DeJuan Blair's "physical transformation" has been noticed by teammates.

Beat writer Mike Monroe opines that the process has been "stark," with some teammates even calling Blair skinny now. Blair reportedly spent the summer soul searching in the midst of trade rumors, and it made him mature as a person and a player. He added that his perimeter game is growing, and Gregg Popovich went as far as to say that Blair has had an "excellent camp."

DeJuan Blair lost weight this summer and feels he's in the best shape of his life.

"I'm a lot more bouncy," he said. "My knees feel great." Blair wasn't happy that he fell out of the rotation in the playoffs last year, and he expected to be traded this summer, but it now sounds like both he and the Spurs are on the same page. He's also working on the mental aspect of his game, saying, "[I need to] slow my game down but still have that aggressiveness. That's what I'm trying to get through my head, to be more patient and think a lot better."

This contradicts what we reported yesterday about Blair being "testy" about his lack of a defined role and there have been some trade rumors around him. "DeJuan's had an excellent camp," coach Gregg Popovich said. "He's been active at both ends of the floor. He's trying to make better decisions and do what's best for the group." He's not worthy of a selection in standard fantasy leagues.

Blair also said that he's "working really hard" to keep his body in shape throughout the season, and has lost 16 lbs. in the offseason.

Blair fell out of favor under Gregg Popovich last season and it's not entirely surprising that the team is gauging what he may be able to bring back in a deal. San Antonio is reportedly looking for roster flexibility in case some of their overseas prospects enter the NBA.

Blair played just 10 minutes tonight, matching his series total, but has a history of torching the Thunder and could be a crucial part of the Spurs attack in the final two or three games of the series. They fell tonight despite shooting 50 percent, committing only 10 turnovers, having six players in double-figures, and getting a spirited clutch performance from Kawhi Leonard (17 points on 7-of-8 shooting, nine rebounds).

Gregg Popovich is "well aware" of the success that DeJuan Blair has had against the Thunder in his brief career.

As a rookie in 2010, Blair notched 28 & 21 against the Thunder. In March of this season, he posted 22 & 11. He's nearly fallen out of the rotation in the playoffs, behind Boris Diaw, Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter, but we could see more of him vs. OKC.

Blair started 62 games for the Spurs this year, averaging 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 21 minutes per game, but his role has been dwindling ever since Boris Diaw arrived and it seems he'll be an afterthought as San Antonio pursues their first title since 2006-07.

If Tiago Splitter (wrist) is unable to play in Game 2 on Wednesday, DeJuan Blair will play backup center behind Boris Diaw.

"DeJuan Blair is ready to go," said Gregg Popovich. "He did a good job [in Game 1]. He sat for a long time, but he came in and got right to it." Splitter is currently 'doubtful' to suit up on Wednesday, so owners in fantasy playoff leagues should keep an eye on Blair.

DeJuan Blair started and had 10 points, eight rebounds, two steals and no blocks in 28 minutes of Wednesday's win.

Blair was outplayed by Tiago Splitter (20 minutes), and if trends hold true, Splitter could play more minutes than Blair in Thursday's finale.

With Tim Duncan resting, DeJuan Blair went off for 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals vs. the Cavaliers on Sunday.

Saying that he 'went off' is strong, but it's all relative and this was his highest-scoring game since March 24. Duncan will probably sit out at least one of the Spurs' final three games, giving Blair half a chance of posting another good line.

DeJuan Blair will return to the starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Kings.

Blair was a DNP-CD on Tuesday and has seen his role reduced a bit as of late, making him a risky play in most leagues. With Tim Duncan out, Boris Diaw will get the start alongside Blair.

Prior to tonight's DNP, he'd played 22 minutes or less in his previous five games. He's due for a big line at some point, but is just too risky to be in starting lineups right now.

DeJuan Blair played just 12 minutes on Thursday against the Grizzlies, coring two points on 1-of-3 shooting with two rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

Blair is a total roll of the dice and is likely to mix a good game or two with at least one game like this, so even during the upcoming five-game week he's probably suited for deep league action only.

This is a decent start to his week, but Blair has been decidedly pedestrian both lately and all year long. He'll need a big game and some DNP help before owners would entertain using him in most formats.

For now, we expect Blair to return to his starting gig on Monday when the Spurs will meet the Jazz again. But just keep an eye on this situation closely, as Popovich changed his starting center about this time last year. Boris Diaw got the call tonight, but it's hard to imagine Blair not reclaiming his job on Monday. Especially given the fact that he had started in all 50 games for the Spurs up until tonight.

DeJuan Blair survived a bloody nose to finish Saturday's game with seven points, five rebounds and one block in 23 minutes.

Every once in a while, Blair will post a big game and send owners scurrying to the waiver wire, only to follow it up with a string of quiet games. It's a function of the Spurs' deep frontcourt and coach Gregg Popovich's unpredictable lineups, and will only get worse during the Spurs' hectic schedule in April.
