Norris Cole started for injured Mario Chalmers (hamstring) on Thursday, scoring six points on 1-of-3 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds and five assists in 27 minutes.

There has been no official changing of the point guard, but with Chalmers on the sideline it's fair to say the starting job is up for grabs. Regardless, with no need for a point guard and shooting guard Ray Allen in town, they both perform a job function that Allen does much better.

Norris Cole continues to start at PG for Miami, and appears to have overtaken Mario Chalmers for the starting job.

Chalmers is limited by a hamstring injury at the moment, but even healthy he may not beat out Cole, who struggled on Sunday with six points, three assists, two steals and six turnovers in 25 minutes.

Cole had just three assists in 30 minutes, but the key is that Mario Chalmers aggravated his left hand injury and didn't return. Chalmers was in a great deal of pain and while we don't know his status yet, it's possible he could miss time with the injury. And Cole will be worth using if it happens.

Cole isn't gunshy and he attempted 13 shots, making just four, but it's important to note that he played more than starter Mario Chalmers (seven points, seven assists in 18 minutes). The two continue to split minutes somewhat evenly, hampering the fantasy appeal of both.

While the stats aren't eye-popping, Mario Chalmers played just 14 minutes and the questions regarding whether or not Cole can unseat him will continue. Virtually every commenter we follow says that he played exceedingly well, and owners adding him after Tuesday's big game should continue to hold absent other, better options. If Cole was dropped, give him a look but realize that he may take time to develop as a fantasy asset.

He hit just 2-of-8 shots, and while it's still possible he takes over starting duties from Mario Chalmers at some point, owners may not have time to wait for it to happen. Expect inconsistency from the young point guard.

Norris Cole made a name for himself nationally after scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's win over the Celtics, as he finished with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting with four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes off the bench.

Cole hit a handful of big shots as the Celtics threatened to erase a 20-point Heat lead, and the hype train is on. Erik Spoelstra may keep his rookie coming off the bench, but Cole did everything he needed to do to convincingly take the starting job from Mario Chalmers (19 minutes, four points, six turnovers). He's not a must-add player given the role of Miami PGs and the chance he can't produce enough long-term, but Cole is aggressive enough to make him well worth taking a flier.

The stat line isn't all that impressive, but he looked really good on Sunday. Mario Chalmers is the starter, but if Cole can continue to produce and show progress, he could eventually replace Chalmers in the starting unit. Just keep an eye on him.
