Tue Dec 13 201118:01Mavericks trade Rudy F, Brewer to Nuggets
The Mavericks and Nuggets have completed a trade that sends Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer to Denver for a future second-round pick.
Fernandez was reportedly unhappy in Dallas after the Mavs traded for Vince Carter, Delonte West and Lamar Odom -- he and Brewer give the Nuggets much-needed depth on the wings, but it's possible Rudy wants a buyout so he can return to Spain. The Mavericks are less interested in the second-round pick than the cap space they've cleared for next summer.

Tue Dec 13 201115:51Report: Rudy Fernandez to be dealt to Nuggets
The Mavericks are reportedly in "advanced discussions" to trade Rudy Fernandez to the Nuggets.
Dallas would receive future draft picks in consideration. It's not surprised he wants to be dealt elsewhere considering all of the moves the Mavs have made to add depth to the roster, but his waffling is getting a little tiresome. He would add a nice source of scoring to the second unit assuming the team re-signs RFA Arron Afflalo.

Tue Dec 13 201105:27Fernandez to seek buyout from the Mavericks
Rudy Fernandez will seek a buyout from the Mavs according to a league source.
"It would be the best move for both sides," the source said. "Rudy can be free to keep playing in Spain and the Mavs can go about their season with a sound roster." The signings of Delonte West and Vince Carter may have been a precursor to this, and it will mark the end of a somewhat disappointing career in the NBA.

Mon Dec 12 201110:33Rudy Fernandez, Corey Brewer being shopped
The Mavericks are attempting to trade both Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer in order to create additional cap space.
Dallas just acquired Fernandez during the draft, so it's odd that the club would be looking to deal him before he ever suits up for the club. Something may be brewing for the Mavericks, as the team is known to be angling for a run at Deron Williams during the summer of 2012 when he's scheduled to hit free agency.

Fri Dec 9 201111:33Rudy Fernandez won't fly to U.S. until Monday
Rudy Fernandez isn't expected to arrive in the U.S. until Monday because of continuing issues with his visa paperwork.
It seems that the Mavericks failed to submit a certain petition in a timely fashion, which will cost Fernandez a few valuable days to adjust to his new team in training camp. Otherwise, this isn't a big issue.

Tue Dec 6 201111:15Rudy Fernandez in Spain, has visa issues
Rudy Fernandez's arrival in Dallas is being delayed by visa issues.
"The Mavs made a mistake, some paperwork had to be done like a month ago and now Rudy has this issue and he can't fly to Dallas," a source told HoopsHype. This shouldn't be too lengthy of an issue and Fernandez still has plenty of time to report to the Mavericks.

Mon Nov 28 201111:42Report: Rudy Fernandez to stay with Dallas
Updating a previous item, a source tells Jorge Sierra of HoopsHype that Rudy Fernandez's "Plan A" is to remain with Dallas.
There was an earlier item that had Fernandez possibly informing the team of his desire to stay with Real Madrid, but it sounds as if that might not be the case after all. He's got intriguing fantasy potential in Dallas as he's likely ticketed for a larger role than he had in Portland, and he could be especially valuable for owners looking for a source of 3-pointers after averaging 1.5 per game in just 23 minutes of playing time last season.

Mon Nov 28 201108:00Rudy Fernandez wants to stay with Real Madrid
Rudy Fernandez will reportedly travel to Dallas next season to inform the Mavericks of his desire to stay with Real Madrid in Europe.
Fernandez has been back and forth about his desire to return to Europe on a permanent basis for a while, and now that he's been playing with Real Madrid during the lockout, it sounds as if he'd like to stay. The Mavericks could really use him on the roster this season and traded for him on draft day, so the team isn't going to be willing to let him simply walk away for nothing in return.

Sun Nov 27 201110:41Rudy Fernandez out one week w/ knee injury
Mavericks SG Rudy Fernandez is expected to miss one week after twisting his knee playing for Real Madrid.
For you medical students out there, an MRI showed that Rudy suffered "a distension on the left popliteus muscle." The good news is that it isn't very serious, and he should be fully healthy for his debut with Dallas.

Tue Sep 27 201107:13Rudy Fernandez using 2011-12 as "test period"
Rudy Fernandez will use the 2011-12 season as a "test period" to decide whether he wants to remain in the NBA or return to Europe.
Fernandez flip-flops constantly on the subject between staying stateside and going back to Europe, and it appears nothing has changed. Fernandez is in the final year of his contract in the NBA, but he just signed a contract with Real Madrid as well. He'll either remain with Real Madrid after the season or seek to remain in the league.

