Fri Oct 19 2012 | 01:53 | Cole posts balanced line in preseason win |
Norris Cole started for injured Mario Chalmers (hamstring) on Thursday, scoring six points on 1-of-3 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes. |
There has been no official changing of the point guard, but with Chalmers on the sideline it's fair to say the starting job is up for grabs. Regardless, with no need for a point guard and shooting guard Ray Allen in town, they both perform a job function that Allen does much better. |

Sun Oct 14 2012 | 09:46 | Norris Cole may start at PG for Heat |
Norris Cole continues to start at PG for Miami, and appears to have overtaken Mario Chalmers for the starting job. |
Chalmers is limited by a hamstring injury at the moment, but even healthy he may not beat out Cole, who struggled on Sunday with six points, three assists, two steals and six turnovers in 25 minutes. |

Tue Oct 2 2012 | 19:58 | Miami Heat exercise option on Norris Cole |
The Miami Heat announced that they have exercised the third-year rookie scale option on Norris Cole. |
It will be for the 2013-2014 season and he should continue to push Mario Chalmers for minutes at point guard. The addition of Ray Allen didn't help Cole's fantasy value and he's not worthy of a pick in most fantasy formats. |

Tue Oct 2 2012 | 08:13 | Norris Cole to have to fight for playing time |
Norris Cole may have to fight for playing time this season despite Erik Spoelstra calling him "one of the most improved players" on the team. |
Cole averaged 21 minutes prior to the All-Star break last season and 17 minutes thereafter, but with Ray Allen now in the fold, the Heat are expected to use Dwyane Wade and Allen paired together in the backcourt at times. With Mario Chalmers starting at PG, Cole may not have the opportunity to carve out a consistent role. He's not on the fantasy radar in the large majority of formats. |

Mon Sep 17 2012 | 08:49 | Norris Cole will have to earn playing time |
Beat writer Ira Winderman believes that Norris Cole will have to "force the issue" to earn consistent minutes. |
Winderman feels that Cole will play regularly, but with the versatility on Miami's roster, Cole is going to have to prove that he can be valuable on both ends of the court in order to get more than a handful of minutes nightly. He had a couple of interesting stat lines during last season, but he's not on the fantasy radar right now. |

Tue Feb 14 2012 | 22:27 | Norris Cole scores career-high 20 in win |
Heat backup point guard hit 8-of-12 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to a career-high 20 points as the Heat rolled the Pacers Tuesday. |
Cole had just three assists in 30 minutes, but the key is that Mario Chalmers aggravated his left hand injury and didn't return. Chalmers was in a great deal of pain and while we don't know his status yet, it's possible he could miss time with the injury. And Cole will be worth using if it happens. |

Norris Cole had nine points, four assists and a 3-pointer on 4-of-8 shooting in Wednesday's start for Mario Chalmers, who was out with a hand injury. |
Chalmers will have an MRI, but X-rays were negative. Unless Chalmers is going to miss time, Cole belongs on waivers. |

Norris Cole scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting with four rebounds, one assist, and a steal in 30 minutes on Friday, and left briefly due to a cut over his eye. |
Cole got four stitches and returned to the game. He saw extra minutes due to early foul trouble to Mario Chalmers (two points, five boards, one assist, one block, 18 minutes), but there was no change in the position battle whatsoever. |

Fri Jan 20 2012 | 00:52 | Cole scores four points against the Lakers |
Norris Cole scored just four points on 2-of-7 shooting with one rebound and two assists in 16 minutes on Thursday. |
Cole started the year with a bang and there are still members of the Heat media that call for him to play more, but Cole's early pressure has motivated Mario Chalmers (10 points, six assists, two threes) to lock up the starting job. We'll let you know if Cole ends up making enough noise to warrant a pickup. |

Sat Jan 7 2012 | 22:35 | Cole, Chalmers split minutes for Heat |
Norris Cole played 31 minutes off Miami's bench on Saturday, scoring nine points with three rebounds, six assists and three steals. |
Cole isn't gunshy and he attempted 13 shots, making just four, but it's important to note that he played more than starter Mario Chalmers (seven points, seven assists in 18 minutes). The two continue to split minutes somewhat evenly, hampering the fantasy appeal of both. |

Wed Jan 4 2012 | 22:59 | Norris Cole scores 10 in win over Pacers |
Heat point guard Norris Cole had 10 points, two rebounds, five assists, two steals and a 3-pointer in Wednesday's win over the Pacers. |
He's still coming off the bench and committed six turnovers, but could take over the starting point guard job from Mario Chalmers at some point this season. Just keep an eye on him. |

Fri Dec 30 2011 | 22:39 | Norris Cole still playing well for the Heat |
Norris Cole played well in Friday's game against the Wolves, scoring 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting (no threes) with one rebound, four assists, and two steals in 30 minutes off the bench. |
While the stats aren't eye-popping, Mario Chalmers played just 14 minutes and the questions regarding whether or not Cole can unseat him will continue. Virtually every commenter we follow says that he played exceedingly well, and owners adding him after Tuesday's big game should continue to hold absent other, better options. If Cole was dropped, give him a look but realize that he may take time to develop as a fantasy asset. |

Wed Dec 28 2011 | 22:06 | Norris Cole comes down to earth Weds. |
Norris Cole, who was a hot fantasy pickup after his 20-point game on Tuesday, had just five points and one assist in 16 minutes on Wednesday. |
He hit just 2-of-8 shots, and while it's still possible he takes over starting duties from Mario Chalmers at some point, owners may not have time to wait for it to happen. Expect inconsistency from the young point guard. |

Tue Dec 27 2011 | 23:21 | Norris Cole takes over Celtics-Heat game |
Norris Cole made a name for himself nationally after scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's win over the Celtics, as he finished with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting with four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes off the bench. |
Cole hit a handful of big shots as the Celtics threatened to erase a 20-point Heat lead, and the hype train is on. Erik Spoelstra may keep his rookie coming off the bench, but Cole did everything he needed to do to convincingly take the starting job from Mario Chalmers (19 minutes, four points, six turnovers). He's not a must-add player given the role of Miami PGs and the chance he can't produce enough long-term, but Cole is aggressive enough to make him well worth taking a flier. |

Sun Dec 25 2011 | 17:38 | Norris Cole plays well in Heat win |
Rookie guard Norris Cole had seven points, two rebounds, no assists and a 3-pointer in 24 minutes Sunday. |
The stat line isn't all that impressive, but he looked really good on Sunday. Mario Chalmers is the starter, but if Cole can continue to produce and show progress, he could eventually replace Chalmers in the starting unit. Just keep an eye on him. |

Wed Dec 21 2011 | 22:27 | Norris Cole scores 11 for Heat |
Norris Cole continues to back up Mario Chalmers in Miami and scored 11 points in Wednesday's preseason finale. |
He had just one assist, but he's a guy to keep an eye on if Chalmers fumbles on the job. Chalmers had just three points, but added four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Neither player is worth owning at this point. |
