Wed Mar 23 201111:32Samardo Samuels benched in favor of Hollins
Samardo Samuels has been removed from the starting lineup in favor of Ryan Hollins for Wednesday's game against the Nets.
Coach Byron Scott won't commit to the change being permanent, but it very well could be. The Cavs are just too small with Samuels and J.J. Hickson down low. Samuels is now expected to be the first big off the bench, but his declining play and potential lack of minutes is a major concern. Owners is most formats can move on.

Tue Mar 22 201100:58Samuels gets the wrong end of Howard
Samardo Samuels got into early foul trouble and never got on track in Monday's game against Dwight Howard and the Magic, scoring seven points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and five turnovers in 19 minutes.
Howard has done this to much better players than Samuels, and even said after the game that he was farting down on the post. Talk about a brutal one-two punch, as Samuels and his owners should just pretend this game never happened.

Sun Mar 13 201116:31Samuels posts double-double in loss on Sunday
Samardo Samuels managed to have a double-double on Sunday by scoring 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting with ten rebounds, two assists and a block.
This was pretty much indicative of the Cavs night...poor shooting (33.3% as a team) and plenty of rebounds to go around.

Tue Mar 8 201123:49Samuels has inefficient, but productive night
Samardo Samuels hit just 5-of-14 shots from the field (1-of-2 from the foul line) with nine rebounds, one assist, and no steals or blocks in 31 minutes on Tuesday.
He deserves to be owned in most formats due to his stranglehold over the PF position in Cleveland, but he's going to be inefficient as he learns the ropes. On the other hand, unlike a high-upside player like Hakim Warrick, who faces the potential return of Channing Frye -- he looks locked into his starting spot through the playoffs.

Mon Mar 7 201110:23Byron Scott sets high ceiling for Samuels
Cavs coach Byron Scott drew comparisons between Samardo Samuels and Kevin Love claiming that Samuels holds more talent and has a limitless ceiling.
"Samardo probably has more talent, Kevin has more experience," Scott said. This confirms that the minutes the Cavs have been tossing him are not a fluke. We've been high on Samuels lately and his play has confirmed that he's worth holding as long as you can tolerate his poor free throw percentage.

Sun Mar 6 201122:11Samuels continues poor FT shooting
Samardo Samuels had 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in Sunday's loss to the Hornets.
Samuels is locked in as the starting power forward and 30-plus minutes a night. He has nice upside as a deep league starter, but owners must be aware of his free-throw shooting. After going 3-for-7 tonight, Samuels is 13-of-26 (50 percent) over his last four games. It can kill a fantasy team.

Fri Mar 4 201123:23Samardo Samuels scores 15 points
Samardo Samuels scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting (5-of-10 from the foul line) with six rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 31 minutes on Friday.
The foul shooting was a drag, but even with Luke Harangody back and playing 22 minutes, the playing time was there for Samuels tonight. He took a charge that decided the game late, and should be owned in most formats with tonight's line being a reasonable baseline production to expect.

Wed Mar 2 201121:28Samuels double-doubles in first start for CLE
Samardo Samuels made his first start for the Cavs on Wednesday, racking up 23 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-18 shooting in 34 minutes.
Wow. He went undrafted and is an unknown commodity unless you know a lot about Louisville, and this could easily end up being his best game of the season. But if you have someone you want to cut (Glen Davis, Marvin Williams, Troy Murphy, etc.) make the move. He could start the rest of the way with Antawn Jamison's season over due to a broken finger, not to mention the fact Luke Harangody left with a hip pointer tonight.

Tue Mar 1 201109:12Samardo Samuels to start in place of Jamison?
FOX Sports' Sam Amico projects Samardo Samuels as the Cavs' new starting power forward.
With Antawn Jamison (finger) out 5-7 weeks, there is another gaping hole in Cleveland's lineup. The raw Samuels is nowhere near ready to play, but it looks like he's going to be thrown into the fire. The rookie out of Louisville is averaging 13.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per 36 minutes, but expecting anything close to that is unrealistic. Consider Samuels someone to keep an eye on more than add.

Sun Feb 27 201120:25Samuels ready to fill in for injured Jamison?
Samardo Samuels picked up extra minutes once Antawn Jamison left Sunday's game with a fractured pinkie finger -- he had 12 points (5-of-8 FGs), six rebounds, and one block in 24 minutes off the bench.
It's conceivable that Samuels will start at PF if Jamison misses any games, which seems quite likely at this point. Stay tuned for updates, but be forewarned that Samuels won't offer much beyond points and rebounds.
Thu Feb 24 201109:31Scott goes to Samuels over Hickson in 4th
Cavs coach Byron Scott elected to go with Samardo Samuels over J.J. Hickson during the fourth quarter in Wednesday night's loss to Houston.
Scott was less than thrilled with Hickson's uninspired play (four points, three rebounds) and opted to turn to Samuels for his energy, handing him 18 minutes. We wouldn't put any stock in Samuels as of yet but it doesn't speak well for Hickson. Hopefully this was a wake-up call.

Wed Feb 9 201116:24Blazers ask league to review Samuels elbow
The Blazers have asked the NBA to review the elbow from Samardo Samuels that fractured a bone in Dante Cunningham's face.
When asked if he believed the elbow was thrown with malicious intent, Nate McMillan responded, "Yeah. Oh yeah." It's possible that this could result in a fine or even a suspension for Samuels, but his absence would barely make an impact in 30-team leagues.

Sun Jan 30 201120:38Samardo Samuels scores 16 off Cavs' bench
Cavaliers big man Samardo Samuels scored 16 points in 19 minutes on Sunday, adding two rebounds and one steal in a loss to the Magic.
Samuels' size was appropriate vs. the Magic but he also benefitted from plenty of garbage time. We're not thinking twice about this line unless he duplicates it in the near future.
Fri Dec 31 201014:26Samuels recalled from D-League
The Cavaliers have recalled Samardo Samuels from the D-League. He has practiced with the team and will travel to Chicago for Saturday's game.
Samuels averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in two games before Anderson Varejao's injury forced the Cavs to bring him back up.
Mon Dec 27 201013:56Samuels sent to D-League by Cavs
Cavaliers rookie Samardo Samuels has been assigned to the D-League.
As usual, this is about getting Samuels experience as opposed to having him watch every game from the end of the Cavs' bench.
Tue Sep 28 201023:15Samardo Samuels leaves w/ cramping
Cavaliers rookie Samardo Samuels missed the end of Tuesday's practice because of cramping. He was given fluids and will be fine.
Samuels will likely fill a minor role backing up PF for the Cavs, but he'll be persona non grata in fantasyland.

The Cavaliers have officially signed undrafted rookie Samardo Samuels.
Samuels is 6'9", 260 lbs and could see spot minutes filling out Cleveland's sparse bench. Just don't expect him to have any fantasy relevance.
