Samardo Samuels is back with the Cavs on Friday after missing Wednesday's game in Toronto due to passport issues.

Wed Jan 4 201211:50Samardo Samuels doesn't travel to Canada
Samardo Samuels did not accompany the Cavs to Canada due to short-term passport problems.
The Cavs are on their way to play the Raptors, but Samuels won't be joining them unless he can get it straightened out before the game. It's a weird set of circumstances, but this is a reminder of what can happen during a fast-paced shortened season.

Samardo Samuels came off the bench for 17points and four rebounds in 25 minutes on Wednesday.
He didn't even play in the opener, so we're not ready to jump on his bandwagon yet. Just keep an eye on him.

Mon Dec 26 201112:47Samuels may be ahead of Hollins for Cavs
Samardo Samuels may have won the Cavaliers' backup center job over Ryan Hollins.
According to beat writer Jason Lloyd, "Samuels is undersized, but he's powerful and played well in the preseason, while Hollins struggled." In his first NBA season Samuels averaged 7.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 19 minutes per game.

Wed Oct 5 201115:34Samardo Samuels working on improving jumper
Samardo Samuels is using the lockout to work on improving his jump shot.
Samuels spent a good portion of the summer in Los Angeles and Las Vegas training, and is currently working out with former assistant coach Chris Jent. "I don't spend any money," he said, adding that returning to college -- instead of playing overseas -- would be a likely option should the lockout continue. "I don't go out. All I do is be in the gym all day." He demonstrated enough last season to prove his worth as a reserve on the Cleveland bench last season.

Sat Apr 9 201120:13Samuels (groin) could be shut down for year
If Samardo Samuels (groin) cannot return to action by Monday, then coach Byron Scott will shut him down for Wednesday's season finale against the Wizards, too.
Beat writer Jason Lloyd writes that it doesn't look promising for Samuels, and we tend to agree. Samuels showed enough this season to prove that he belongs in the league, and for fantasy owners, he showed that he can be a low-end option when pressed into action.

Sat Apr 9 201110:34Samuels listed as 'out' for Cavs on Saturday
Samardo Samuels (groin) is listed as 'out' for Saturday's game vs. the Bucks.
The Cavs could certainly use more size in their rotation, but Samuels could aggravate the injury and Cleveland isn't playing for much beyond lottery position. Continue to avoid him.

Fri Apr 8 201111:39Samuels out again w/ groin injury
Cavaliers PF Samardo Samuels (groin) will sit out again on Friday.
Samuels gained instant fantasy relevance when Antawn Jamison's season ended, but he was barely providing value even when 100% healthy. He remains day-to-day but it wouldn't be surprising if he doesn't return this season.

Tue Apr 5 201118:13Samardo Samuels out again on Tuesday
Samardo Samuels (groin strain) will sit out Tuesday night's game.
This is a new injury for Samuels, who seemed to be just getting over his wrist issue. Luke Harangody will see some extended time off of the bench once again.

Mon Apr 4 201113:45Samardo Samuels needs surgery after season
Samardo Samuels (wrist) will need surgery on torn ligament after season but intends to finish the final games saying "opportunity comes but once".
It's great that Samuels isn't mailing it in for the hopeless Cavs like many of his teammates seem to be doing, but he's been absolutely worthless in fantasy as of late. Over his last 14 days he's averaged just 8.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and shot 40.5% shooting, so if those kind of numbers can somehow help your team, go for it.

Sun Apr 3 201122:40Samuels returns with nine points off bench
Samardo Samuels returned from a wrist injury Sunday with nine points and nine rebounds off the bench.
Samuels got 28 minutes even though he had missed three straight games. He has points/boards upside, but be aware of his Shaq-like free-throw shooting. Samuels went 1-of-4 from the line today and came into the game shooting 63.2 percent for the season. Owners can likely do better.

Sun Apr 3 201118:31Samardo Samuels ready to play Sunday
Samardo Samuel (wrist) will return for the Cavs Sunday against the Knicks.
He had a nice run while starting earlier in March, but he was back to a reserve role before his injury and is not worth owning now.

Sat Apr 2 201117:17Samuels (wrist) iffy to play Saturday
Samardo Samuels (sprained right wrist) is questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Knicks.
Samuels is averaging 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 10 starts this season, adding 0.7 steals and 0.5 blocks in 29 minutes per game. He isn't worth gambling on while his status is in doubt.

Fri Apr 1 201118:41Samuels (wrist) won't play Saturday vs. Wiz
Samardo Samuels (sprained wrist) will not play vs. the Wizards on Friday.
Samuels is still ahead of schedule but his absence puts the Cavaliers' frontcourt at a major disadvantage. Beat writer Mary Schmitt-Boyer notes that Cleveland may turn to a zone defense if their big men get into foul trouble.

Fri Apr 1 201111:12Samardo Samuels (wrist) iffy to play Friday
Cavaliers big man Samardo Samuels (wrist) is questionable to play on Friday.
Samuels isn't close to 100% but the Cavs are in need of healthy bodies for their frontcourt and may dress him just in case. Fantasy owners should view Samuels skeptically the rest of the season.

Wed Mar 30 201109:12Samardo Samuels could miss a week
Samardo Samuels (wrist) could miss up to a week.
At this point, missing a week puts Samuels' season in jeopardy. The former starter proved he can play at the NBA level already this season, so rushing back wouldn't make sense. Luke Harangody is picking up extra minutes off the bench.

Mon Mar 28 201112:56Coach Byron Scott rules Samuels out for Tues.
Cavs coach Byron Scott declared that big man Samardo Samuels will miss Tuesday's game against Miami due to his sprained wrist.
Samuels insisted that he wants to play but we're going with the coach in this one. Even in deeper leagues there's no reason he should be in your lineup at this point.

Mon Mar 28 201107:21Samuels believes he'll be ready for Tuesday
After Sunday's game Samardo Samuels stated that he believes his sprained wrist will not keep him out of Tuesday's game against Miami.
''I'll see how it feels when I wake up,'' Samuels said. ''I should be all right. Tape it up right and I should be all right.'' Unfortunately he needs to be starting, not just playing, to merit owning.

Sun Mar 27 201120:15Samuels out with wrist sprain
Samardo Samuels left Sunday's game with a right wrist sprain and will not return.
Samuels has been relegated to a bench role anyway and can now be safely cut in all formats. Although X-rays were negative, the injury is to his shooting wrist.

Sat Mar 26 201102:18Samuels plays just 18 minutes on Friday
Samardo Samuels played just 18 minutes off the bench on Friday, scoring nine points on 3-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, two steals, and one block.
He wasn't producing enough when he was playing to justify holding him through any prolonged drought, so feel free to drop him for a hot free agent. Just don't be surprised if Byron Scott turns back to him if Ryan Hollins falters, which is a fairly realistic preposition.