Tue Sep 20 201110:42Fernandez officially signs with Real Madrid
Rudy Fernandez has officially signed with Real Madrid.
Fernandez had agreed to a contract over a month ago with the Spanish team, but now it's official. He'll have to play for Dallas through 2011-12, but after that, Fernandez will be a permanent member of Real Madrid for the length of his contract. We can't say that we're surprised Fernandez made the decision, as he's flirted with the idea of a European return for quite some time.

Mon Aug 15 201107:34Report: Rudy Fernandez signs with Real Madrid
Rudy Fernandez has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract with Real Madrid.
Fernandez was known to be negotiating with the team once again earlier this month, and it looks like the two sides have finally agreed to a deal. The shooting guard will play for the Mavericks if and when the lockout ends, but in the summer of 2012, Fernandez will return to Real Madrid and play with the team. Fernandez's return to European basketball should not come as a surprise, and the shooting guard will earn around three million Euros per season.

Tue Aug 2 201107:14Rudy Fernandez negotiating with Real Madrid
Rudy Fernandez is once again negotiating with Real Madrid.
Despite other reports indicating to the contrary, Hoopsworld reports that the talks have "picked up steam in recent weeks". The two sides reportedly met last week, and a six-year deal worth 2.5 million Euros per season is currently being discussed. The discussed contract may include an NBA-out clause, but the report indicates that Fernandez wants to commit to Real Madrid for the long haul.

Tue Jul 19 201111:05Rudy Fernandez the favorite to start at SG
Rudy Fernandez "would seem the top candidate to start" at shooting guard for the Mavs, according to ESPN Dallas.
We know Jason Terry is going to come off the bench as a sixth man and the Mavs are frustrated with Roddy Beaubois' development. DeShawn Stevenson is expected to walk in free agency, leaving Fernandez all alone atop the depth chart. It's a role he earn anywhere from 25-31 minutes per game in, depending on performance. Fernandez is a deep sleeper whenever fantasy drafts get underway.

Tue Jul 5 201113:30Report: Rudy Fernandez to finish out contract
Rudy Fernandez has decided to stay with the Mavs and finish out his NBA contract, recently turning down a huge offer from Real Madrid.
The team reportedly offered him a six-year, $26 million deal that would have made him the highest player in the Spanish ACB. He'll play out his contract with the Mavs and then will likely look to go back to Spain in 2013.

Mon Jul 4 201108:49Rudy Fernandez may not be in Dallas for long
Rudy Fernandez could leave the Mavericks after the upcoming NBA season for Europe.
Real Madrid made a huge offer to Fernandez earlier in the week, but the sharpshooter said that he'd honor his deal with Dallas when the lockout ends. Fernandez is set to become a restricted free agent in 2012-13, so Mavs fans probably shouldn't get too used to seeing him in a Dallas uniform.

Sun Jul 3 201111:07Real Madrid makes a bid for Rudy Fernandez
Real Madrid has reportedly made Rudy Fernandez an offer worth $18 million over six years.
The deal would make Rudy "the highest paid player in the history of the ACB (Asociaci¢n de Clubs de Baloncesto)." This sounds like his dream offer, but he was just traded to the reigning NBA champions and is staring at a starting SG job -- as usual, the status of the lockout could be the deciding factor.

Sat Jun 25 201111:23Rudy Fernandez could start at SG for Mavs
Rudy Fernandez could start at SG for the Mavericks next season.
Much depends upon what the Mavs do in free agency regarding DeShawn Stevenson, J.J. Barea, and others. Still, there's a good chance he'll win the SG job -- Mavs executive Donnie Nelson described him as "a guy that's got experience, he's athletic, he's young, he's got an upside, he's an established guy, he's a three-point threat."

Fri Jun 24 201100:30Fernandez traded to the Mavs on draft day
Rudy Fernandez was traded to the Mavs on draft day in exchange for No. 26 pick Jordan Hamilton.
It's a solid pickup for the Mavs considering he'll make just $2.2 million next season and can also be retained on the cheap the following year. Look for him to take the role of Peja Stojakovic and/or DeShawn Stevenson next season.

Mon Apr 25 201115:21Report: Rudy Fernandez fires agent
It's being reported that Rudy Fernandez has parted ways with agent Andy Miller.
He'll be represented by Spanish agent David Carro, who represents many American players in Europe. While this could lead to Rudy going to Europe to finish his career, he seems to change his mind often about what he wants to do.
