keep him on your radar and be ready to move if he starts heating up.
Wed Nov 17 201000:46Rudy left in the dust by Wesley's big night
Rudy Fernandez was left in the dust by Wesley Matthews' big night on Tuesday, scoring just three points on 1-of-7 shooting with no rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes.
A couple of things -- First, Matthews isn't going to go for 30 points every night, and yes, Rudy will be better than this. Second, if Brandon Roy (knee) misses time or gets shut down there will be about 25-30 minutes per game available for Rudy. Those factors mean he's still worth an add -- he's just more of a sneaky add at this point.
Sun Nov 14 201000:26Fernandez plays just 15 minutes on Saturday
Rudy Fernandez played just 15 minutes on Saturday, scoring four points on 1-of-6 shooting with no rebounds, three assists, and a 3-pointer.
Brandon Roy left tonight's game with a well-chronicled knee injury and looks like he could be shutdown, although he may also choose to limp out there every night. In any event, Rudy stands to benefit and could also start, making him a prime pickup for the chance he starts playing 30+ minutes a night.
Sat Nov 13 201001:31Rudy Fernandez scores 15 for Blazers
Rudy Fernandez hit 5-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers for 15 points, three rebounds and three assists in Friday's loss.
He's quietly worked his way back into the mix in Portland and might be worth an add if you're in a deep league. He's scored 13, 13 and 15 in his each of his last three to go along with eight 3-pointers.
Thu Nov 11 201010:19Fernandez to pick up Roy's slack
The Oregonian confirms that Rudy Fernandez is set for more minutes with Brandon Roy (knee) hobbled.
Roy is going to play through his knee ailment for now, but is expected to see reduced minutes. Look for Fernandez to get at least 25 minutes a night, which is plenty of time for him to make a handful of 3-pointers and get some steals. Fernandez is well worth an add, especially with Roy's long-term outlook unclear.

Wed Nov 10 201003:06Rudy could benefit most from Roy injury
Rudy Fernandez played 27 minutes in the Blazers' blowout win over the Pistons on Tuesday, and finished with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting (3-of-5 from downtown) with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The big news here is Brandon Roy's knee and the evaluation he'll be getting Wednesday, presumably. When Roy went out in last year's playoffs, Rudy was the guy who got the call and there will be no better way to enhance his trade value than to plug him right back in. He should be considered for pickup in all leagues.

Mon Nov 8 201002:34Fernandez (back) returns to action Sunday
Rudy Fernandez, who missed the last two games with a back injury, returned to action on Sunday and scored 13 points with one rebound, three assists and a steal in 18 minutes.
Fernandez and Wesley Matthews have established bench roles in which they play 16-24 minutes a night backing up Brandon Roy and Nicolas Batum. Matthews logged 22 minutes and finished with four points, one rebound and two assists.

Rudy Fernandez returned to action on Sunday November 7.
Sat Nov 6 201021:08Fernandez (back) out for Saturday's game
Rudy Fernandez (back) will not play in Saturday's game against the Raptors.
Look for Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum to absorb his minutes, but we wouldn't change our outlook for either of them too significantly. Both are risky plays given their inconsistency so far.

Sat Nov 6 201014:36Rudy Fernandez (back) still iffy for Saturday
Rudy Fernandez (back) missed Portland's shootaround on Saturday and remains questionable to face the Raptors.
Fernandez is filling too small a role off the Blazers bench to gamble on him in fantasyland, but he remains a key reserve and a valuable trade chip. Consider him a game-time decision.

Fri Nov 5 201015:29Rudy (back) questionable for Saturday
Rudy Fernandez (sore back) skipped Friday's practice and is questionable to play vs. the Raptors on Saturday.
Martell Webster and Nicolas Batum should absorb Rudy's minutes if he can't suit up. We should have a better feel for his status after tomorrow's shootaround.
Thu Nov 4 201022:06Fernandez (back) ruled out for Thursday
Rudy Fernandez (back) will not play in Thursday night's game against the Thunder.
The injuries continue to mount for the Blazers. Wesley Matthews will see more time on the wing until Fernandez gets healthy.

Sat Oct 30 201022:35Rudy Fernandez quiet in 16 minutes
Rudy Fernandez had three points and one rebound in 16 minutes off the Blazers' bench on Saturday, shooting 1-of-4 from the field.
His lone make was a 3-pointer, of course, but unless his minutes increase he's little more than a deep-league special. Portland will likely give him enough burn to keep up his trade value, and no more.
Sat Oct 30 201019:24Blazers pick up 2011-12 option for Rudy F.
The Trail Blazers have picked up the 2011-12 option on Rudy Fernandez's contract.
The deal is affordable at $2.2 million and this isn't a surprising move, but it's still pretty ironic considering Rudy's well-documented desire to be released or traded. The Blazers seem intent on keeping him until they get a trade offer they deem worthy, and for now his role off the bench is secure.

Fri Oct 29 201015:20Rudy Fernandez files greivance about fines
Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez has filed a grievance with the NBA after he was fined $50,000 for comments his agent made about Rudy seeking a trade.
Whether Rudy wins the grievance is irrelevant for fantasy purposes, but it looks like he's accepted the fact that he'll be playing in Portland this season. The Blazers decision to trade Jerryd Bayless could open up more minutes and shots for sharp-shooting Rudy, which looks like a win-win situation.

Thu Oct 28 201002:07Fernandez scores eight off the bench
Rudy Fernandez played 16 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, going 2-of-7 to score eight points with two rebounds. Both of his makes were of the three-point variety.
Fernandez is an absolute chucker who is capable of posting big scoring lines if given enough minutes, but he didn't get many tonight, and he probably won't get many in the future without an injury to Brandon Roy or Nicolas Batum.
Tue Oct 19 201011:16Fernandez not going anywhere
Rudy Fernandez has slowly accepted the fact that he will remain in Portland this season, according to the Oregonian.
A trade isn't happening right now and the Blazers aren't going to let him go back to Europe. So Fernandez has sucked it up and had an excellent preseason while earning back the trust of his teammates. Fernandez will be an= low-upside option for owners in need of treys.

Tue Oct 19 201004:01Fernandez leads NBA preseason in threes
Rudy Fernandez added to his NBA leading 3-point shooting total (20) with two treys on Monday in just 12 minutes.
He finished with eight points, two rebounds, and two assists, and best of all he appears happy after teammates have reached out to him and made him feel welcome. He's worth a look in deep leagues if you need 3-point shooting.
